1/150 from 45 overs.

South Africa are 2/322 by the way, Khan was out this morning to Siddle for 20 and Johnson claimed to wicket of Amla for 46. Ashwell Prince is proving a point to the South African selectors, he is 150 not out, Jacques Kallis is on 68.

Siddle's bowled 18 overs, 1/16. 11 maidens in there too.

Re: Australia in South Africa

It takes Billy 10 minutes to come to a decision obvious with the 1st replay and Prince is finally out

I know the conditions aren't in his favour at the moment but if you are playing for Australia as a specialist bowler you CANNOT go for 9 an over.
Wonder if he will get 45 overs to try and get that e/r down and pick up some lucky wickets or is that reserved for Punters mates?

Re: Australia in South Africa

Just as I say that, Hilfenahus returns to the attack with immediate success, down the leg-side and Prince plays and there's an appeal which Australia decides to refer to the third umpire. Bucknor gave it not out and hot spot didn't reveal anything but Bowden, the third umpire reckons there was some glove and gives him out.

3/322, de Villiers in now.

Re: Australia in South Africa

100 for McGain on debut, what a superstar. :D

3/403 at stumps, Kallis 102 not out, de Villiers 39. Total destruction by South Africa, they went after McGain and hammered him to all parts of the ground, 11-2-102-0 is a truly pathetic effort and I would say he is halfway through his only test. I believe he now holds the record for the worst ecomony rate for the first 100 runs conceded.

South Africa in total control, they could bat for at least another day and still have plenty of time to bowl Australia out.

Agreed, Krazy's my man. He goes for runs, but he takes wickets, and he's got 10 years or more on McGain.

Re: Australia in South Africa

I really don't want McGain to be dropped only after his first Test :(

Hopefully he can prove everyone wrong and take a wicket before end of this Test.

Re: Australia in South Africa

I don't want him to be dropped either. Australia need a specialist spinner, especially with the Ashes in England coming up. Theres no better time than now to take a punt and leave one in the side to gain some experience, even if they do go for some runs.

I keep looking at out spinners and thinking why did they pick him? then i try and think of someone else, but come up dry. Krezja's efforts domestically don't convince me, but Hauritz I didn't mind. McGain for me is the way to go.

Are there any other spinners out there worthy?

Yeah, it must be Ponting's fault he bowled shite yesterday.

Krezja bowled shite and yet Ponting kept bowling him and bowling him and bowling him and eventually wickets tumbled and so did the e/r, if a bowler bowls enough overs especially on the trot they will take wickets

If Ponting put McGain on non stop for the remainder of the innings he would probably take a couple of wickets and his figures would get better

Re: Australia in South Africa

relax people our problems have been solved, hearing Australia has played a 36yr old leg spinner, richie benaud has declared that he will be available for the ashes series, he is 103 yrs old but a young 103 so problem solved.

Re: Australia in South Africa

WOW I hope McGain can get a wicket soon.

This game is more exciting than T20 cricket.

And I hope after this trashing, aussies can salvage a draw :)

Looks like a road and punter is due a match saving innings, bat for 1 and half days and win the series 2-0. sorted.

Re: Australia in South Africa

Eyy!! Katich comes on and in his second over gets de Villiers.

He goes for 164. 8/637

Katich to de Villiers, OUT, AB has holed out to deep midwicket. Short delivery, nothing special, could have disappeared out of the ground but AB pulls it straight to the fielder. What a fine entertaining innings from de Villiers. The crowd loved it and are now showing their appreciation with a generous thunderous applause.

Re: Australia in South Africa

Katich to Steyn, OUT, Lovely loopy delivery from Katich who picks his second wicket. It looped up outside off, good rip on the ball and Steyn drove inside the line and edged it to slip. Questions will be asked why Ponting didn't bring Kato on earlier. Was the bowler reluctant or the captain? Press conference should be interesting later on.

9/637. The quote above is from Cricinfo. It's a good one.
