City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 2010/11

Noticed a great comeback to the CMCA for Daniel Donati...injury plagued for sometime has managed to come back for the Sharks in H grade making almost 200 runs in only his 3 games for this season plus his 40odd today - valued addition for the finals series!
Hopefully 3 was enough to qualify??

I agree, this seems baffling to me as I was made to front congress to explain our actions last year for what appears to be the same set of circumstances?? Yet they have been awarded the points and are through to the big dance??

Bad result for us last week, we had our chances and lukey almost got us over the line but it wasn't to be unfortunately. However this result seemed to pale into insignificance as we mourned the passing of a club legend in Ross Satchwell. RIP big fella

Army, you had to explain your actions because you tried to beat the system. Otherwise you made a honest mistake. Either way rules are rules.

Billy, I agree and I'm not complaining about it. We broke the rules, and for the record it was an honest mistake but I'm just ensure why this situation is any different? And if so why they are not being held to account as we rightfully were???

Army,
A little bit of research will show that Donati was also named in Rd 8 when they had a bye. A shrewd move!

Merlot,
I know that it is your Tipping comp and Uncle is a mate of yours but on my counting UM only picked 5 winners (2 games were drawn) and you got 3! Bring in the auditors?

Evening All,

News from the CMCA water polo competition is that several big games were decided by the rain gods and that was probably par for the course in our rain interupted season.

As advised earlier but I will delight in saying it again the thimbles,BMF, and all talk of water vessels are gone, so aparently is Ano the Alphabet.

However the big news is that uncle Mick has swept around the tight showgrounds circuit to catch Gordan Rothacker napping and with an 8 out of a possible 9 winners has joined the oasis less Bottsy and Merl in the leadership of the FCFTC with only the Big Dance to go.

Merl did notice that No Fox and Vinnie were after Peter Peter time in despatching their tips but just to upset Sledge and the timepiece further no penalty will apply.

The ladder and Merl's unofficial Big Dance fixture is as follows:

2010 11 Father Christmas Finals Tipping Competition
1 Unc Mick 9 8

Well done on a sensational tipping effort Uncle and just shows your skill when not having to tip your mob something Adam didn't have to worry about as his tipping was just pathetic a bit like our Go Dees yesterday.

Good Luck to all the Grand Finalists for the Big Dance and bring on those 2 days in March the Beemer can hardly wait to do the circuit.

By the way burgermeaister any closer to solving the riddle?

Merlot on his third bottle over and out

Merl your Gay and so is the footy team you barrack for.GO PIES.the units will win all 4 grannys this week

Old Bill

Making one of your guest appearances and going against the advice of my good friend Uncle Mick I normally don't respond to idiots but in your case I will make an exception.

When you earn your stripes and contribute to the BCF on a regular basis instead of the many fly by nighters you may have some credibility.

While you will never be as old or wise as Merl and yes it is my tipping contest which you didn't even have the guts or knowledge to compete in and I make the rules sometime as I go along but the participants have all been aware of it.Some like the timepiece and Sledge took their bat and ball and went home as they couldn't handle the heat in the kitchen.

In any contest there is a winner and a loser and if you check the archaic CMCA rules mostly made up by barrack himself you will see that if a match is effected by rain for 30 minutes or more and the match is drawn the higher placed side actually wins the match.

Uncle Mick, the oasisless Bottsy and I will go into the Big dance locked together and unlike yourself we will submit our 9 tips to see who will emulate my good friend Archie and be crowned the 2011 Father Christmas Finals Tipping Competition Trophy winner.

I look forward to your regular contributions instead of the occassional sniping you are more accustom to

Merl over and out

The Hoops moved into the Grand Final thanks to the fickle weather which intervened and robbed the CMCA public what would have been a truly great Grand final between the Juggernaut and Uniting. As it stands now we have a match which will go through the motions and the Executive may as well present the shield to Uniting on Wednesday night. The Hoops season once again unraveled. A player walking out; two bowlers injured and frankly the skipper lost his way in the field in the latter part of day 1. He just did not have the bowlers to do the job except for the first hour when they seemed to have the Juggernaut reeling. One wonders who would have opened the bowling had Pothitos not been cleared to the Hoops at Xmas time. Lalor and Russell will have a field day facing this attack.

The Hoops just do not have the bowlers to worry Uniting, whilst their batting is questionable.Uniting will accomplish a remarkable season and will add the premiership to their already impressive and undefeated season.

You cannot keep a good Spongebob down. When he is not making tons he is chipping in with a lazy 6 for 44 of 22.4 overs. Remarkable effort. Oh how the joints must be aching this morning. At 7/56 and 8/100 the Weststars must have been contemplating their fourth consecutive Grand final appearance. For the second week running the Wash Ups did something that they could not do last season and dug deep. They managed to crawl to 168 and all of a sudden we had game on. The Weststars imploded again and their last chance went when Worker was run out with the score on 8/82. Not sure where the Weststars go after this season. They have an old group of players who make up the core of their team and just not sure they have the stock coming through to take over.

The Sharks meet the New boys on the block in Chelsea Heights. For the second time in two matches the Sharks, thanks to their tail managed to recover and make a score. They will be buoyed with their great comeback win, but they also realize that they dodged a bullet and cannot continue to rely on their lower order to get them out of trouble.Their top order is guilty of getting starts and then failing to go on and make a score. They need to show some patience and make sure one of their top order gets a decent score. Irrespective these matches would have hardened up the Sharks and they will overcome Chelsea Heights. Make sure you get down to Uncle Mick’s place and watch what will be the game of the Grand final series. The Longy final will be a waste of time.

In Quiney Shield the Sharks bounced back and will give the rampaging Uniting a real run this time, however the semi final performance will still be fresh in their minds. Uniting to add a second flag for the day, whilst their E grade and G grade teams endeavour to make it four flags for the day against their arch rival Mackie. I suspect it could be wild night down at Centenary Park on Sunday night with 44 senior premiership medals and God knows how many junior medals on show. It is going to look like a second rate rap party with some much gold on show.

Merlot,
Thank you for explaining your interpretation of a drawn match. That is your prerogative as tip master! However UM still only had 7 winners (missed BDazzler and G grade) in a great tipping effort!

Regarding credibility, anyone such as me using the BCF under a secret alias has little credibility!

I try not to "snipe", merely try to provide some enlightenment when queries or inaccuracies arise from time to time.

Good luck to all teams in the Grannies.

Uniting looks as though they will be far too strong in the Longy granny...too many big names with runs and wickets on the board......Union on the other hand are carrying far too many over-rated players - Stojko and Scorgie both averaging 13runs with the bat have been far from even passable and are fortunate to be holding their spots in the side - hopefully this will give them some incentive to give something back to the club and focus on putting some runs on the board. Rumour also has it the Union skipper will open the bowling this weekend...
Good luck to all.

Evening All,

Old Bill just let me trott out that well worn phrase just because some people know who some of the BCFer's are doesn't mean everyone knows who everyone is.For example does everyone know who Jimmy is or who Sugar is or even who ordinary Bloke is.Personally I do but I don't give a damm whos who in the zoo I just have a bit of fun and try and live by the rules that dictate the forum.
By the way it is not my interpretation to get into the Big Dance you have to have a winner and a loser and let me say it one more time for you, The Pretenders with the Greatest player ever to grace the CMCA playing fields beat the Timepiece thimble water vessels to advance to the Big Dance against the Bills, who will certainly be looking for a return on their Billion Dollar investment and hopefully the good person that he is John Halliday can ensure they do not adopt or carry on with the so called arrogant tag that might be creeping in.Also do we have only 5 more child free ban days before the shackles are thrown off and we can hear from the 2011 Morgan Medalist after his brilliant unbeaten century in the Big Dance?

The woman on the tram's brother's uncle said old Merl was a major part of the conversation down at the oasis on the weekend.
Jimmy even took his eyeball off the camera lens and eyeballed an innocent victim claiming " Your Merlot " Biggie Moss Phelan Fan " followed suit while it is alledged that Adam alias Sugar has a fair idea who Merlot is.I cruised down to the oasis in the Beemer on the weekend where Johnny Farnhnam was serenading the Timepiece Thimble water vessels with his little ditty "raindrops keep falling on my head " as they disappeared out of the finals race just as Big Mossy had disappeared out of the BBQ appointments which leaves the question who will Biggie Moss Phelan follow this week with his over size Teddy Bear out of action. Why does an old man who was right under your noses wandering through the oasis palm trees cause so much discussion.Young Bucks thinks I am gay which in my child hood many years ago meant I was happy and contrary to popular opinion despite the odd whinge I am a happy old bloke and will be even happier if the go dees win a few more games and young Scully signs on the dooted line.Merl's a lot closer than you think and just a little tip look inside the circle rather than outside it and you may get to the equator instead of the south pole.

Hiliary as the timepiece keeps telling us you and your congress are avid readers of the BCF so please correct your finals draw as those sides that finished top of the ladder but were unfortunate to be beaten in the 2nd Semi but have bounced back via the prelim certainly deserve to be named first in the Big Dance under the Mcintyre system. It is technically and morally wrong to name them as you have done as it is their finishing place over the whole season not one finals match which should justify the naming order. If Johnny Farnham is singing again on the weekend the ordinary Joe Public punters should know who is the top side by the way they are named and despite old Bill's protest will be declared the winners even if he thinks the match is drawn and the tote at the old Showgrounds venue will be paying out on Uncle Mick,Oasisless Bottsy or even Merl himself should they pick the higher placed side in any of Old Bill's games!!!!!!!!

Burgermeister where will you be on the weekend now that the two blues last hope have gone down the gurgler maybe we could share a frothy one or are the Rockers having a practice match that could take you away from the flannel fools?

Merl will be back with a pre game half bottle just before a lot of you winter hibernation bears disappear and Uncle and I will carry the forum through the cold dark months for you.

I still have a dozen of my finest Merlot's on the The Bills Ash Russell to take Charlie Home

Merl over and out after a lengthy post

Merl, you must have been in the "accused innocent's" back pocket when we were having our lively discussion as you have the conversation details pretty much flawlessly remembered. Pressure perhaps needs to be brought to bear on Archie who claims to not to be himself but does claim to know Merlot intimately, or is it one and the same. Arch has eyeballed me in the past and told porkies!! Maybe I will become a part of the "Kain Mutiny" and never want to know for fear of ruining it all. Regardless of your pot shots I do enjoy your missives and don't want them to fade into the distance like an old medium pacer.
Agree with your call on the brownlow, Russell to win but possibly the field marshall to join him on the dias with young Manders making up the trifecta.

What a night it will be at the Mentone RSL tonight. I'm also tipping Ash Russell for the Knight's Award, and hoping that ANA's trio of White, Rashmijinan & Lee can make the team of the year.

Merl - if you scroll back a page or 2, you will find that our ever reliable investigative reporter revealed BMF to those who were clever enough to pick up on his clue. You'll find that Biggie is an avid follower of your pieces of prose, but that he hasn't been a contributor via the psuedonym you keep referring him by.

Should be a good night tonight for those fortunate enough to watch A.Russell take Charlie home. I've only had the one experience of this night and I found it to be the best of the CMCA hosted functions I've attended. What chance have we of Sugar & the Judge hosting a live show of proceedings and posting it up as part of their YouTube program? It would give the non-Longmuir clubs an idea of the event and perhaps even provide the extra incentive to be part of the pinnacle of CMCA grade cricket.

Onto the weekend and a quick look at the forecast suggests we might see play on the 26th. Sunday's early forecast is for rain in the afternoon.
Looking fwd to the battle in Woolnough. 2 sides that have had 2 very even contests to date with the results split. Should be an absolute corker!

Finally, now that young Manders' season is over, it probably won't be long before the worst kept secret is revealed. Looking to season 2011/12 and the prospect of him running around in Woolnough Shield is a daunting one....

Just want to add Uniting are a bunch of knobs, any wonder we told them to jam there free beers after the match truly can't wait to maul them in 2 weeks.

As a neutral CMCA person who has no team left to watch in Grand Final weekend my interest has been focused on the Longy game, more because of the battle building off the field, mainly at Union it appears.
Comment above has caught my attention, who ever this guy is, he doesn't appear happy with Uniting? Any details?
And the Golden Greek having a quick pensioners meal for lunch then playing in the big one? What the ? Player walk outs?

It appears from the outside that we have a Champion Team (Uniting) vesus a team of Champions? (Individuals =Union)

Can't wait , will be watching the body language of both teams and interaction , should be a beauty.

I agree with Ash Russell winning tonights big one, hopefully he does the premiership, brownlow, norm smith treble.
And Manders heading down to a beach side suburb where he played juniors?? Cashed up down there??

Correct Unc, although Biggies team mates were referring to him on field as BMF after he was incorrectly called out!!

Uncle / Jimmy

Yes I know it is not Biggie I was just having a bit of fun with him knowing he is an avid reader of the BCF.I don't really care who the bowler who bowls a bit quicker than Biggie is but he has been very silent this week as the timepiece thimbles water vessels have gone west!! By the way Merl would rate Biggie as one of the few nice guys down at Water vessel park you could say a Rose amongst many thorns.I had no idea Merl had such a huge following that the water vessels would actually be discussing some of his best work on field.

Maybe I will become a part of the "Kain Mutiny" and never want to know for fear of ruining it all. Regardless of your pot shots I do enjoy your missives and don't want them to fade into the distance like an old medium pacer.

Is your eyeballing mate Tasmanian as you think he is Archie,Merlot and anyone else you can't work out.He may even be the timepiece. The old boy is getting a dry in the throat telling you I don't really give a damm whos who in the zoo I have a few theories but am happy with having fun and don't really care if I know whos all we are all doing is turning a boring game into a bit of off field banter. Not sure of the pot shots tag as I am a memvber of the mutual admiration Society and have always enjoyed your work in the many facets you do.If Congress made half the contribution you do I would have nothing to write about.

Which is a perfect segway into the technically and morally wrong listing of Grand Final matches because if rain is predicted as you predict and whether Old Bill concurs or not all the top sides will win the Premiership if the match is drawn and points will be allocated in the FCFTC accordingly so the matches should be scheduled in that order and if hiliary is man enough he will get on here and his pathetic website and correct it.

Finally, now that young Manders' season is over, it probably won't be long before the worst kept secret is revealed. Looking to season 2011/12 and the prospect of him running around in Woolnough Shield is a daunting one....[/quote]

I presume this means he is off to the party boys or some other club down that way?Could leave a gaping hole in the ageing water vessels who could start terminally leaking which can only be good for cricket.

Merl's usually impeccable sources have come up with nothing on the alphabet walkout and it is time our sharing caring BCFers come good and give us something to chew on.

While the Moose or Polar Bear or whatever he is known as these days is no stranger to trouble and seems to have the politican on side surely you don't lure a gun bat away from merl's very own Beach Boys and then throw him off the mountain as you are about to reach the summit.

I await more from my fellow BCFers

Merl
