I believe Naps will win because they carry more depth in their batting. Yes they were bowled out for 53 but it was on a goat track that day with Landry cleaning them up. L. Stephen, Micho, George Mcvitty are all aggressive but i doubt they have the technique or temperment to bat for long periods or time against cordon, thommo, ringin and faulkhead. naps middle to lower order will much better handle Mounties bowlers as i rekon after Blake and Kentish who are both guns, their bowling is not strong.

Both top orders are evenly matched and possess strong batters however over four days of cricket it is the middle to lower order of naps and their more consistent bowling will see them get over the line on a close game.
Man or the match prediction: L. Cordon (Will take wickets and make runs)
Here's hoping Naps win.

Anyone got the score from Day 1 of the final?

I would love to see Mount Clear get up and win it.

Mount Clear: 262 & 2/25

Naps Sebas: 213

Game delicately poised.

I know the coach Paull Jeffrey as he used to work for Tracy the placement people. He is a nice guy.
Sam McVitty used to go to school with me and is really nice.
Good spinner.

Ash George would have to be my favourite.

what did everybody think of the game on the weekend? I did tip the team that won the toss to win the game but I didn't back either captain to bowl first. Very strange decision that. I saw some boring batting after tea. Nicho's batting sent me to sleep.

I saw some of the highlights of Sunday's performance on the news last night. Was busy on Saturday and sunday. I don't think that Mount clear should have let Napoleans/sebas reel in the lead.

didn't see any of the play sunday but heard they were 7/128 so very good effort to get to 213 from there. So in the end it could be crucial as you said. being 2/25 the mounties will be worried but its set up for a good finish. Still at the end of the day you would rather be in Mount Clears position with the runs on the board. Still don't know why you would send a team in on a good pitch.

Its always a risk to send a side in, but mainly because of the criticism you get if it doesnt work. In reality, the wicket was going to have a bit in it early and day two was forcast for 35 degrees and was going to be at its best for batting. I think had the opening bowlers been able to get the early break thru it may have been a much different result. Mt Clear 0/113 all out 263 (they lost 10/150). Naps 5/50 all out 213. Hmmmmmm. Happy to stick with Naps here. Very good side who had an off first half. Second half coming up. Is it a burdon to carry a marginal first innings lead. You have the cup in sight, can you hold onto it ???? It would ruin Mad Monday festivities if you lost it.

I know what your saying is true in regard to the wicket. The test match comentators are always saying that batting on the 2nd day is the best because there is always a bit it it for bowlers early on day 1.

I just think the chase factor is always what sticks in the batsmens mind. A couple of maidens and the batsmen think hang on i need to up the run rate etc. Batsmen do things batting 2nd that they wouldn't do batting first. That's why nearly every time you win the toss and bat.

but we arent on international standard wickets either

in ballarat on sat/sun games the wickets always seem to get slower and lower come the middle of the second day?

I think everything gets slower on Sunday except for the frothy consumption on the Hill !! Very conducive to quick drinking these grand finals on days of 35 degrees.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

just had a call from a mate of mine that works at the courier. seems a certain coach of a certain club that currently has 1st innings points in a certain 1st XI GF, has temp booked some space for the 18th march for a premiership photo with the certain clubs sponsors to go around the picture. this certain person went by initials of pj. surely the great man has reached new levels of arrogance, booking this sort of stuff with 2 days of play remaining & the game in the balance. & people used to chant that richard hadlee was a w*nker!!!!

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

I see in the paper today that Gordon have already won their first Grand Final since rejoining the competition this season. There must be a fair chance for them to go up a division next year you'd think.

And in line with the first two days play of the GF where 'Captain Reactive' the very own Marty the Monster from Naps has booked his photo shoot straight afterwards. Cant see what the point of regularly plugging gaps with a feilder because a batsmen plays one shot to that area? Noticed Trav Faulkhead's body language and words suggested some disapproval of Leech's decision to bowl first!! I think at 0/113 the exact words mouthed were "...what the F&?K are we bowling first on this Sh^t for?" Must be demoralising for the team to know that senior players have no respect for Leech as skipper.

Now seriously I find this photo stuff very hard to beleive, and not much truth to it. Nice effort in trying to stir up some more anti-Jeffo publicity though.
