Hows Kentish go in this comp?

To answer your question "Quick".. he goes quite well. Opens the bowl and very handy middle-lower order batsman for the top side.

He performed quite well with the bat in last years Granny.

Im with you Josh, obviously sounds like you rate your team's chance (if you keep holding the team up, (I'm sure you'll be competitive) I dont think Darley or even maybe East will make the finals.

Well you can't rule out everyone yet....anything can happen!!!

We all know that the fourth place is up for grabs....!!! As everyone knows!!!

Greg is the not the first or will he be the last person to hole out to a spinner. However what makes this dismissal worthwhile remembering is that he blamed the pitch for it (ie: If the pitch is so bad why try and hit the ball out of the park?).

It was more the relevance of bringing it up in an answer to a totally unrelated question.

My top 4 is
1.East Ballarat- Will finish on top
2.Mt Clear- Will struggle to win games after christmas...alot depends on their bowling...the batting is good enough but they do lack quality bowlers!!!
3.Darley- The surprise of the year....will need to win 3 out of 5 games to make finals....
4.Wendouree-Will challenge darley for 3rd position all depends on last game of year....
In saying this you cant right off the combine or Golden Point to push out one of the top 4

I think that East will be the ones to beat for the flag...

All this talking up, pissing in each others pockets from Darley. It will be interesting to see how they go against another finals hopeful in Naps this week? Any thoughts??? Cant write them off when they have the likes of Faulkhead, Banwell, Thompson...............Leech! Haha sorry i cant write that with a straight face. They should give it a fair crack this game though, if Darley lose it could be a quite day on Big Cricket on Monday.

Ah .... so the opinions expressed in the Xmas wish list werent your own, just what you have heard ... fair enough

So, how are you finding Ballarat cricket?

How does it rate with where you have previously played?

Make sure you dont "hole out" to fieldsman on the fence when you face Parker(The Gospel wont let you forget it) ... but if he doesnt spin it, perhaps thats how he has most of his 11 wickets !!

From what i've seen in the BCA so far, it seems to be a pretty even comp. There is plenty of competition between some of the clubs which is great as it spices things up a bit. Can't really comment on the standard of the comp until I've played most teams but seems pretty solid. Don't worry about me and 'the gospel', I doubt very much I will 'hole out' to Parker, although I am looking forward to the challenge

Do not give Parker the satisfaction of getting any wickets, he bowls poo. His head will only grow larger. He may even look for even more media exposure that he has chased all year.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Can I just suggest you blokes all ease up a little bit. Earlier in the year I was supposed to have written some stuff I didn't and with all you anonymous writers giving the next bloke a spray it doesn't do much for the comp or for individuals.

Clubs or players don't chase media. We're talking WIN and The Courier. They have to fill their reports with mindless interviews or else they'd not have jobs.

In my opinion, unless you've been around for a while like Paull Jeffreys or Rob Delmenico or you've actually been doing something this year like Eamon Johnson or Josh White you should pull back on the pea-hearted anonymous sledging of individuals.

Great point Sven.....it is kinda funny blokes giving each other sprays without even knowing for sure who they are actually talking about, I definitly agree it does'nt do Ballarat cricket any favours....!!!

From what I can see some of the blokes here posting comments are either new to the league or they don't know to much about it...!!!

Thats the impression I got from this forum, as soon as I logged on and had a read on monday after hearing about it all.....!!!

Josh, Darley have had a culture problem ever since coming into the BCA so don't be too concerned.
I agree with the fact that they maybe getting a tad ahead of themselves.
Naps/Sebas can not be taken lightly.
Sven, I also agree with your sentiments.
It's just trash talk

Nah no concern here "HAMMERTIME" I could'nt care less if these blokes keep doing this, in fact as I said it's quite funny to read.

Obviously your a Naps man...............Yes nobody should take anyone lightly considering most teams have won a couple of games this year.

Your right, win a few games (Darley) and their heads get even bigger than what they already were before they could be competitive.

Im sure Waka05 would agree with this sentiment (even though he is a hack!) .. gotta respect yourself, Josh White and Waka for not hiding behind pseudonyms like Garnoo, The Gospel and Hammertime.

Have you given us your Final Four yet, Steve? Would be interested in your opinion

Leechy is actually quite a solid batsman and he is a good leader in a team of predominantly young players.

At least he doesn't have 6 on the fence like some captains...

What's happened to Greg?

He appears to have gone missing...

How has Parker "chased" media exposure all year?

The Courier and Win TV come to the players, not the other way around.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

So here we are...first round of the new year, one day game and a loooot of teams hanging in the balance. Who are the tips gonna be for the weekend?!

One day games have that annoyin knack of going either way, there wouldnt be too many foregone conclusions this week..a lot of teams trying to set up their teams for the rest of the season. History will show u that the teams who get on a bit of roll now will be the finalists and with such a close competition with washouts and all its gonna be tight..

mt clear v wendouree...both teams have some big hitters. sammy miller gets on a roll he'll destroy them..

Darley v Naps...i have to say Naps cos im a naps man. naps have the better bowling line up with thommo, ringin, cordo, branch etc..

north v point...prob the easiest game to pick. point should steamroll north

east v coronet...normally u would say east however with jezza sidelined...there is a bit of a gap there

brown hill v b/redan...must win for both teams...if waka can get going the he'll bat brown hill so far out of the game...

Greg's mate BAM BAM has stopped posting since his move to Geelong, Word has it that his new team mates have had enough and aren't keen to see him return after Xmas, Any takers out there if he's looking for a game ?

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

OK. Here goes. My final 4 is as follows:

1. Barack Obama
2. John McCain
3. Hillary Clinton
4. Mike Huckabee

With Obama to be the first black American President.

No seriously folks, Mt Clear and East are montys for the top two spots. Mt Clear has East and Wend twice in the run home but they have done the hard yards already. East have a very good ride home.

Of the others, I'm buggered if I know. But here's some food for thought:

Wendouree have beaten Redan, North and Coronet and lost to us (Point) and East. Have Mt Clear twice, Darley down there and Naps to come.
Darley have beaten North, Redan and Brown Hill and lost by big margins to Mt Clear and East. Also have an ordinary run home.
Napoleons have beaten Brown Hill and North and lost to Mt Clear, Redan and East (have had a hard run and get Darley twice, Point and Wendouree).
Point (my blokes) have beaten Coronet and Wendouree and lost to Mt Clear (again), Redan and East. Have North twice, B.Hill, Darley and Naps to come.
Redan have had their hangover but have a great run after the break so they are my pick to sneak into 3rd or 4th.

The last spot is anyone's. I wouldn't like to guess. All bar the top two sides have been in ordinary form for the most part or have beaten some of the strugglers so who knows.

But don't hang around waiting for form to come back gentlemen because as Steven Tyler from Aerosmith said, "The things that come to those who wait may be the things left by those who got there first!"

Now go to bed you crazy kids!

Agree with everything you have said, apart from Mike Huckabee will win presidential election

Haha you really have no idea do ya. Ill admit that was a bit of a low blow joke about Leech, has been a great cricketer over the years. What your forgeting about the darley game is that we had at least 2 (sometimes more) slips and a gully for at least the first 30 overs (not including to the spinners of course). It was a combination of Darleys negative batting and Mounties tight bowling that won the game for them when it was up for grabs which was the first forty overs. And as for the 6 fielders on the fence for the last 20 overs (out of 80 mind you) id love to see what you would do if it garunteed you 6 points. i know what i would do. Never give the other team a sniff.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Well boys can someone answer the question of why the top line players in the comp are not playing in the country week side????it appears to be quite a week side compared to the players that the comp has!!

I have heard that Geelong CA pay their players $300 per week which is a bit of incentive coes the BCA pay their reps for the week ???if not could this be a reason why no one really wants to play.......
