i don't think so, people wrote us (point) off at the start of last season after losing 7 or so top grade players. we ended up missing the finals by half a game. they have enough good players in the seconds and juniors coming through

I was talking to Geoff and he said he was moving to Geelong also. Not sure about his change of club though yet.

looks like some people have got word of my possible exit from a few posts back.
whether he plays or not mt clear will still be a competitive team, while he added alot of dimension to the team, there are a number of young people who will be led by the great jeffrey-fletcher combination who are capable of taking his spot, one don nichio for one who showed he can be a big game player.

I think a couple of years ago you were right ...but not anymore. Their twos arent as strong these days and Blakey is a big loss let alone any others leaving.

i also believe that mt clear will still be competitive. still a lot of quality players, mcvitty, nicho ash george all capable with the bat. mcleod in the twos goes pretty well.

has anyone heard about the vacant captaincy roles for the coming season?
North? Mounties? Ballarat-Redan? whoever else.
i heard a rumour that r.knowles was thinking about going back over to the combine and taking jason with him. but from what i have heard they will have no bowling options next year with jarrad allan having a shoulder operation in october.

anyone else heard anything? it could just be talk but who knows

At North I know Matty Cations is pretty keen to do the job again and I would presume that Xavier Watson is as well. I have my own thoughts about co-captains though. Our only other options in-house at the present time would be Wrighty or a lazarus-like comeback from Stewy Mac, presuming Hoppy doesn't come back and/or doesn't want the job. There's also been a whisper that PC might get involved again but I don't know whether he'd captain the 1s.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

im going to make an early prediction here. mt clear for back to back flags with what everyone else thinks is an undermanned team. and don nichio for e j cleary medal. after the grand final knock i believe his bowling and batting abilities will takes a massive jump as he will believe in himself more

While the Combine would love to have J Allan playing for them this year, I would not think that they have no bowling options without him as they made two GF's without him (winning one - and yes I know the great Bambino had a lot to do with that, and is now no longer there.) The word that I have heard is that they have also decided on who they are going to have as coach.

Ghost,

Appears you have an insite on the Combine, Do you have a name for the coaching position?

I do have a name, but I'm sure the club will let that be known when the time is right.

Obviously The Ghost in some way, shape or form is attached to The Combine. As I am not, and only have contacts there, I'm quite happy to leak what I'm lead to believe.........Shane Skontra appointed Captain/Coach for the 08/09 Season.

I may be wrong, but my sources inform me he has been confirmed.

correct. skona is a lock at the combine...already well under way preparing a 'footy' type pre-season to get the combine back to its former glory of 2 seasons ago. interesting choice.......

Geez .....a few of the "Boony" or "Boof Lehman" shape bodies at the club may find it a bit of a slog:p
