I take it you are talking about Naps/sebas 2nds who choked last three games of the year? Unlucky but the winner is the team who plays the best cricket from October to March.....not February.

Actually Colonel our 2nds lost the last 2 games and in the 3rd last game beat Coronet outright. And our 1sts and 3rds are playing in Grand Finals this weekend after having finished 4th so have benefited under the structure as it currently stands so I definitely wasn't wearing my Nappers cap when I was suggesting amendments.

perhaps do a bit more research Colonel before you try and suggest I'm only looking out for Nappers best interests............

well they're obviously word smiths managing to talk their way out of that...just out of curiousity though...how is it possible to get a suspended sentence on top of a suspended sentence? Isnt the point of a suspended sentence that if you are found guilty again that you are out? hmmm....well good on em. Just means a win will be sweeter...

Absolute JOKE, plan and simple, no 2 ways about it. Should have been rubbed out.........DISGRACE! End of story!

The question begs...If this had occurred 3 Matches ago, what would the outcome have been? Suspension this year or a suspended sentence?
Pretty obvious that answer.

Noone wants to get rubbed out for a GF but surely if you are on a caution and have some previous experience in this game, you would pull your head in for the season and be very careful.

Whether the things that were said were reportable or not is not for debate, he was reported, so the committee has just set a huge precedence. Any player being reported on the eve of future Grand Finals will feel extremely unlucky if they miss out in the same circumstances.

What were they thinking?

Im pretty sure the paper made a mistake. What they have been given is a suspended sentence of 5 games which means that if they are suspended next year, they will get 5 matches added to the total. Poor reporting by the paper i think.

this decision puts the pressure back on Mt Clear, who are going in clear favourites to win.

I like and get along well with players from both teams so i am not too fussed who wins but i still think that given all that has happened Naps could sneak in and take the sheild.

Best of luck to all players from both teams in all grades playing this week.

Don, congrats on your century of posts, lets see if you can produce those type of runs this week

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

The tribunal has a lot of questions to answer how can a bloke go from being cautioned and then reported be let of. It just sets an ugly future for reports in the bca........suely but if you had this hanging over your head you might use some smarts and keep your nose out of trouble.....

Years ago i was suspended for a very silly incident in the last round of the season which meant i had to miss the semi-final.

I had never been warned, cautioned or even spoken to by an umpire about my conduct prior to that which would indicate a good record but it made no difference because i hadn't made a name for myself like Paull has.

This is how it works: you get cautioned for a minor offence of which the umpire thinks doesn't deserve a report. If you get cautioned again during the one season the umpire must report that player. Upon going up on reports he was found guilty but not suspended.

You can't say he was let off because he is still guilty and has a sentence over his head. I can't comment over whether he should have been suspended or not but it looks as though the bca tribunal has followed the correct procedure.

i am unaware of the tribunal procedure and if they have followed it then there is nothing that anybody can say really.

Good work Napisan

Good luck to those lads for getting to play - from a Naps perspective you want to beat the best. No idea what went on and why they were up before the panel and not worried about it either.

But it seems the lower the grade you play, the less chance you have of getting off getting a fair hearing. One of our blokes in the 3's copped 2 matches for pointing to his hip after being dismissed and saying "its hit me here". I dont think any of us would be left playing if that was enforced week in week out.

It all depends on who the umpire is i think. Most umpires understand the game and the context gestures are made in ....some struggle .....and some haveth no idea.

I think the two best umpires give or take are in the ones this week.

I was at both games when they happened. (filled in for thirds) and the difference between the two incidents was that the naps player directly disputed the decision to "the don" which is an automatic suspension. What Jeffrey did was make a sly remark which is what i feel saved him.

Are you calling me a liar??? I was most certainly there. it was a sunday match at Sebas 2 (i played on the saturday, was filling in the field cause they were short). I witnessed one of the funniest things i have seen in cricket, Coach of the year Mr Huntley was playing, glanced the ball to fine leg and made the mistake of admiring his shot. As he was turning around he ran into a brick wall which was his teammate. Huntley was lying on the ground as the fine leg picked up the ball and tossed it to the bowler to run him out. Classic!!!

No it wouldn't be. You quickly learn to laugh about the mistakes printed and move on. it is generally a new source for hanging s*** on blokes at your clubs, and sledging opportunities
