AUSTRALIAN captain Ricky Ponting expects fast bowlers Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus to be passed fit for the second Test against South Africa starting on Friday.
Siddle and Hilfenhaus, due to bowl at match intensity during training late yesterday at Sahara Stadium, will learn their fate when Australia's medical staff assess how the pair have pulled up from their only vigorous net session of the week. "I don't think they're really in doubt," Ponting said.
According to the locals, Sahara Stadium offers huge swing when the tide is right. The ground is a short distance from the beach and at high tide, the water level rises and the pitch becomes full of juice.
Scientists have rubbished the theory, but former players swear by it - hence Ponting's desperation for Hilfenhaus to make the XI.
For the record - and for those who enjoy a bit of folklore more than scientific data - high tide during the five days is at 12.28pm, 1.45pm, 2.30pm, 3.07pm and 3.45pm. Hilfenhaus might well be timing his spells to coincide.

All 3 quick bowlers are wicket takers as well, all capable of bags of wickets, he fitted the attack perfectly and Dougie may not have lasted long as it was and Australia could have been relying alot more on North
Plus he can bowl long spells which took away the reliability on the 5th bowler but they should go with McGain for the next test
