Id just like to mention that the Scotch coach is a great coach and a genuine top bloke. Has the respect of all the boys and obviously is doing a lot of things right which reflects on the ground. The Scotch team are a real tight knit group who stick with each other, and are committed 100% of the time whenever the situation.

Re: APS Season 2006/2007

HC vs MGS

HC 7/282

R. Wakefield 78
T. Lynch 53
K. Martin 52*
D. Tormey 42

J.Slade 4/43

Haileybury chose to bat on a road at Haileybury. Melbourne got a rather early wicket with Jackson going for 8. Wakefield and Bayard put on 80 before Bayard skied one to point. Tormey and Wakefield put on a few before Tormey missed timed a pull shot and skied the ball, he walked half way off the field removed his gloves on the way, then turned around at the last second to see the nuffy Melbourne keeper put him down. was a classic.

Tormey fell shortly after. Martin and Lynch put on another 80 odd run partnership before lynch fell in the last over to Slade. Melbourne then got another wicket off the last ball of the day with year 9 Jackson Coleman unfortunately falling for doughnuts.

Umpiring was fairly dodgy, seemed to be a lot of appeals turned down. But thats cricket i guess. Haileybury in a steady position looking for something well into the 300+ mark. Melbourne did pay for some shocking short crap that they would call bowling.

How did Rueben bat? Good to see him amongst the runs. Good on him.

Did Patto play?

Re: APS Season 2006/2007

Reuben batted very well, he batted like your supposed to. he kept out the good balls and punished the bad balls. pulled and hooked alot of runs, but he went out playing a pull shot. some glorius cover drives. hit a lot of 4s. was a good knock.

patto didnt play, back is still not up to scratch so i think i spent the day watching his brother play agaisnt WA. which is fair enough. he should be back soon though, dont know when hes bowling.

HC Vs MGS

HC

10/327
Wakefield 78
Martin 72
lynch 53

Slade 7/66

MGS

10/275
Shaw 117
Oaten 62

lynch 4/66

Ended being a very good game. Haileybury put on some quick runs in the morning session but were bowled out within an hour and half. Melbourne lost Zayler third ball of the innings and Payne fell shortly after. Oaten and Dunell batted well together but Dunell fell for 30 odd. Charles Shaw and Oaten out on more than a hundred in a very good partnership. Haileybury's spirits were down when the two were together at the crease but Oaten fell to a good nut by Dale Tormey. Shaw batted ok, alot of his runs came from 4s being edged through the slips region and running away on HC's fast outfield. he did play some great shots though. Wickets fell around Shaw and then he fell to expose the lengthy Melbourne tail. Haileybury coming out victorious with about 15 overs to go.

Melbourne played well and it was good for the Haileybury team to experience the pressure that was put on their shoulders. But as a good team does they came out on top.

HC have Wesley Xavier and Brighton left. Thats pretty much two certanties if all goes well. I heard that Xavier arn't that much chop and i also heard that cosgrove is a hack and gets all his wickets from catches at mid wicket.

Go Bloods

Xavier had a crushing win today and imo a very good lineup. Cosgrave who took 7 fa bowls a good length and is very underrated. He shouldnt be now though.

Buckley is a gun batter, as is Molan, Smith, Bergin can all bat. Curtain etc can hold up an end. I think Xav will give Haileybury a fair crack

Re: APS Season 2006/2007

Haha we played Haileybury today and they will smash Xavier. Cosgrave is terrible. He's like any offspinner, use your feet to him and he doesnt know what to do. And bowl short to him, he hates it there.

7/82 isn't bad figures against a batting line-up like ours.

Re: APS Season 2006/2007

Shaw is gun batter for Melbourne, Dunell, Zayler and Oaten can also hold the bat well, but Haileybury still won. Melbourne beat Xavier aswell. I think Haileybury will knock Xavier off. They will be back to full strength aswell because Patto is resting his back just for the xavier game.

Footies out. Sundberg is a very good bat and Yaman and Lamont are more than handy.

sundberg is a sloger that thinks he can bat... lamont is probably the worst no.6 in the whole APS... as for tilly please, the guy can bowl, cant hold a bat to save himself
