Batting grip

Batting grip

Hi, erm can someone help me, i cant find a comfortable batting grip, ive many different grips but just cant find one that suits me, and wat does it mean, V's in line?

Re: Batting grip

Spread your index finger and your thumb on both hands. Then pick the bat up in the gap in between the index finger and the thumb.

i think its because my bones stick out from my thumbs

That sounds interesting. Is it possible to post a photo [like the one Jonesy posted] of you gripping the bat?

Re: Batting grip

ok ill try..... cuz of my joints of my fingers and thumb i also have problems catching because i cant join my thumb together or my small fingers.

Re: Batting grip

Many people have tried unsuccesfully to change my batting grip, and in the end just given up trying to convince me. I sort of have the bottom hand in the V grip, but my top hand is sort of in alignment with the edge of the bat. I fail to see how anyone can play an offside shot with the grip shown above.

Re: Batting grip

Like if you run your finger down the handle from the gap between your thumb and finger, it would end up at the edge.

Check this out, Sir Donald Bradman's Grip:

I am not a fan of having a fixed grip. It's better that your brain processes your own grip, as you play more and more, depending on your inputs and required outputs. Inputs: Watching the ball throughout. Outputs: Playing the ball through a gap, countering the swing, easy follow-through and power, middling the ball.
Cricket is a mind game and if you can imagine the shot you wanna play or the way you wanna play, your brain will process a grip to enable you to do so. So I guess you should just play with what's comfortable (unless it's really bad, like holding the bat the other way round :D - anyway post a pic).

There are many articles in which the greats tell you (lara, sachin, etc - i jus read one on gilly) that they have no idea how they do some particular thing - it just comes naturally. These things have come as the result of processing by the brain with inputs from you and the required outputs.
