Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

yeah... if we keep the pressure on but... we MIGHT have it...

im leaning more towards a draw but..

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

India are in a spot of bother. They are effectively 5 down for 165 and there are still 43 overs left in the day. If Australia can dismiss Indians within the next 15 overs they may have a chance of winning. They need to get Sehwag early because the lead will keep increasing as long as he is at the crease.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

it will be hard for australia to win now. we still have kumble and bhajji left who can stick around.
i am so happy that sehwag is scoring runs finally and that too against the best team in the world. this is a great sign for us and i hope he continues. openers have always been a problem in test cricket for us in the last few years. if he opens half of the problem is solved.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

This is very familiar situation. India always struggles in the 2nd innings. Thanks to Sehawg or India would be very big trouble. He took full advantage of the the dropped catch. Now there isnt any chance for a result. Ponting is just trying to increase the over rate now.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

The match has officially ended in a draw. Australia win the series 2-1 and this is also the end of Adam Gilchrist's Test career. Certainly one of the greatest wicketkeepers of all time. Sachin get the Man of the match award and Lee is the Man of the Series for his 24 wickets in 4 matches. Brett Lee has matured greatly since he took over the role of spearhead from Mcgrath.

I think India has done very well in this series. Except the first game, they have competed very well throughout the series. India moves on to the 2nd position on the ICC Test rankings and I think they fully deserve it.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

Yeah i am really proud of the way we played. I dont care about the end result because i know it could have easily been 1-1. India has proved again that they provide tough competetion to Australia. We deserve to be at number 2 now. Australia is still the number 1 team and India wont reach there until we have two stable openers and now Dhoni's poor form is giving more trouble we also lack the agressive killer instinct that Australia have. The bowling attack has surprised me. Even the second string attack performed well. Ishant has good talent to become a great bowler. I hope he does not disapper like Balaji, Nehra, Munaf etc have.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

And on the Ishant Sharma issue, that his captains also dont get him to bowl 40 overs quickly. Otherwise he may dissapear through injuries like Simon Jones. Im happy to see a little competition, especially at a time when a lot of people (not me :p) were saying that there wasnt enough competition left in international cricket. That and Ponting fighting his way back into form

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

i would be happy if would draw the series but they played well and i am happy with that....the series was very close and i think after ashes in 2005 we got a close series for a long time...i think all people were saying india will lose 4-0 and rubbish but they got proved wrong!!!!!!! they said that in 2003 too but india played well and draw the series..this could be 1-1 too if the batsmen could bat for 2 more overs and bucknor was not making bad decisions :(

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

You know what they say about Bucknor. To err is human, to err repeatedly is © Bucknor.

I think we have proved the critics wrong. The team was not full strength and the batting lineup also had problems but we still managed to compete which is a good sign for us.
Ishant is too thin. He need to be become stronger if he has to last longer. He is certainly the find of the series and I am glad that he got a opportunity. I thought he was a rubbish bowler after seeing him against pakistan but he proved me and all the critics wrong.

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

This Test series has been good especially to our bowlers;who bowled very well in spite of not having Zaheer Khan,Sreesanth as well.
The batsmen also did their part and happy to see Sachin Tendulkar scoring thehighest 493 runs from the 4 Test matches.
Overall;India has again stayed in the hunt with Australia which was also acknowledged by Adam Gilchrist as well.
The Series loss does not matter as everyone is aware which Team has won the Test Series- Ethically :)

 yeah that is right....if it was not him then india could have won the match at sydney or at least draw.....but we still should have drawed the match....it was only because of useless players like jaffer, yuvraj and dhoni that we lost :cursing:

Re: Australia vs India - Border Gavaskar Trophy

I see that Harbhajan has been cleared of the race row but found guilty of using offensive language. Not a bit shock as it was the best outcome in the interest of harmony.

Hopefully, a line can now be drawn underneath it all and world cricket can move on.
