Ah Highway, another busy day for you i take it? Have you and your team recovered from the dummy spit you had for not making the final on Sunday? Talk about bad sport spoilt brats!!!

Well it was hardly glorious cricket from either side down in Darley over the weekend, and the weather did prove to be the deciding factor, however there was one incredible feat. The bus trip back from Darley saw the breaking of Jezza's 8 stubbie record. David Sproules has now raised the bar to 9 bus stubbies. To make this a little more impressive were the 2 cans he had in quick time before getting on the bus, and at least 4 pots at the pub (good effort for a bloke who wasnt meant to be drinking...). For those of you having to make the trip down the highway, and wishing to become a part of BCA history, the rules are simple: drink only stubbies, drink only on the bus while it is moving. Best of luck, and if you read this at all inzy, congratulations.

Just watched the footage of the last 2 stubbies necked courtesy of Facebook. Looks like old mate Sprouler struggled through the last but was thoroughly encouraged and worshipped by the boys on the bus. Nice effort there neighbour. Remind me not to get in a shout with you in the street Christmas party!!!

1st Time Writer long time reader, didn't expect to get a run on here, thanks for that Sleeper, hopefully the Mrs doesn't read...

You'll be right Wakka, I was actually going to come to your Last Man Stand Sat night, but obviously a little under the weather.

Now a disclaimer, I definitely do not condone binge drinking, but when there's a record to be broken, and you've just lost a game you shouldn't have have some angry beers do ease the pain, even if for a few hours.

Good luck those trying to break the record, I will say this, it takes plenty of peer group pressure and was a team effort.

Well the road trip for us to darley, and I'm sure that there are few others that would be similar, starts from the Hungry Jacks on Victoria Street...so thats our finishing line.

Another game that the Darley senior XI play on the way home is to hang out the window and hit the signs with your empty stubbies. The point system works on the size of the signs being hit. For example big green signs are 1 point, white signs would be 3, speed limit signs are 5 and the small white pickets with the reflectors on them are 10. If you throw over the car it is worth double points.

The car must be moving at no less than the signed speed limit.

Great game and the key is to throw early.

9 stubbies from Darley Park is way ahead of the great david Boon. Thats 9 beers per hour and the flight to england is 22 minimum. Get on a plane sprouley and smash the great mans record.

I'm sure Ian Kiernan (for those who don't know him, the face of Clean up Australia Day) would just love to hear that little nugget there Show. I'm all for a few beers on a bus trip but I wouldn't be gloating about pelting them at road signs on the way home. I guess it's made ok by the amount of your blokes who will be picking them up on their community service rounds........

thats why we do it. We know the boys from the club will be picking them up during the week. Sorry we dont all sit behind a desk waiting for the next post on big cricket.

just spoke with hammer before and he said that 99% of the players they want for rep cricket have put their hand up to play at this early stage. Amazing what a bit of success does and great for the BCA's reputation if they are successful again.

Congratulations also to Heath Pyke (VC) and Sam Millar who both made the Vic Country side for the 2009 Carnival in the Barossa Valley.

Let's take the time to read that back to ourselves a few times. i can't believe you would think that is a) a good thing to do, b) a smart thing to do, or c) a funny thing to do. you darley blokes are certainly a different breed.

you guys love giving it to the old Darley Lions dont you. Life is tough at the top and with all the bagging we are copping shows that you guys are generally concerned we are on the rise. Got a nice little run home after Christmas as well. Everyone else owns up to who they are on here apart a few weak pricks.

Geographically Ballarat is 1,340m higher above sea level than bacchus marsh. This means we would have to drive up and probably the reason why we cant be bothered driving down as we wouldnt get there.

Will find out why we didnt put a side in and let you know lads. Would have been fun but i guess as most of our guys actually have careers in Melbourne (thats the big city DOWN by the bay) it makes it hard to get back up to Ballarat in time.

and to recent comments i suppose skolling 9 stubbies in 40 minutes is a sensible thing to do.......

I have always considered Bacchus Marsh to be a hole but considering Ballarat is about 420m above sea level according to you that puts the Marsh at 920m below sea level. That's one pretty big hole....

Thankyou to the BCA for spreading the games out at some home clubs. Maybe it had something to do with 12 teams entering so it seemed more viable. The initiative is a good one and we should see some good support at each game with the home club benefiting over the bar I would reckon. I think you've got this one right BCA.

I agree with you Show about getting your boys down here to play by 5:30, it's a struggle for our boys to get there early enough as it is let alone the extra hour in the car.

i know this may be off the topic, but can anybody confirm or deny the rumour that last years E.J cleary medalist tried to pick up, unknowingly i would assume, the mother of an young golden point opening bowler?

im not trying to start anything, it was just something that i heard on the grapevine.

Don't think the BCA can take the credit (But I bet they will), Games originally scheduled for Vic Park but they were later informed Vic Park was unavailable.

Speaking of the BCA, has anyone heard or read of the make up of the Kenmac sheild side? Seems to be nothing short of its usual unorganised rabble.... Very interested to know who made the 'cut'
