Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

No tips for Jimmy as he was absent from computer access for a couple of days, for the record would have tipped 7 winners. Merl, did sort of expect OB to arrive Sunday morning but alas would have had no Horlicks trophy to present. Tap on the door harder, I'll be there from 9am - 12 noon on Sunday for the last time for 6 months!!!
A couple of clubs advertising may have already parcelled up their new appointments first being a former Juggy from many years ago with no handicap as yet and Moorabbin turfie from a few years ago yet to bare his claws (both quite Noble lads) and yes another couple might be headed home whilst yet another disgruntled leader who performed well at the brownlow could be heading for greener pastures. As Clock man said, just rumours.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Just a note to say well done on another great year Jimmy. Don't know how you do it. Radio show, newspaper column, devoted husband, social butterfly, card player and to boot, a regular job. To all the other regular contributors on the radio show, and those who have covered for Jimmy when he has been away, well done. It has added a much younger perspective and a freshness to the show. It would be great to see the show streamed live next year and who knows one day we may even get to see a final live via the internet. Again well done.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

I'll second that. Does a massive job in promoting the local game and does it with aplomb.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Yes well done Bunter...

Filling in for him during his month away in November with the Leader columns showed that the Sunday morning deadlines are not fun when you've had a big Saturday night (trying to get info at the games), not to mention following that up with heading off to the Southern FM studios.

Massive job that doesn't get enough credit.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Evening All,

Before I get into the deep and meaningful stuff I am looking at running the AFL Big Mac Photo Identikit tipping contest. As it starts tomorrow night I will take tips tomorrow and even be a bit lenient by letting people enter next week with the lowest score from this week.It will mean Uncle Mick & I don't have to just talk to each other all winter long.

I will add my thanks to Jimmy for his efforts on many fronts and If Barrack and co were half as efficient we would have a sensational comp.my courier tried to deliver Saturday morning or even during the week if anyone is there.Vinnie are you still alive and breathing?

Where does old Merl start

I went shopping for a Christmas trinket to adorn the Santa Claus Finals tipping contest trophy and I must say thare are not too many trinkets still in shops in March!!!

The Dud has elaborated on any another brawl at the Duncan St festival hall and Merl is just shocked that Barrack continues to play games at the known trouble spot.I hear some giberiss about playing the game at the higher sides ground which is just garbage when mark Rainey put in a system of playing them at the best ground's in the comp. The Jellies were a bit scared to play at the bowler friendly oasis ground and as usual got their way.Next we know we will see the re emergence of the pink cowboy hat and the millionaires getting amongst it again.

Poor old Moorabbin West didn't get the luxury of playing at their home ground and some much needed revenue in the Bluff Rd Cup decider.Instead they were shipped off to the political nighmare's head quarters which is devoid of all things needed for a interesting and spectator friendly contest.

Dud don't wear out that keyboard with two posts in two days and not a stutter in sight.

Clocker,

I credited you with more intelligence and don't give me this 'when this new system comes in nonsense'.

As I will say for the last time a 10 team comp will strengthen all grades and make them more competitive when they come up and go down.If it was an automatic 1 or 2 up or 1 or 2 down it would take out the parochial self interests of congress when it comes to vote.It should be automatic and then no one is in doubt whether they are on the up elevator or down elevator and Clocker if we get your beloved ANA senario when we nearly got ANA green and ANA gold so be it.

Child,

Don't give that complete rubbish of missing bats and being rain out as it happens now whether it is 10 12 14 or whatever no.Presumably yopu are still opening the batting and if you get lucky you and say 1,2 or 3 batsman could bat all day and therefore deny the other batsman a hit.The millionaires made 3 or 4 for 320 odd which got them briefly into the finals which was a good result, even if many of their batsman missed a hit!!!

10 team grades will improve all grades get your head out of the sand!!

Great rumours

Child back to oasis two

Moose back to the brick

Maybe my good friend the oasisless Bott could give us confirmation on some of these so we don't go off half baked.

Uncle Mick,

The BBQ were voting on harry and would have very little idea of the criteria for Harry.BMF should have got the nod as his score ensure the jellies wobbled over the line and would have been a worthy winner.

Archie

Congratulations on your SCFTC win and your usual support in the long forgotten 10 team debate which in the words of David Hayes these knucle heads wouldn't understand.

Brirash

How do you play cricket in winter?

that's enough to ponder and I look forward to your BMPIT tips.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

merlot u talk so much rubbish i dont even know why im bothering to reply.. boredom i guess is the answer.

bother to play games at known trouble spot.. i guess u didnt read the details of my above post.

maybe they are played at duncan st because..
a) esbc finished on top
b) the ground is one of the best in the comp, with a fence
c) it is a good ground to watch cricket from.. unlike hurlingham & washington
d) it doesnt have one of those spongy pitches that ruins the game.. like mackie
e) mackie were the ones who actually wanted the game at esbc, having beaten us there in the few games previous...

so, i guess u should get your facts straight, as east sandy did not mind playing the game at hurly taking into account the larger specimens in the mackie team having to run between the wickets more, and more in the field aswell

not sure what the pink hats and millionaires thing is all about

you still havent congratulated easts on winning the flag?

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Now Dud you have a short memory,

a factual
b debatable
c agree on 1 not so sure on 2
d not sure a spongy pitch ruins the game and if you are that good as you claim to be you should be able to play on any surface.
e I did hear of that request.

Merl always get's his facts right.

Pinks hats and millionaires refers to a little ruckus between the jellies and millionaires where a bit of damage occurred and quite a bit of liquor was consumed at Moorabbin West.......... remember now.

hell will freeze over before that occurrs.

Glad to see you have corrected your stutter!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MERL

He said
B) is one of the best grounds in the comp, not the best.
C) Hurly stinks to watch cricket at, Uniting after the new grass is right up there for atmosphere and viewing

By the way Merl can't wait to our paths meet, your condescending name calling has had it's limits.........you were warned on several occasions.
You come on here and act the big fish thinking you can run agendas and that your opinion is number1 thinking you can get away with what you want being disrespectful despite the fact you asked me to drop the 'OLD MERL' which i did.
I hope for your sake your name anonymity remains.

By the way congratulations Ant.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Congrats to all grand final winners over the weekend.

Won't talk about our game too much but we were well set up at the tea break and lost it in the half hour after that.

Back to the Longy game and for as long as I have played sport I gathered that once you lost the semi you lost the right of top spot and Mackie would then have right of choice in grounds available for selection.

There is nothing wrong with the Mackie pitch and obviously clubs would rather play on a road than something that has sum substance for the bowlers. I think mats might have done a bit more back in the day. Batsmen have got it too easy now and can just stay on the front foot without thinking twice.

I have heard that Chelsea Heights ground was well below standard but somehow they still got a home final. Go figure!

No one cares about your opinions Brett!

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Suck it up Princess, if you don't like what i have to say then don't read it.

Whilst your at it as you clearly speak on behalf of everyone that logs in on here, how will the newly promoted teams go nest season.

Re: City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 09/10

Just want to clear up a few things.

Merl - like the idea of the footy tips and will include mine at the bottom of this post. And I hope you're not inferring that FFF is the big Dud. I can assure you he doesn't even look at this forum let alone contribute to it. The pink hat cowboy from the day in question was the main 'participant' from the side of the millionaires. Agreed that BMF deserved to take home Harry, but didn't want to take the gloss off the performance from Cheeks. Now that people have, I must say I walked away from the ground scratching my head and wondering if the umpires were trying to get themselves noticed with a controversial decision - which in itself was a shame given they were fantastic throughout the course of the game.

FFF - you're kidding yourself if you think Merl will succumb to acknowledging the feats of the Gold Caps. You've got a better chance of him revealing his identity. Be the bigger man and accept he ain't gonna massage the ego. And whilst the home ground is sometimes quite ordinary throughout the year the club has consistently done a great job in getting it up for finals. The weekend was probably the best it's been in a very long time and very worthy of hosting the big dance. It must be said that the ground is as good as it gets from a spectators point of view. Also you told us earlier 2 out of 3 ain't bad, but didn't elaborate on what 8 out of 9 is. Better perhaps....?

Bottsy - firstly, commiserations. As for your comments about the bowler friendly pitches, I couldn't agree more. The game is tailored to the bats these days. Everyone wants a spectacle as is evidenced by the ever increasing popularity of the T20 concept, but a match dominated by bowlers doesn't hold any weight with the spectators and therefore the roads like Chisholm, Hurly and almost every other ground in the CMCA will always take precedence. Still miffed at why MW couldn't host a GF. Surely they deserve some reward for competing in 3 consecutive GFs of which the 3rd they finished on top.

A trifle bit embarrassing it is that a person has taken it upon themselves to send empty threats to an anonymous poster they've taken umbrage to, however if you don't like what they themselves post, then don't read it. A contradiction in terms perhaps???
