City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 2010/11

Greetings BCFers, it's been a while between posts. Merl, you were unwittingly spot on about my child like ban, though, this one was imposed by my new born son (Pete Ross - born Jan 7th). Kirsten and I have been ultra busy of late.

It seems that my absense from the BCF has had an unpleasant parallel with the absense of the spiders batting talent. After such a promising start in Longy this year and with the weather providing an almost bespoke season for them, it's been a disappointing last half. Though positives are there for next year, as their bowling and fielding have been consistent enough to provide their best finish to date. We'll still keep on weaving.

Merl, my apologies for a complete disappearance from the M/H and Bobby Dazzler comps (fatherhood takes it's toll in the first months), but hope to make it up in the Saint Nikolaus comp (Black Peter for the Morocans out there).

Poor old Shamrock... the only club not significant enough to get a nickname from Merlot.

Adam,

Good pick up but I couldn't get them confused with the Burgermeister's winter Rocker's and in my haste didn't think of anything else.I am an old man after all.Any suggestions?

Apologies also as I think you deserve some of the credit for the naming of the Father Christmas Finals tipping trophy as you likened the mystery that is Merlot to that of Father Christmas much to the disgust of the ever wondering but never finding out Burgermeister.Brings back child hood memories of running out to the street to catch a glimpse of Santa who we always seem to just miss.

I hope you and Uncle Mick will be major players in the Father Christmas Finals tipping contest now both of you don't have the shackles of slecting your own teams that realistically were not going to win too often without being rude.

Perhaps the Irish Luck Charms can prove their significance to Merl with a win on the weekend...?

Uncle Mick,

The old boy cannot see any bolding on your Bluff Rd Cup selections and being the Gentleman ( oops ) I am and also a good BCF buddy of yours I didn't want to see you a couple of points down given Merl's great tipping form of late.

Please correct unless I am really going senile!

Merl

Apologies old chap. Tips are Wash Ups & Billionaire 2s as mentioned in my preview earlier in the week.

As for comments about our side never being a chance, based on the overall season that's fair, however on only 2 occasions did we field our best 11 and both times won comfortably. Anywho, we're all about looking fwd to hosting finals now and then preparing for our 50th season later this year.

Uncle

I knew you would pick me up on the tipping and know that with your best team you were a gebuine chance but you rarely got the best team out there and when you got the job done. That's probably what the party boys were afraid which i think is a pathetic effort of both their part and the CMCA that there was no game.We have lost enough cricket without wimps simply not wanting to play!!!!

Peter Parker and Kirsten my hearty Congratulations to the new addition to the web and hope you are all coping as it seems eons ago old Merl had a new born!!!I hope the child will improve your tipping and it is good to see numbers are building for the currently Archie held Father Christmas Finals tipping contest.

Some good lively material as the smell of finals and that one or two days in march loom large

Merl

Merlot, what are you talking about? You scored a new born child only a year or so ago with young Brett.

As for Shamrock, I'm suggesting something to do with Eoin Morgan, who would be the most disappointed man in England / Ireland cricket history after last night's surprise.

WIth the possibility of ruining my tipping chances, I have at least one more game where I'm backing my club in D Grade, of which I was fortunate to sub field for on the weekend... I am confident of a win.

Here you go Merl,

You have got your wish, what would you write about if it wasn't for me, i dominate your life!!

I am tipping, but Cut to the chase tho..Premiers as follows
Esandy (units to choke)
MWest (finally after 4 years to salute)
& Centrals in I grade, don't care about the rest !!

PS- am still on the hunt to unwind the mystery, I have added a new contender into the mix for Merlot... I will keep you posted !!

Burger,
I would respectfully suggest that if you got on line with Sportsbet you may get some decent odds for that trifecta i.e 33/1-50/1.
If the ICC does not closely examine the outcome of the Ireland-v-England match last night then they are kidding themselves. If Pakistan had been involved everyone would be screaming 'fix'.

Finals tips as follows.
Longy - Hoops - too much pressure on the Billionaires
Gold caps - with BIG mossy fan to get another bag
Wooly - Heighters - Locky to dominate
Billionaires - westers to choke as usual
BD - Billionaires
- Vandal Park
D - Hoops - Leb army to dominate, watch out for fireworks
- Royals
E - Billionaires
- Merls beach boys - i don't know why
F - Hoops - easy
- Vinnies mob
G - Billionaires
- Panthers
H - Gold caps
- Dog park
I - Golfers
- Machine

Now the home & away season is finished, a few suggestions for Longy team of the Year.
Russell, Lalor, Bunting, Kuzma, Manders all walk up starts.
Lee, J. White, M. Reid, Delac, Rasmijaan, De Haan, Park all strong chances...

Hopefully East Sandy have done their homework and worked out that M. Bunting is not a big fan of a little chin music. By the way Marshall, in between ducking practice could you please post where we can park at the beachside Oasis? Apparently parkings easy, if you know where....

Hopefully Unions three captains can keep it together for three more weeks. Is it a case of too many chiefs and not enough Indians? Certainly no love lost.

As for Uniting, is this the week that C. Manakis FINALLY breaks in to the side? Surely with D. Britt out of the side this opens the door for the little man? Apparently big chubba is bowling backwards....

Can the brotherhood from Sandy get their ageing bodies up for one more crack at the title? Will Jenkins and piggy be on the back of the Toyota Hilux doing a farewell lap before the game?

Casper,

Being new you need to pay more attention.Field Marshall Bunting explain what some of us have known for years but as you only fly in and out occassionally you obviously didn't read that there is parking for 30 cars free of charge inside the ground,There is free parking in the road/ laneway to the top/side of the ground near the nets and then he also said there was free parking in the streets on the other side of beach rd.

Now be a good little ghost fly around the grounds then you won't have to park at all.

Merl

Cheeks made a come back at about Rd.8 and the body couldn't get through. Don't expect to see him playing cricket again anytime soon, but he might be wheeled around on the Hilux. Not sure if Biggie's backside would allow the 2 of them on the same one either....

Burgermeister,

On the list of priorities you are down the very bottom of my life, the child may even rank higher!

You cannot win the prestigious Father Christmas Tipping Trophy with 3 picks show us you are a man and not mouse by having a go at the full deck like you do in the poker games with Jimmy and see if you are best of the best.

I will be interested in your latest theory of tracking down the elusive one but I am sure Adam and I will be devastated that Father Christmas has been de beard.

No doubt our paths will cross during the finals so pay attention I could be the one sharing a frothy with Uncle Mick so that cuts it down considerably for you!!!

Adam

Couldn't even find a website or any information on the leafs but I believe the lady of the tram maybe able to help!

If Warry doesn't get a gig as an opening bowler, there will be an enquiry..

Not sure of exact figures, but hardly gone for more than 10-15 runs a game (9 overs max, because of 1 dayers) & would have 20 or so wickets... I cant recall him even being hit for a boundary from memory??

Burgermeister,

Don't you know how to look up my cricket. Also you may need someone with the alledged computer skills of Old Merl as the two blues haven't bothered to update Rd 11 yet.

Up to Rd 10 young Warry ( they are all young to the old boy ) had 14 wickets for 138 at an average pf 9.9 which could win him the 100 metre dash.

Merl at your assistance once again
