Bangladesh in South Africa

Re: Bangladesh in South Africa

3/67 at the moment. Rain has stopped play for quite a while now. Ntini and Kallis are the wicket-takers so far on Day 3, Junaid Suddique has top score with 27.

Bangladesh will struggle to make South Africa bat again here unless something drastic happens.

Re: Bangladesh in South Africa

South Africa cleaned up the Tigers side this morning, giving them victory by an innngs and 129 runs. Bangladesh were all out for 159, Mehrab Hossain Jnr top scored with 43 not out. Dale Steyn picked up another five wickets, Jacques Kallis and Makhaya Ntini picked up two wickets each.

Bangladesh were totally outclassed in this game, they'll need to assert themselves a lot better with the bat if they want to be competitive with the Proteas.

The second and final test is starts on Wednesday.

Graeme Smith was man of the Match for his first innings century.

Re: Bangladesh in South Africa

Session 1 honors go to South Africa.

After a very slow start Bangladesh lost Imrul Keyes to Ntini for 6 runs when the score 25. Bangladesh then started to get back on top through Iqbal and Siddique before Morkel got Iqbal for a patient 31. The score at the stage was 2/54. Then Morkel struck again, getting the new man Ashraful for 1 to leave Bangladesh struggling at 3/57.

At lunch Bangladesh are on 3/64. Siddique is on 19 and Mehrab Hossain jnr is only on 1 run off the 3 balls he has faced so far.

Re: Bangladesh in South Africa

Bangladesh finished up with 250 runs. A good score considering at one stage they were 5/122. Junaid Siddique top scored with 67. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahbubul Alam put on 56 runs for the last wicket with Rahim the last batsman dismissed for 65. Extraordinarily Alam was left on 1 not out but did well to stay with Rahim.

Bangladesh then came out and got McKenzie early for a duck. At stumps South Africa are 1/20 with Smith on 15 and Amla on 5.

Re: Bangladesh in South Africa

South Africa are 2/112 25 minutes into the second session of Day 2.

Amla is on 56 and Kallis is on 24.

Smith is the only batsman to be dismissed today, LBW to Mahbubul Alam for 27.

EDIT: Shakib Al Hasan just got Kallis for 24. SA now 3/112.

This kid is a gun!!!

He bowls left arm orthodox and can bat a bit as well. Actually averaging over 30 with the bat in ODI's. I've only seen him bowl a couple of time but he has impressed me each time.

Kerry O'Keefe was talking about him during the last test match. Kerry reckons Shakib is the best left arm spinner in the world. Even better than Vettori which is some feat for a 21 year old.

One to look out for in the future.

Re: Bangladesh in South Africa

Shakib got 2 in the over, de Villiers was out for a second ball duck.

SA now 5/145.

I have Shakib a wrap and he repaid my faith in him with another 2 wickets.

Re: Bangladesh in South Africa

Kid sounds like a gun, lets go Saffers, we want you in fine form for when you play the Aussies.

But very well done to Bangladesh, really punching above their weight here.

I tell you it won't be too long till we see the Tigers mixing it with the best nations in the world consistantly.

They would seriously challenge the New Zealanders at the moment.

At the moment im seeing it as "The New Zealanders would seriously challenge Bangladesh at the moment".

Bangladesh are rapidly improving, and I think would beat New Zealand.

Re: Bangladesh in South Africa

5/215, Prince on 44, Boucher 38. Been a good recovery from these two.

Bangladesh are crap, they shouldn't be playing test cricket.

Re: Bangladesh in South Africa

Another ordinary effort from Bangladesh. After having South Africa in trouble they've well and truly dropped their bundle. The Proteas reached 5/357 at stumps with Mark Boucher and Ashwell Prince putting on a match-defining partnership of 223 runs from only 52 overs. At the close of play, Prince was 115 not out with Boucher not out on 102.

Their sixth wicket partnership is now a South African record, beating the 200 set by Graeme Pollock and Tiger Lance against Australia in 1969-70 and they'll have ample time tomorrow to further increase the record and ultimately South Africa's lead which stands at 107. Two sessions ago, South Africa were trailing by more than that figure.

Shakib al Hasan remains with three wickets and is argubly their best bowler at the moment. He has received very little support with Boucher and Prince having little trouble with the Bangladesh attack.

South Africa escaped there, they've got three days remaining so there's plenty of time left in the game. They'll be keen to bat for as long as they can tomorrow and if Boucher and Prince can keep going like they have today there's no reason why they can't have a lead of 250+ after the completion of the first innings.

Re: Bangladesh in South Africa

Another dreadful effort from Bangladesh. South Africa's innings was wrapped up pretty quickly on day three. Boucher was dismissed early in the morning session for 117 by Shakib al Hasan who then found himself on a hattrick when Morne Morkel was bowled next ball. He didn't get the hattrick but got a wicket on the final ball of the over, with Monde Zondeki getting a deflection off his gloves. Shahdat Hossain then cleaned up the tail as South Africa finished up with 429, a lead of 179 runs.

Shakib al Hasan finished with six wickets, another great performance by him there.

In reply, Bangladesh started badly, losing Imru l Kayeson the stroke on lunch. A collapse saw Tamim Iqbal and Junaid Suddique lose their wickets and then Mehrab Hossain Jnr and Mohammad Ashraful were both run-out within two overs of each other. Shakib al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim went cheapyl and Bangladesh find themselves in tatters at 7/126, trailing by 52 runs. Raqibul Hasan is up to 28 and Mashrafe Mortaza has attacked everything earning him 19 runs so far.

For the bowlers, Ntini and Morkel have two wickets with Kallis the other. Then there was the two run-outs.

Plenty of work to do for Bangladesh, still 33 overs remaining today so we could see a result on day three which didn't look likely during the middle of yesterday.

Re: Bangladesh in South Africa

Just as I spoke, another wicket falls. Another dumb run-out by Bangaldesh, Hasan goes for a suicidal single and Prince effects a direct hit. Silly, silly cricket.

8/126. Shahadat is in.

Re: Bangladesh in South Africa

Shahdat gone first ball. Guides to third slip giving Zondeki his first wicket of the innings.

9/126, last man in is Mahbubul Alam. Should definitely see a result today, never saw that happening when Boucher came to the crease yesterday afternoon.
