The top four are now 8 points clear. Any predictions for who will make the finals and who won't?

Top four in no particular order will be Wendouree, Golden Point, Mt.Clear, and Naps/Sebas..........Ballarat Redan are suspect and playing above themselves at this stage. Naps have some very good young players especially in the batting, whereas Ball/Redan have a few to many passengers at this stage to make an impact. Mt.Clear look to be on a roll with big wins over fellow top four sides Point and Naps in the last 2 rounds. Wendouree & Point just stumbling a little with losses last week. Pretty accurate summary?

you would think that at any stage Ballarat Redan could start losing, but they haven't. And now they are 12 points clear of 5th (i think). They do have the hot Mount Clear team to play twice in the last 5 rounds, also Golden Point so it will be a tough run home.
Naps loss last week could prove very costly at the end of the year, but they have an easier run home. But yeah it's going to be very close come the end of the year. The other question is will Faulkhead play for Naps at all this year? could be a very handy inclusion.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Who out of all the teams in our association are playing in the country week?
Surely this is the reason why some teams are performing badly.

This years country week squad would have to be one of the worst selected in a long time! Brett Jones from Point as captain is ridiculous.....has he even been to country week before??

If only the BCA would put together the best possible team it could muster, and the players fully committed then it would be more of an honour to represent the BCA, and even players from the poorer teams would improve by striving to get selected.

I see Dan Jordan made another duck on the weekend this time in Naps/Sebas 2nds, to go with his duck and 0/20 of 2 overs in his last outing.......He must be busting to get the footy back in his hands where he can do something useful!

Also agree with you there on an ordinary country week squad. Wheels falling off at BCA headquarters??

I completely agree something needs to be done to bring back the honor and prestige that used to go with representing Ballarat. I mean we have 3 players that played in the victorious Vic Country side, and a couple that possibly could have made it had they tried out. A full strength BCA rep team would be extremely strong right now, but for the individual there is nothing to play for. I mean who wants to play in a side made up of numbers and (no offence) but under a captain probably not up to it.

There needs to be a unified effort to interest the players... Mabye the formation of a prominent 'Players Association' that has reasonable pull within the ranks of Ballarat cricket? Maybe that would unite the playing group?

Has Brett Jones even captained before? Nothing against the guy, he is a great bloke and a fine cricketer, but does he have the experience to control a team of guys he doesn't know?

Don't piss around, who cares if hes a good bloke. He should not be the captain of the people selected to be Ballarats best cricket team. He shouldn't even be getting a game for a start.

I think he is a good enough player to be in that side. He is a great competitor and has made over 300 runs this year. averaging about 40 (thats what it said in the courier)

A good source from wendouree tells me they had it in the bag the whole time.......

Bouncer - I notice that Liam Brady has been doing some penance in the 2's the last few games and making runs (139 n.o. last game). Being a Wendouree man can you confirm if there is any truth to the rumour that Brades may have fallen out of favour with the selectors and the club?

Liam is a great victorian, he will be back in the side before too long. Our 1's have a good balance at the moment even with him making runs i think it is tough to put him in without unsettling a good thing, but yeah 139 no should make it a certainty, he'l get back in I think they just want to see a bit more consistency from him before he gets another chance. But knowing him he probably made those runs hung over or still pissed.

Well you have just blown your cover Bouncer. The only person stupid enough to talk up a pretender like Brady would be himself. No one else rates him, not even his old man. We'll just see how he goes once he is back in the ones.

Like i said lads Im just a 3rd XI battler, I dont know much about any of that, But it is a possibility I guess, he is known for not looking after himself on friday nights, whether or not he has done something else i dont really know. Good bloke though I enjoy a beer with on a sat after the games, maybe ill probe him a bit this weekend and see what i can find out. But if its too personal im not sharing it with you lot :)

If your such good mates with him, can you tell me the last time he made over 20 in a game for the "A" grade? Has he even made a 50 in the ones? I think a player like Matt Turner should be in line before Liam, he has at least proved himself as a match winner with his big hitting and ability to take apart any bowling attack.

One of the easiest things is to identify a problem the hard part is the solution. name you 'ideal' Ballarat rep squad and how do you get the blokes to play, including three coming off two straight weeks of cricket ( I assume you have Pyke Cape and me in the side) at Vic Coutry.

Also keep on trucking Bouncer Any snide remarks at the target heads and point at the score board- your ones will finish top with darley (twice), dodge city and east to play. By the way has Yates lost any weight now that he is married?

Who would your Ballarat team consist of? Would you name yourself? My team in batting order would be:
1.Matt Kelton
2.Les Sandwith (Keeper)
3.Heath Pyke
4.Daniel Scott
5.Chris Bambury
6.Leigh Kentish
7.Matt Cape
8.Steve Appleton (spinner)
9.Simon Allan
10.Lincoln Blake
11.Rob Delmenico
12.Matt Skinner

those unlucky to miss out were: PC,Yates, Sam Miller, Matt Wheeler, Ash George, Brendan Thompson (very stiff) and a few others

Yes Bam Bam would have thought you would slot yourself straight into any team....are you captain of that as well? Well done on the Vic Country win none the less.

Bouncer - any truth at Wendouree to the rumour that Yates actually ate his bride on the honeymoon?
