good day for us, and i get to see jaques bat tomorrow . dissapointed by the way india batted. looked like they were going to put up a challenge but they threw it all away, although they were helped by some good bowling
Australia should win this match from here. They will be looking to score around 350 and set India a target in excess of 500 to chase on the last two days.
I didn't watch the match but from the scorecard it seems that Clark and Lee were outstanding. It was the fifth consecutive 4 wicket haul for Brett Lee.
Good fightback by Australia to take control of the game. As AB says, they'll be looking for 300 plus to set India about 500 in 5 sessions or thereabouts.
It would seem that Australia bossed India from the first over to the last. The openers seemed contained and could not get the ball off the square. It would seem that it is the perfect situation to bring Sehwag* in, in the next Test for Yuvraj Singh. It may be harsh on Yuvraj, but he is not worth playing Dravid out of position for.
*He shouldn't have been in the squad, but it would seem that he is the man for the situation.
India should look to really attack Australia because Australia have enough time to bat India out of the contest with plenty of time to bowl them out. Without the third pacer though, attacking may become quite difficult on a Day 3 pitch.
Latest news is that the BCCI want to fly Munaf Patel in before the second Test, but they cannot establish contact with him yet.
That was one of the most odd things i felt, India chose 2 spinners. quite odd. it may be quite controversial for me to say this but i reckon India should drop dravid, hes badly out of form, they should've choose the best team
not the best match for punter but we arent under any pressure so it doesnt matter. jaques is a legend! this was his sixth consecutive score over 50! now waiting for lee to take his sixth consecutive four fer.
we have a great lead. india have no chance of chasing it down. im sure they wont manage more than 300 in the 2nd innings.
Pathetic batting performance from India. They haven't even managed to score 200 in both the innings and are going to lose by more than 300 runs. Tendulkar and Ganguly have played well, but none have managed to carry on and get a big score. Probably because wickets keep falling at the other end.
i thought i'd wake up early to check the score and India have already lost the match. .what is dravid trying to achieve by scoring 10 runs in 100 balls? such negative cricket wont be successful against any team let alone australia.
actually i was thinking the same too. he might be trying to show that he doesnt want to open but this is not the right approach. he always comes in the first 5 overs because we have poor starts so opening isnt much different. its all in his mind.
why is hogg in the team??
hogg isnt a very good bowler we need tait..
or nathan bracken??
and what was with ricky ponting he got out for very low scores in both innings
nah, you have to have balance in a team, and going full on pace on that pitch might have backfired. and all things considered hogg bowled quite well. got 4 wickets and bowled ganguly with a beauty
what do you guys reackon India will use as an opening combination?
For me they should keep the team that succeded in England and have Kathik open. he was their leading run scorer in that competition and although he had a bad series in pakistan that shouldnt stop him from being picked. sehwag just hasnt been performing in domestic cricket, so he shouldnt be the automatic selection
Karthik may have scored runs in England, but he is very inconsistent. Against the Australian attack, its more than likely that he will fail. Sehwag, on the other hand, is not in good form. Its going to be a tricky decision, but I'd go with Sehwag because he is a much better batsman than Karthik.
India has had this opening problem for a long time and I don't think they will find any solution soon.
Yuvraj is the main suspect. It may be harsh, but a double failure is just not acceptable when you have such pressure for places and you are displacing Dravid to fit yourself into the side.
