City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 2010/11

Burgermeister,

Why do you care, you dont play & are not involved (so you tell us, but i have my doubts??).. Just looking for something to whinge about??

stick to telling us how go you were, dominating in G grade for all thos years!

Burger, Yesterday at 8:48 AM Report

At my age I am past playing but I actually played in the days of A,B,C,D grades etc.I am pretty sure the comp didn't go down to G Grade then therefore denieing Merl the opportunity to dominate as he did in other grades.

If you can find Archie in the sub comtinent 1300archie he will give you a blow by blow description of how good Merl was!

You are actually sillier than I thought with what do you care!!!!!!!

I have a great interest in the CMCA and how it has gone down hill.Unlike your sooky la la self I am a regular contributor to the BCF and provided participants the opportunity to enter the various tipping contests thereby giving up much of my time to organise and provide details to participants.

If you have buried your self imposed ban because you couldn't stay away I challenge you to enter the Father Christmas finals tipping contest with the name inspired by your good self!!

By the way you never answered my question of why is the timepiece different to Merl do you know him or are you just a hypocrite in only having a go at some people you don't know rather than all of them?

Over to you I just served another ace down the middle line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As you well know I liked to play the ball on the rise and watch it sail over the pickets!!!

Well the H & A is done and dusted and the billionaires are still to taste defeat and will host the pretenders at the oasis. Can two former greats in Manakis C and the Golden Greek force their way into their respective teams for the semi formal before the big dance.A Russell Merl's odds on for the Bronwlow before Christmas got another 3 on the weekend but I did run into Bertie the Bagman who suggested Merl's own Field Marshall Bunting is not without a chance.

As usual merl will be running the Father Christmas ( as suggested by Burgerneister ) Finals tipping comp. Thanks to all my loyal but few followers who supported the Merlot Horlicks comp with details of the great man's victory to follow:

I am also promising to put more time and effort into the Big Mac/Photo identikit footy tipping trophy ( the name again inspired by the Burgermeister ) currently shared by Uncle Mick and myself and will run the footy tipping for anyone interested.

Speaking of the great Big Mac I was under his nose again on the weekend but as usual he had no idea he was in the prescence of Merl the elusive one he desparately wants to expose!!!

Being the humble old fool I am it is hard to feign modesty as I pull off the big daily double with the Vo Rouge front running staying performance to hold off Jimmy with my lowest score of the year in the M/H , while out lasting the great Army in the Bobby Dazler with a perfect 6 to wrap up preceedings in the final round.the final scores if they will print out properly are as follows:

Again once again thanks to all participants it has been a labour of love as Merl proves he is not just a whingeing old fool as incorrectly labelled by some of you but actually knows a little bit about the game.

Congratulations to runner up Jimmy who like the saints in the sept big dance got close but no cigar, but he knows more about cricket than he thinks he knows about Merl.

Word from Archie is that he is enjoying the sub continent and has avoided the delly belly so far and could have a ship load of new recruits visa's permitting.

Best of luck to all finals participants apart from the thimbles who Merl's Beach Boys will be out to beat them again this season.

Merl over and out

Merl, Bet you never won a longy/a grade flag, did you? Did east sandy hurt your feelings at some stage, is that why you don't like us??? Maybe u never beat us?
how much of a loser does merl sound?

As a longmuir premiership player, someone who has beaten ESBC, and a complete arsehole in my own right impervious to my feelings being hurt by half-witted rooster vacuums. I can inform you completely impartial to yours and Merls' repartee that nobody likes ESBC

BMF

you are the only one HUGE, and the last time I looked before you came out of your hibernation cave,Merl is a recent two time winner. It must be finals time all the Clocker Nought Thimbles are crawling out of the woodwork expecting the thimbles to manipulate their way through another finals series!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just bring on Merl's Beach Boys!!!!

TOB,
Yes probably older, yes the memory is going, not sure I am more irrelevant than you and for your and Burgermeister's sake Merl never played G Grade regardless of when it started.

Guy,

A man of my own heart as any Longy Premiership player to inflict a Big Dance loss on the thimbles can share a frothy with Merl anytime.

Bring it on with finals in the air Merl was always at his dominating best

Merl over and out

As if u ever won anything, what year? who against? I doubt it

I agree BMF, keyboard warrior who has never won jack @#$% !!

probably used to get bullied for being a Nerd, so now has all this pent up aggression to take out behind a faceless computer !!!
who's the Sooky La La now Mr Merl !!

Just own up, as until you do.. you will never have any cred with anyone in here (peole do respond, but they are not to kind from chats i've had with most)! & you will just be thought of as lonely/ scared old loser who knows how to work a computer !!

Played in a 1s flag........ I nearlly fell off my chair .. Stick cricket doesn't copunt nerd- ahahha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, now kids. Leave the school yard squabbling for the playground. Most clubs don't like East Sandy. Having crossed to the dark side and come out the other end, I think I'm probably best qualified to have an opinion on the matter. The simple fact is they play the game hard and they look after their own. As a collective group they're no different to any other club. You have individuals who are humble in success and those who like to boast. There will always be a select few who like to remind everyone just how good they've been and even some who like to remain anonymous to antagonise, but it would be a naive man to judge a club by the actions of the minority. That said, there will also be those who have had a negative encounter or an incident that leaves a lasting impression and with all their success it makes it easier to hold a grudge.
At the end of the day, it wouldn't be much fun if we all got along, would it....? The game needs a bit of rivalry and in this case it's ESBC versus the rest because any club would be lying to themselves if they didn't harbour the ambition to savour the sort of success ESBC have had in the last decade or so....

Moving on to the weekend's matches and low & behold it looks like we'll have a bit of rain to contend with. Let's hope it's not enough to impact on the cricket cos we've got some cracking finals coming up. Elwood will be out to knock off the Juggernaut & Union will be hoping to inflict Uniting's first loss whilst somewhat removing a bit of a monkey off their back. In Woolnough, Uniting have shown glimpses of a Premiership contender, but also a few lapses in between. Moorabbin West have been fairly consistent except for that one week. It should be a ripping contest with both sides legitimate contenders to go all the way. Chelsea have been a surprise packet for mine. I can't get a gauge on them cos I haven't seen them, but they've done very little wrong and went close to knocking over the Wash Ups last week. A long overdue captain's knock from 2009's Knights Award winner was enough to give the Wash Ups the psychological edge heading into finals. My tip is for the Uniting double this week and the Juggernaut to sneak home over Merl's Beach Boys, while the Woolnough 2nd Semi will be another Wash Ups win.

Bentleigh uniting vs Brighton union
Lalor vs Kuzma
Russell vs bell
Uniting ust getting over the line

East sandringham vs Elwood
Manders vs bunting
Dallas vs de haan
Esbc easy

My two cents... (I'll sticky to Longy as my Woolnough knowledge is somewhat limited)

  • Uniting to beat Union
  • My boys Elwood over ESBC.

Cheers for the beers after the game on Saturday at Peterson Oval Mick.

Good luck to all clubs and players ahead of the finals this week.

Hmm Brian not too sure about that tip. I predicted a fortnight ago that the Spiders could cause an upset of sorts and they duly accomplished their task. Not a good preparation prior to participating in a cut throat final. Granted the Jazzmen were successful in defeating an under manned Juggernaut Round 2, however this is when it gets serious and there are no better than the experienced Juggernaut and I cannot see them dropping this one.

The Hoops had a regulation win against the Royals and now have the opportunity to do what no other team has managed to do, and defeat the rampaging Uniting. To add some spice it was interesting to note that the Hoops had a former multiple premiership Under 12 CMCA coach lurking in the bushes on the weekend with binoculars in hand and making detailed notes on all of the Uniting players. You know it is getting serious when Phil is up and about.

The Hoops batting line up looks strong on paper, and if they get their act together then game on. In Round 2 they managed to fall short against Uniting, with all the name batsmen getting starts, but none going on with it. The Hoops did not have Pothitos in their line up and there is also the vexed question whether they load up and play the Champ. There is also some doubt whether Veitch will be playing. Is he injured again as he was during last seasons finals? If so then their chances could disappear with him. Uniting has not really been pushed this year, even with so many one day matches. They have made one score over 200, and that was against the Jazzmen and somehow stole the 20/20 title again over the Jazzmen.

No one has seen Uniting have to chase down a decent score i.e. 250+ where they have had to scrap and dig deep. The Hoops believe that whilst Uniting has some exceptional players their batting line up could be a little brittle especially if they make in roads into the top order. I have to question the mental strength of the Hoops as they do not have the self belief to win this match.

Sponge Bob where are you hiding? You can’t make a match winning ton and then say nothing. Some insight against your opponent. It was a tight encounter down at the vast windswept expanses of Caulfield Park. This week the road show takes the Sharks to the cozy surrounds of Mackie Reserve where they do battle again with the Heighters. Yes they may have lost the one dayer but this one is important as it gives the winner the week off. Both teams seem to be evenly matched and it promises to be a close contest. The Sharks should just overcome a gallant Chelsea Heights.

Finally a home final for the hapless Moorabbin West. Thrice Grand finalists they meet a very powerful Bentleigh Uniting outfit in a cut throat final. A few of the Uniting players may still consider themselves an outside chance of participating in a Longmuir Grand Final in the event that any of the players trip up or are injured. The Weststars have dropped two games this year including that dreadful performance against the Party boys. That effort has been well and truly exorcised, but it always remains in the back of the mind. In Round 5 the Weststars overcame a disappointing and undermanned Uniting. On this occasion both sides should have full lists to choose from and Uniting’s batting depth looks imposing. C&P Manakis, Junior Backman, Theidmann, Zaia, Harris and co.The Weststars have Wallace McConville, Worker, Bott and Aydin. This could be Bottsy, Worker and McConville’s last chance so they will be fired up.
Should be a ripper of a match in what will be no doubt a big crowd. Weststars to spoil the Uniting party and get up.

Army's Green Wanderers take on the loaded up Cowboys. Their last encounter in Round 7 resulted in a close win for the Wanderers, but Army knows that this will another close match.A very convincing win in Round 11 passing the now relegated Southside ensured a final's appearance, but I am sure they probably wanted a better hit out. The cowboys had a stroll in the park against Cheltenham Park with their top order getting some valuable time in the middle. Both teams finished with 8 wins and are evenly matched. Wanderers to get up and the wine and cheese platters to be out on Sunday night in celebration.

The Sharks and Uniting meet in the major final and this should be another great contest. The Sharks were victorious in their last meeting in Round 8. There is experience in both teams with Milner and Brisbane whilst the evergreen Meaklim just keeps on going like a fine swiss watch. The Sharks to celebrate a double and a place in the Grand Final.Oh yes the fat lady will be singing long and loud into the night.

Good luck to all and if there are a few drops of rain let’s not go down the one day route. All of the grounds are in exceptional condition and will absorb the rain.

Just backing my own Clock, just backing my own.

I was initially confused by these Jazzmen you were referring to. Then it occurred to me that is was the byproduct of last week's discussion. Please refer to us as the beach boys as I quite like my avatar thingie and Brian Wilson is as synonymous with jazz as I am with objective tipping.

Great write up as usual BTW.

Just keeping a massive lid on things Clock.... and staying out of the sh!t canning that was the last 2 pages worth on the BCF!
I agree, it will be a close contest in Wooly for sure. We edged out Uniting by 1 run, lost to Westars in the last over, and got across the line this week - chasing a few, so proof is there, they're all good teams!
Looking forward to playing at Mackie this week, and Uncle Mick's from then on - in whatever game comes our way....
wink.png

Uniting has such incredible depth this year that it is hard to overlook them as a genuine threat from 4th spot. It will be interesting to see who ends up playing. With their top three 3 teams (at least?) playing this first week, it will make for one VERY interesting selection night this Thursday - that's guaranteed! Will Chrissy get a chance to play Longy?? I hope so, out of respect of course...

Evening All,

Burgermeister you will never know who Merl is and it will drive you insane , Merl is just too clever for you.

Biggie Phelan Merl's stats stake up quite nicely don't you worry.

Uncle Mick, the Henry Kissinger wise head elder statesman of the BCF well said as usual. The old boy may even drop into the Peterson oasis during the finals and catch you for a frothy one!

To all those interested in the Burgermeister inspired Father Christmas finals tipping contest here is the draw to tip from maybe some of you sooky la las including the Burgermeister and the well forgotten Sledge could have a go to stop Merl achieving a hatrick of tipping wins this season!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Burgermeister your long absence from the BCF has made you a bit senile like the old boy I don't have great computer skills I need the Grand kids to fix anything technical but I have certainly hooked you with my computer rod and gaff as you just keep taking Merl's bait to be continually be hooked lined and sinkered.Merl's overall and many finals record would make yours pale into insignificance!!!!!!!

it just shows money works with the Billionaires investing 5 teams into the finals a sensational effort.

There is still an APB out on Peter Parker and just hope he hasn't got one of those child like bans that prevent him spinning a web on the BCF.

Also nice to see one of the few brains on Congress and the go to man Rainey spining out his standard home ground first week of finals venues where the higher side gets the benefit of the home turf and not much else unless it rains , and a selection of the best grounds for the remaining finals.

Bring it on just keep punching as Merl ducks and weaves and remember Burgermeister I am out there somewhere

Perhaps the Irish Luck Charms can prove their significance to Merl with a win on the weekend...?
