20/20 semi finals tonight. The game down at sebas saw Naps 7/163 (D. Scott 76*) defeat East all out 115 (Irvs 30+).

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

anyone know what the vri player did that got him reported & last night suspended for 2 matches? just would be interesting to line up the penalties between his, ash george's & irv's.

The following is not an exact account but is roughly what happened.

He was loudly swearing (oh f#ck etc.) after bowling (wides or getting hit to boundary), this happened a couple of times, he and his captain were asked by the umpire to stop it, it continued after the captain and the ump had spoken to him. He then swore very loudly as he got a wicket. He was cautioned as a result. It was his second caution for the same type of offence and then had to front the tribunal.

we must all be honest the bca are one of the biggest jokes getting around they need some new faces in there and people who can relate to the people playing the game......... it's not that hard and all these old people who are trying to hold on to some part of them old selves maybe they should have a look at what they used to do when they played the game bit of a joke if you ask me......

Feel free to put your hand up mate and take on the responsibility. I know from just being Secretary of my club the hours you have to put in to run the show properly often un-noticed by the general population. These blokes put their hands up to run a competition and cop nothing but crap for the decisions they make on a regular basis (admitted, I get into them aswell). As far as I know it's an un-paid love of the game job mostly done after hours away from their families to run a competition that WE play in. Without their input we might not have a decent competition to play in. 20 clubs, 2 competitions, 4 grades in each, 38 games per week, then we include the 25 junior games across 6 divisions each week too, massive effort that.
I too am bemused on occasion by some of the decisions that they make but I'm sure if we knew the full stories behind them we just might understand what goes on in their sometimes senile heads...........

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

First onedayer this Saturday, big game for a few clubs to stay in the mix. My tips for this week:

Mount Clear v Golden point. For obvious reasons
Wendouree v East. Wendouree have stronger bowling attack.
North Ballarat v Corronet Thought id pick a roughie, that deck doesnt suit Hoppy
Naps/Sebas v Brown Hill. Stronger bowling.
Darley v B/redan

My 1.80 fauvorite is that the rain will beat all.
Other thoughts?

I am very good mates with at least three of the BCA board and pennant committee and I can tell you as a fact that they ALWAYS go through the correct processes and protocols to come to any decisions or judgements. The only difference between themselves and the clubs is that they can't afford to let emotion cloud their judgement.

Greg is spot on that a) it is an unrewarded job that these blokes do, and b) if you're not happy with how things are run then put your hand up. These blokes are happy to make their decisions and processes transparent. Just get on the horn and ring any of them.

By the way I reckon Neil Lee, being the gentle teddy bear that he is, would probably rip heads off if he knew he was being referred to as senile. Respect where it's due please!

What exactly are you referring to? The fact that a tribunal outed a bloke who clearly intravened a Law of cricket? What about his own club then who also suspended him?

The BCA are trying to clean up the game, and fair enough too.

It may be worth noting that the guys you are referring to (as running the BCA) all played the game and I would think all of them played at the highest level in Ballarat, and all of them played the game in the right way - hard but fair.

Please elaborate on your point as I don't see the joke???

He is one of the very good ones Sven. For a bloke that could still maybe playing with his kids or at least spending each Saturday watching them to put his hand up to umpire along with his other responsibilities says alot about the man. I should have clarified that only the minority are sometimes seen as senile by myself. Not naming names on this forum though.

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

That should have read contravened a Law of cricket...

Also worth noting that the player involved pleaded guilty, was extremely remorseful and contrite...

mounties v point.. mounties 2 win, too much depth with bat.
wend v east.. close game
nth v corras.. who cares
naps v brown hill.. brown hill in an upset.. if the nappers lose this one it could be shut the gates...
darley v redan.. darley, steeny back.. hes good for 60 odd then run himself out..
by the way don88, u said wendourees attack will be stronger.. so does that mean you wouldve fallen 80 to 100 runs short had you played them last week instead of us..

Re: Ballarat Cricket Association

looking at teams this year, there seams to be a lack of quality seamers.. with the exception of the obvious ones, johnno, thommo when his back is 100% ash ringin when fit again, yates and maybe p.moore.. obviously east lost brand, collier and simpkin in one hit, mounties lost blakey and kentish and dont forget johnny woodhead....redan lost the allen boys this year etc so my point is, i think the teams that have the bowling strength i.e wendouree, naps if fit and maybe darley and east could be the final four this year.. as the decks and grounds get harder and faster it comes down to early wickets and i cant see too many teams blasting thru a top order..also quality spinners can play a part after xmas which brings point back into play with appleton and maybe mounties with bambinos love child "fletch" throwing down some litte outswingers, i mean offies..any thoughts lads???

not sure about shutting the gate irv. we currently sit 5th, half a game outside the 4 & just 6 points off top. so thats hardly panic stations. last season we werent in the 4 at all during the season, claiming the final spot by winning the last home & away game. still lots of cricket to be played.

Does anybody know what happens with players suspension if all cricket is called off tommorow due to the rain? Because I noticed on the website it has the rounds listed which they miss does this mean it will count as part of the suspension?

fair call darren.. im just hoping you dont make it.. another semi final loss during the week against you guys.. i couldnt handle 3 in one year.. if thommo and ash are fit come finals time im sure you will be a big threat again..we know what its like to have frontline bowlers missing, leaves a big hole.. matt ringin looks a likely type.. hows the fitness big fella???

Yes it will count. A round is a round regardless of whether the weather plays a part.

14mm of rain so far today boys, more to come overnight and tomorrow. I'd be very surprised if anyone got in some play tomorrow. Can almost guarantee City Oval is shot by now, you can't play cricket in mud..........

Tend to agree in part re the quality seamers, thing is though it not so much the strike bowlers that always win you games, more so the depth of the attack, certainly what helped Naps last year after Christmas.

Missed out on testing the feet the other night, not to worry, we'll have another go next Sat. At least we ddin't have to cop another battering from the big Dogg.

Re the suspension issue though, there's no way you should have gone last year, first of all you shouldn't have complained because you were out, sensational work by Les, second of all fairly reasonable to be upset when out in a Semi whether a bad call or not.

May as well get on it tonight fellas, fair chance you won't be playing tomorrow
