Australia in South Africa

Re: Australia in South Africa

:(

McDonald is a capable fourth bowler on this pitch I would think. He is a fairly good bowler. I'm not saying he is in our top 4 with the ball, but he will do.

Re: Australia in South Africa

3/78 at lunch. Ponting 49 not out, Clarke on 17. It'll be up to these two to get Australia out of trouble. They're lucky they have a long batting order too as they'll need it.

Re: Australia in South Africa

Slipped over to the grandparents to watch it on foxtel.

Must say the Hughes shot was absolute ****.

Re: Australia in South Africa

3/130, Ponting survives the first referral of the match. Ponting came forward but the ball came back in and there was a noise, South Africa went up but Bowden said No. Smith asked for a referral and it showed that the ball brushed his thigh pad. Not out the decision and South Africa only have one incorrect challenge remaining.

This partnership has done well for Australia and they've clocked up 92 in quick time, better than four runs per over. Ponting on 76 with Clarke on 41. Smith dropped an absolute sitter when Ponting was on 40, he'd want to get his counterpart out pretty soon.

Also Geoff Lawson is a oxygen thief. Talks shit, and is a biased New South Wales ****er.

Not a truer word has been spoken. I listened to his crap earlier this evening, squealing about Red-nut getting a game ahead of Nude-nut. Typical Sydney-centric ignorance.
Kram & Bundy: No excuse for you though. Does anyone care to know McDonald's First Class bowling average is clearly better than Bollinger's (this season and ever)? Who said McDonald is a part-timer - or is that just because he can bat? Which brings me to the next point: Doug can't ... at all. Anyone looking at the figures and the Test debuts would consider McD is going to be better value than Bollinger.

Ha ha, i only listened to two minutes. It's all i could bear, truly a painful man.

Re: Australia in South Africa

Several seasons in and vice-captain of his country, Clarke is still getting out at crucial times to poor shots. Put him up to No.4 at force him to mature, or we will be completely lost once Ponting goes.

Re: Australia in South Africa

Australia have recovered somewhat to 5/229. Ponting misjudged one from Ntini and it cut back to take his stumps whilst Clarke got out to a poor shot, chasing a widish ball and edging behind after getting himself settled.

Marcus North has looked good on debut and is 40 not out whilst Brad Haddin is 18 not out.

Steyn has three wickets with Morkel and Ntini taking one each. Still 28 and a half overs left today, South Africa are well behind the over rate.

Re: Australia in South Africa

north really making a statement right now, if he and haddin can keep this partnership going to stumps the aussies might push for a good first innings. whats a good score on the wicket after all that rain? 300 might be tough if the aussies can make the ball sing early? Can't wait to see the hilf bowl.

Interesting to see that because the saffas are so behind their over rate duminy is forced on at a crucial segment of the day. If the aussie pair can plunder his bowling the test might change. Great effort after a terrible start. steyn is great swing bowler, best fast bowler in the world currently.

Re: Australia in South Africa

South Africa are really struggling with the over-rate. From the last 45 minutes they'll need to bowl 22 overs. The extra half-hour is a must for them if they want to get the overs in. Duminy's on now and has gone for ten runs from two overs. However, he got Clarke out in Australia in a similar situation so shouldn't be underestimated.

5/254, North 47 and Haddin is 37.

Edit: And with that over, they're off for bad light. Doesn't look like it will improve so that may be all the play we'll have today. This partnership has added 72 by the way, very handy so far.

Re: Australia in South Africa

5/254 and light has been offered. Do the saffies get fined for only bowling 68 overs in 5 hours?

They should, very, very poor over-rate today. It's raining now also so that is almost certain to end the day's play.
