rep side wont change that much from last year would it depending on any new gun recruits coming into the comp.
S.Miller
H.Pyke
A.Steenholdt
M.Skinner
M.Cape
R.Knowles
D.Fletcher
P. Appleton
E.Johnson
A.Ringin
P.Moore

Get Pyke to open up and have good depth in the batting with quality all rounders. With Moore, Ringin, Cape & E "Bar" Johnson you have 4 solid quicks & miller, knowles to bowl some mediums.

Fletcher & appleton to bowl spin and the all austalian country wicket keeper heath pyke to keep - not any other retards.

Tipping this side could do some serious damage off field as well with some good drinking prowess.

Dunno how but you could try to find room for Josh White, Rowdy Scott, Thommo, Nate Yates, Simon Irving.....

You'd have a pretty even game if you put two teams together to play each other.

i will be at darley this year. that guy your talking about. made a 100 aganst north 2 years back. good bat. maybe a little loose with the ball. from what i have heard though pretty sharp

100 is a 100 no matter who against. having made a few there not easy to get. but i take your point as a valid one. i looked at norths seasons. i look forward to making some in this comp. who do u think is the team to look out for, seems like we havea pretty good bunch of guys down here

thats nice dear....

he can be as sharp as he likes. bowling 13 ball overs is a joke. as for the 100, north have been struggling near the bottom for several seasons, so getting 1 hundred in the comp over the past few seasons, against one of the struggling sides doesnt make you a good bat. he hasnt got any against the top sides, thats what we judge people on around here

Thanks for the defence ‘SLASHER’!!!

I agree 100% ‘Cobber’

Missed a couple of seasons of cricket and seemed to have developed an oversize right foot!!! In the process of sorting it out at the moment. Should be interesting as some of the so called ‘better’ players in the competition have looked more than uncomfortable when I have kept my foot behind the ‘white line’!

Never really claimed to be able to bat, so I’ll take a hundred against anyone!

As for the ‘BEST XI’ I agree with most of...

Steenholdt – Best Bat
Appleton – Best Spinner
Cape – All-rounder
Thompson – Best Seamer/Quick

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

as many people on this board will tell you, raising money for cricket clubs & keeping them viable is tough work. whilst juniors is an expensive exercise, both financially & in man hours, the long term benefits are usually worth it.

however, i believe that darley will be able to scrap their junior sides & save on the cash, coz with a 2nd import this season, along with all the other outsiders they already have & continue to recruit, its obvious they have no interest in developing their own players.

President - "we need an opening bat, any good juniors?"
secretary - "************ the kids, lets go recruit one"
president - "ok, while your at it, see if you can find a keeper & 2 opening bowlers, moneys no object!!!!"
secretary - "from melbourne or england sir?"
president - "some from each"

You should come down to Darley Park on a Friday evening. You'll be pleasantly surprised with the number of junior cricketer's that Darley cricket club attracts and also the time spent on coaching and ensuring that the youngsters enjoy themselves and ultimately continue to play Senior cricket at the club. I think you'll agree, not an easy thing to do?

Two youngsters to watch this coming year will be Ben Hall and Rohan Parag. Both very talented. Should have impact in 2nd XI and hopefully play 1st XI at some point!

As for myself I'm an 'Australian Resident' and my partner is a Bacchus Marsh girl. She brought me back from England with her late 2005. So, I'm not a DCC import.

I hope this resolves the issue's that you have raised regarding 'junior development' and 'Outsiders'. You mentioned 'from Melbourne or England sir'. Does this mean you have a problem with Alan Steenholdt and Ji Dawson playing for DCC as they are from Melton which is only 13 km from Darley, or is this another jibe at DCC being in the BCA??? I'm sure Ballarat based clubs have cricketer's from area's around Ballarat? Is this any different from DCC recruiting locally!

Pull your head in cobber. 8 players in the 1st XI last year had played junior cricket for the club and come through the lower grades as well. Steenholdt & Dawson are from Melton and Doddy grew up in england so he couldnt play juniors but was at our sister club in the UK - The Darling Lions - in Derbyshire.

Dont start throwing beam balls at us now that you can see we are going to be much more competitive.

Got some great juniors at the club and we are just adding some depth which we have never had in this competition.

hope the money doesnt dry up.......

"More than uncomfortable"! Confidence isn't a problem for you, old bean. Here's hoping you open up and come around the wicket again from your first ball. It's comforting to know that the opening bowler you're facing with a new cherry has already eliminated the chance to get you out LBW before he has started his spell.

dodd may have had some past problems. but people do change so lets hope for the lions sake this season he gets it right, and knocks your head off stevo, over the wicket or around, your old and slow. ha ha
come down to the den on a slippery one then lets see who is talking. im sure your old opener might have a few cherry's to let loose
just make sure your ambulance membership is all paid up.

by the way as if the den ever has a slippery one. the western highway normally runs straight through the den so you should be a little safe.

And I hope Doddy doesnt get too quick. I might finally have to wear a helmet against someone!

stevo just for arguments sake here
if a player wants to leave a club why would you not clear them if they do not want to play for that club. im just talking in general here. for example. if heath pyke is still at wendouree this season. he wants to come to play at point you would want him there wendouree saids no he is not goin to stay at that club. you couldn't go back there, after trying to leave.

another thing on pyke i have heard on the vine that he could be on his way down to the den. after all he is great mates with the show.

pykey is wendouree through and through so i would have 99.9% chance of him being at wendouree this season.

is loyalty starting to become a thing of the past or has it always been the same?
