Thomson
Allan
Wakeling
Burns
Flether
George
Young
Nicholson
Moore
Knowles
Whinney
Reinets
Parker
Steenholdt
Dawson

What would your side be??

I think the players I've Bolded you'll find are not in the squad????

As for naming players that Waka05 mentioned that didnt put there hand up too play on Sunday that are actually in squad, heck I'll name his BRCC team mate Luke Whinney as one of them. He had a mate from back in his homeland have an engagement party (can confirm, as I was there with him)

If blokes have reasons like this, wouldnt that be fair enough?????

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

I hear the wendouree boys in Skinner, Pyke and Miller had prior engagements with the state finals of the 20/20 comp in geelong. Doesn't that come before playing for the association. All of us here are talking about the best of the best playing. Name your best squads of 13 if you were the slectors then in batting order or label the reason you selected them...

Absolutely, I didn't name names because I didn't know their reasons. I knew Luke was back home for the engagement party and that's fine. Not quite sure if you're having a crack at me there but I think I stated that "I'm sure they have very good reasons for not playing"?

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Its no secret that the BCA buries their head in the sand and hinders the progression of the worlds best sport. You only need to look at what other associations are doing to see that we are falling behind the mark.
We have 8 senior grades of Cricket here and only two of them get a regular go on turf. Considering cricket has been played here for what - 100 years maybe?? In my opinion that is pathetic.
While other associations try one day fixtures only (making it easier for clubs to field teams week in week out), Womens leagues, midweek comps, take Interleague seriously etc etc, the BCA’s idea of doing something spectacular for the game is getting a Melbourne District club to play here on Saturday, thus disrupting everyone that loves the game and achieving nothing.
In my opinion this is made worse by the fact that the BCA (from what I have heard on the grapevine) has plenty of $$ in the warchest, and instead of using this constructively to build the game, they are content to try and cripple clubs by having fees on top of fees on top of fees..
What is the solution??

Full credit must go to the organisations that have actually tried to move cricket forward - i.e Brown Hill for Womens Cricket, Wendouree with 7's, Cricket Willow(or whoever?) for asking for the Twenty20 etc

Good work Waka, the better blokes around do exactly as you just did.

It is so easy to criticise the process and people involved in all of this, especially when hiding behind a pseudonym.

Bottom line is if players have a burning desire to represent their club & region they will do whatever they can to make themselves available. Over time priorities change and so does the enthusiasm and motivation to take time off work (annual leave or leave without pay) or away from family.

What you usually find is that the people who do slag off and criticise are the people who either don't understand the process of communicating issues or are simply not good enough to make a rep side.

Thanks Dad, at least someone is sticking up for me.

cape has played 3 games this season, so i left him out. sven could easily play, i just put you in instead coz of the amount of runs u have. pyke could keep, didnt think of that

I'd take out Dawson and add Steve and probably leave out sandwith for maybe a Cape even though he has only played a handful of games.

Not having a crack at all, just confirming people's thoughts, that they sometimes can have prior arrangements. (or more important things than cricket)

Why?? Made a stack of runs this year and a bout 500 last year....who else in that previously named side would have done that?

I think Johnson would be leading, thats my tip at the moment....unless he doesnt perform in the next three rounds.

Steenholdt from darley would have a few votes I reckon.

Maybe they should conduct an IQ test for the EJ? Probably only time of the season you'd score a bagel
