Shift work, not being able to get the time off, kids, cricket widows and heading off on holidays at the beach are the main reasons.

Plus with all the lead-up games there isn't too much free time on weekends leading up to and after Xmas.

Many people comment on the seemingly bizarre selections and large concentrations from individual clubs but if they are the only ones putting their hands up then beggars can't be choosers.

Thanks for that.........compliment???? Garnoo. I would like to consider myself a controlled hitter with a tendancy to get carried away/frustrated at times, something I am working on with our club coach at the minute.

I'm still here Gospel, just enjoying the conversation I've created with my opinions. I'm loving the light reading before I go to bed and cry myself to sleep being the "sook" that I am.

Now there's a shock. From a personal point of view, I wouldn't like to see him back in Ballarat cricket, nor would I welcome him back to Ballarat/Redan.

One day games have that annoyin knack of going either way, there wouldnt be too many foregone conclusions this week..a lot of teams trying to set up their teams for the rest of the season. History will show u that the teams who get on a bit of roll now will be the finalists and with such a close competition with washouts and all its gonna be tight..

mt clear v wendouree...both teams have some big hitters. sammy miller gets on a roll he'll destroy them..

Darley v Naps...i have to say Naps cos im a naps man. naps have the better bowling line up with thommo, ringin, cordo, branch etc..

north v point...prob the easiest game to pick. point should steamroll north

east v coronet...normally u would say east however with jezza sidelined...there is a bit of a gap there

brown hill v b/redan...must win for both teams...if waka can get going the he'll bat brown hill so far out of the game...

My tips are:


Wendouree in an upset. Mt.Clear will lose early wickets and struggle whilst trying to lift the run rate.

Napoleons. Darley haven't won for quite a while and looks like they will continue to slip down the ladder. This is a must win game for an underperforming Naps team and If they are good as they think should win this one.

Point. Enough said.

East. Easily.

Ballarat Redan. Both seem to be struggling but Redan still a much better team and should win this one.

Ballan aren't in the Ballarat Cricket Association.

Their ground is too hard to play on. That's why you would have seen them play on one of the grounds that the bca wasn't using.

"No" in that context is actually spelt "know", "foget" is spelt "forget" and "tossa" is spelt "tosser".

Now that we have established that you are actually a born and bred Ballan native you need to understand that this forum discusses BCA 1st XI cricket and cricketers and has done since November 2006. Not district cricket.

While I'm sure all would agree we'd love to hear everything you have to say about BCA First Division cricket, especially about how my old side Buninyong belted the crap out of your mob out at Bunny earlier in the year, you really need to pull your aggressive little Jimmy head in and go back to your bong.

Now Gents, Xavier Watson from North copped a shocker keeping up to the stumps off one of his medium-pacers against us today. Split the eyebrow and bled behind the eye so they took him to emergency and then eventually in an ambulance to Melbourne keeping his head still. Jock Spratling is keeping me up to date with how he is going. Lovely kid, Xavier. Will keep you all informed.

Mounties also had a big injury blow on the wknd. Matt (mc physio) Clark tore his achilles off while keeping on Saturday. Its about a 12 month injury. Could be the last time we see him in the ones. Has been a great player over the years.
I tell ya Sven, looking at the fixture it looks like you guys might sneak into fourth spot having a nice run home by playing North and Brown Hill. It might come down to your match against Naps though. Whats everyones thoughts of top 4? Mine:

would have to agree they have a nice run home. Everyone underestimated Point's ability to comeback after losing so many players but they have certainly shown their depth with the 2nds sitting in the top 4 also. Naps should be Point's only rival for 4th at the moment I'd say. Darley to keep sliding down the ladder and Redan don't look to be able to get any momentum going.

Well Don, whoever you maybe!!! I would'nt call it a huge surprise, not at all...
We are definitly not just sneaking into fourth position either, actually we are equal third if you look at the points...but it is very tight in the middle.

Don't doubt anyone at this stage, there are no easy push overs.......!!!

Who are you to say who can and can't write on this post? I didn't know you run the show. As far as im concerned Ballan are part of the Cricket association. Yes its Division but im sure they have things to talk about in that league as well. So Jimmy my advise would be to get some district players to sign onto this site to chat with cause most of us wont know whats going on in the district level.

Well thats exactly right Don...who am I to say who can and can't write on this forum, in saying that though who is Jimmy in telling someone else to stop writing on this forum!!! Works both ways mate, read the previous posts and you may understand what I am talking about...!!!
