B/Redan need Bam Bam back sorry Greg seems Lynch hasnt really got you guys going this year just shows that even though Bam Bam was not liked around the place he was the one that made everyone put more effort in...

We don't need him back but we would like someone of the same playing claibre yes. He has left a big hole in the team but even though we aren't as successful as last season all the boys would have to agree that they are enjoying this year much more than the previous 4. Ultimately that's what cricket is all about, enjoying playing with a good bunch of blokes. We won a premiership last year but I think you'll find it was a bit hollow/soured by his involvement. Lynchy can only work with the cattle provided, and with injury to key players it's difficult to succeed.

I know what your saying in the fact that he is a good player and i can understand the boys not enjoying having someone like Bam Bam as their leader but i suppose what i was trying to say is that he probably got alot more out of them through fear rather than the boys just going through the motions, have you lost any others from last year or was it just Bambury?
Would you say that it could be different if Bambury wasnt the captain and just a player, that way the captain could control him more???

I don't think the great Bambino can be controlled by anyone mate. I'd like to think that we performed for the team rather than fear of the wrath that accompanied the captain, but in a way I guess there was always that worry that if you stuffed up in any way you'd know about it so you'd try that little bit harder not to cop a spray.
We lost Brett Mason and Simon McCartin from the GF side along with Chris, which has left us an opening bowler short and a keeper/opening bat. Jarrod Allan was meant to fill Mason's spot but a busted shoulder has put an end to that. Skontra has come back as a keeper and is doing a fantastic job but I guess the biggest disappointment is Matt Hoey replacing Bambs. Through no fault of his own (having his first child and living in Geelong) he hasn't been his old self which would have filled the void left by Chris. I'm not sledging Matt in any way, as I've realised of late life is more important than cricket, and your game suffers as both of ours have this year. Did that answer your questions or was it my usual crap ramblings again?

Nah not so bad this time Waka05, i can understand peoples life commits change and cricket does come behind family, but as you agree it can be a great escape some times..
so basically i read Bambury as this
  • The Player - Match winner
  • The Captain - Arsehole
  • The Coach - Un approachable

Got it in one there mate. I rate than man's ability to play the game and win them, but anything else yeah I don't rate the man.
Every now and then he might come up with some good advice, that is when he's not being a bell-end, and can help you out but most of the time it was a battle. I guess for me personally it was harder coz I knew him before he came to our club (worked with him and then became his boss), plus my personality clashed in a big way.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

Enough about Bambury he doesn't even play in the comp anymore. Surely there are more interesting arguments to be had. Like who the final 4 will be or who's going to win the flag.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

gday lads. im a bca forum virgin. im an "a" grade player in ballarat and would like to add my thoughts on the finals race this season..my final is
Mt.Clear
East
Point
Wendouree
as we all know it doesnt matter where you finish in the four as long as rain doesnt play a part. maybe its wendouree's year this year, after underachieving in the last 3 years they will be hungrier than ever to take the next step into a grand final.with their top order getting runs on the weekend they might be peaking at the right time.their weakness will be with the ball, if johnno doesnt get early wickets they can be vulnerable.
Mt.clear are looking good again with Blakey and Kentish back next round but with all the travel that pair will be doing for the next 6 weeks could see them underdone when it counts.that will put added pressure on their top order and we all know what that can do to them...if their batsmen fire they will be hard to beat...
The pointy heads will finish third but with too much reliance on sven and white they will fall short this season, also with P.Moore out for the season maybe??? with a shoulder injury i cant see them getting past the semis.white to win the cleary medal..possibly the youngest ever..
East will be looking to make it three flags in 4 years which will be a great effort if they can do it. Their team hasnt changed much in the last few years and they have a lot of experienced players mixed with some good young kids.playing consistent cricket this year and will be a big threat to take it again.. so my tip is Wendouree v East grand final.. Hopefully we will see an exciting final for a change..lets hope so..East to make it 3 out of 4 and gain the respect they will no doubt deserve..

My tips are that wendouree will scrape into the 4th spot available. But i think that they may just well fall short once again in the semi's against mt clear. East will be too strong for the pointy heads in the other semi leaving them to fight out the g/f with mt clear. Cleary medalist will be Johnson with White 2nd and Burns 3rd. Fair views and tips cobber???

agree with your cleary predictions. johno & josh have been the 2 standouts this season.

i had the same 4 as you until the last couple of posts have indicated that moore has a shoulder injury that could end his season. if thats the case, then point may struggle with the ball to bowl sides out. moorey is a class bowler that has had a real good season. point still need to win their last 2 games to qualify, & without him, they may struggle to do that?

can any1 confirm if this rumour is true?

Swardsy says Pete said he woke up sore then went to throw a ball in from fine leg and felt something either tear or strain through his chest and shoulder. Hopefully all is good from our point of view.

Can only confirm that he went down in a screaming heap after throwing a ball in from the boundary at the Eastern Oval on Sunday against Bendigo. You would hope that his shoulder is stronger than that and he can continue for the Pointie heads and also for Country Week

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

word was on saturday that cape had a major fallin out with steenholdt who refused to play him in the ones. doubt darley would want to lose either of them so i think there may be truth to cape lookin at other clubs.

faulkhead on the weekend was very impressive with the ball. branch and corden were the pick of the bowlers but it was the first time faulkead has bowled in several years and it was very sharp and quick. sent through one of the quickest bouncers ive seen in a while. if he can keep fit naps could be more of a chance for the four than people have suggested..

You will have to ask the selectors that mate. If a few of the blokes that are supposed to be playing could make themselves available we wouldn't see blokes like me in the team. I think they were so ashamed by the performance they left my name off the batting card in the paper. Wouldn't want to make it known that a seconds player was the only bloke (barring Fletch with the injury) not have his wicket taken?

and there is the 1 of the main problems with rep cricket. there is 2 bloody much of it. people have lives away from the game. if they reduced it down to 2-3 games in total, plus country week, i think more people would commit. but when its 5-6 games b4 country week, it gets 2 much on top of your club commitments.

but jennings sits in his office, with his head stuck in the sand. u watch, if the boys fail in melb, u wont hear from him. but watch him get his effing melon on tv if they have a successful week!!!!

the bloke fair dinkum wouldnt know most of the blokes in a grade, would even struggle to put names to the faces of most of the country week squad. when was the last time anyone saw him at an a grade game, talking to the players 2 get a feel for any issues the players may have????

nope, just hids behind his puppet don, who wields his power more than he should coz he knows he doesnt have 2 answer 2 any1.
