"Of course you're not going to select your own team so I reckon East - by a fair way. Mt Clear's bowlers will be be underdone (not much they can do about it) and Johnno hasn't played a voteworthy game since Round 4. Need good attack over 4 days."

Read lots of interesting predictions about possible finals sides in the build up.

Mount Clear may struggle as it will be impossible for Blake and Kentish to be match fit in the finals. Bowling in nets may not be enough for them. Mounties batting in quite strong however and if they at first and get big total, short spells from Blake, Kentish combined with lots of spin and deep fields will see them tough to beat.

Easties always tough. Proven finals performers. They seem to have a little bot more depth this year which will help them inluding Wright (can play) and Irv back and firing.

Wendouree bit of a wild card. Lots of guns here capable of winning a match however i think they have less depth than other years. Johno hasn't only played two games since round four and Wendouree still winning so other bowlers can do the job. Pyke, S.Miller, Jenkins could all score big runs

Point dark horse. Appear very few week links in their side and possibly a little underated. Very steady bowling and i don't think they need Moore firing to win. Good bats with depth. Wont surprise to see them do well.

I don't think Naps will make it as Point wont drop another game.
Certianly anyone of the top four could win.

not a bad assessment big stix..i liked the bit about irv back and firing...lol..
pretty spot on apart from points bowling.. appleton is very handy but nothing to rip thru the toporders..will need big scores to defend.. wendouree can beat anybody on their day but have been a bit inconsistent, thats a worry.. mt.clear shouldve won on saturday but were bowled out with 11 overs left in the day.like shakes mentioned, only needed somebody to put up their hand and hang around with jeffo.some teams handle pressure better than others.

Jedi, Jedi, Jedi. You are on the money mate.

Credit where it is due though. Moorey has ability hanging out of his proverbial.

Good to see him get some wickets, but when the pressure is on he is not the bowler you throw the ball to. SteveO I am more than happy to send through the number to Moorey, but I know he already has it.

I dont doubt for a second the guy has loads of ability, but there is just the factor of the other linguring issues as previously mentioned.

Yea thought you would like that Irv.
Without Moore Points bowling still can be dangerous. Use Appleton to attack and tie down the other end with Oloughlin and other mediums. Possibly this may may not work if track is not conjusive to spin but Appleton still dangerous. Mounites needed another to hang around however for them there batters it is a lot diffierent for them coming in five down needing five an over compared with batting first and coming in at 5/200 and pasting bowlers all over the park.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Just a qucik one if the 'GOLDEN BOY' is as good as everyone is saying, then why isn't he playing at country week? Surely if he's that good he would love the test of plying his trade against some of the best around the state in country cricket?

turned it down due to work committments and being under the thumb.

hence what people were talking about earlier with having to spend a week away from work earning no money.

and im sure playing at geelong he has already played with and against some of the best around the state considering they have a few state reps

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Lots of talk about the teams in the lead up to the finals. I think ground conditions certainly effect which teams would like to play where. Are these finals grounds set or will they change, depending on conditions. Would likely grounds be:

1st: Austar Arena and Eastern Oval
2nd: Grammar and Sparrow Ground?? only ********ting St Pats or Western Oval

What other turf grounds will be used to play finals on. Most of the others are stuffed on and will be close to unplayable in a month

last years 2nds grand final we played at st pats. we turned up to find holes in the covers which let water through, the pitch marked a yard short at either end and then covered over with bright blue paint.

always fun batting with a bright blue line in front of you on a wet deck

To look on the positive I spose it was better than a bright red line.........

i reckon the western would host the 2's granny and the other semi would probably be st pats unless they ask permission to use private grounds such as napoleons and grammar. Maybe they could play on weeds down at Darley.

Or on the beach at Wendouree:D :D
There is really a shortage of quality grounds due to drought but Western looks ok from a distance. How has the wicket been playing?
