just had a call from a mate of mine that works at the courier. seems a certain coach of a certain club that currently has 1st innings points in a certain 1st XI GF, has temp booked some space for the 18th march for a premiership photo with the certain clubs sponsors to go around the picture. this certain person went by initials of pj. surely the great man has reached new levels of arrogance, booking this sort of stuff with 2 days of play remaining & the game in the balance. & people used to chant that richard hadlee was a w*nker!!!!

And in line with the first two days play of the GF where 'Captain Reactive' the very own Marty the Monster from Naps has booked his photo shoot straight afterwards. Cant see what the point of regularly plugging gaps with a feilder because a batsmen plays one shot to that area? Noticed Trav Faulkhead's body language and words suggested some disapproval of Leech's decision to bowl first!! I think at 0/113 the exact words mouthed were "...what the F&?K are we bowling first on this Sh^t for?" Must be demoralising for the team to know that senior players have no respect for Leech as skipper.

Now seriously I find this photo stuff very hard to beleive, and not much truth to it. Nice effort in trying to stir up some more anti-Jeffo publicity though.

Mt Clear and Naps really do not dig each other, do they? Great stuff!

Was there much banter on the weekend on the ground? I assume there was a fair bit said to Paull toward the end of the day, then not much said after Darren dropped him.

I'm not anti Jeffo Colonel - have known the whole Jeffo fam including Spook and George for the best part of 20 years and have nothing against any of them. But hate to tell you that the Courier media story is true. The courier subsequently rang our board asking us if we wanted to do something similar should we win. Our response was to say we'll wait to see if we win the game before being concerned with issues like that so..................

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Dont know how true this (it was expressed as a more likely than not) but heard that Crewick Imperials will abandon the BCA to return to Marybrough for all sides next year ??? Good news for the Corras who i think were destined for the scrap heap if Imperials had of shown some dash.

The BCA had never ruled out bringing in Creswick Imperials hence all the surveys last year. I think because they had a lot of guidelines that you need to meet such as turf wicket, contribution to the association etc they would find it difficult to kick out one club without any others also breaking those guidelines.

Off the record Ron Jennings will say he wants Coronet out of the comp and Creswick in. Creswick would have improved had they come into the BCA becuase they would have attracted players who don't want to travel to Maryborough and they have a good oval with reasonable facilities.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Mt. Clear home by 2 runs. What a game of cricket. Tense, hard fought, seemed pretty fair watching from the boundary and a close finish. Not good for the heart rate and definitely not a relaxing afternoon, but a real buzz at the end of the game. Another one of the "pity there has to be a loser" games.

Some gutsy performances over the weekend. Thommo with the ball (6-53 off 33 overs) and Nicho with the bat (84 not out) yesterday in stifling heat and then Ringin batting at the end of the match with one very dodgy foot.

Posted the following last weekend, before finding that the site had been moved - worth posting again:

As a spectator felt that there is room for a bit more BCA involvement. As the showcase game of the year, would be interesting to know guys thoughts on having national anthem like b4 footy grand finals. Couple of food caravans could help in keeping people at the game.

Even a quick milo have a go hit for the kids during the tea break. Promote to schools and get a few kids and parents along. Thoughts? Any other ideas??

Agree entirely. Attended most days of the grand final and the crowds, for an a-grade grand final, were very dissapointing to say the least. There are no incentives at all for people to come along and have a look, besides seeing a good game of cricket. Food vans like previously mentioned and perhaps the introduction of records handed out at the gate, similar to footy games, so that members of the general public that show up can know the players and teams that are playing if they havnt been following the bca throughout the year

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Heard the Mount Clear guys partying last night after they won.
I also saw a group of them singing the song on the way into here.(Ballarat Tafe)
So what have you got to say now Napisan? I know you are a supporter of your team and all power to you.

Carn the mounties!

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Noone can say anything bad about that game. There was not one person out there who didnt bust their guts.

1st Innings
Goonan and Kentish with the bat did really well
Thommo and Ash excellent with the ball

Naps from 5/45 to make 216 was great effort

2nd Innings
Mt Clear to recover from 6/50 thanks to a solid knock from Don 84 not out
Thommo exceptional with the ball finishin with 9 wickets for the match

Naps anchored by a great knock from Cordo 82 got oh so tantalising close.

If you weren't there to watch it then shame on you. Was one of the best contests I have every seen or being a part of. Anyone who was there would agree.

What have I got to say pidegeon? I say you are probably a Mount Clear Stalker. Atleast guys like scud don't hide in the bushes outside the club rooms waiting for a glimpse of the boys.

I don't support Naps or Mount clear so get your facts straight.

Was a great game though. Thought naps were gone but fought back well. Lincoln Blakes maiden and general tight bowling towards the end probably got the mounties over the line.

Agree with carpet legs that more needs to be done to promote the grand final such as food and drink vans etc.

i also agree with carpet legs, i had to leave because i was hungry and with food vans that wouldn't happen.

Congratulations to Mt Clear, they are good blokes. Leith Pelissier is one of the best blokes you will meet and it was good to see that he came through with a match winning performance (along with Nicho).

I feel bad for Clarkey because he deserves all good things to come to him and it was a shame that he was injured because he has been so good for them over many years and deserved to be out there, but knowing him he will just be happy for those who were on the field.

Yeah full credit to players from both sides for what sounds like must be an absolute epic of a match. So many twists and turns with both teams looking well and truly gone at different stages only to then fight right back. Sounds like cricket was the winner there........

Played in a pretty high quality 3rds GF. Wendouree really took the advantage by rolling us for 275 on day 1 after we were 4/230 which always left us a little light on at small and fast progress park. We had a rough chance when we had them 7/260 in reply but they were good enough to get a 1st innings lead and from there played sensibly to secure the win. Great to see young kids perform in big matches. Matt Begbie an excellent mature knock in the 2nds innings for the target heads. Anthony Taylor still another year in under 16's top scored for us in the 1st dig with 60 odd and Kyle Eyres only 15 was arguably man of the match. Runs in both innings and bowled beautifuly without luck constantly troubling all batsmen.

Didn't produce a nail biting finish like the A graders but again a pretty high quality game
