City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 2010/11

By the way

I think the Old Boy nominated Ash Russell back in November before all today's bandwagon jumpers hopped on.

But I would love to see Merl's own Field Marshall take home Charlie which could silence that fly by nighter clown who tried to down grade the great ability of the General

Merl

The worst kept secret / rumor is true, that young manders will be re joining the party boys next year...his choice and for no coin (word is)!!! Other ex juniors that have gone on to better levels are also looking at returning (can only be a good thing).

The only things the Party boys now need are those vuvuzellas and the Samba dancers keeping everyone entertained during the game. Let the Party begin!

I can picture Merlot blowing a vuvuzella, wearing his drag with feathers and make up, with a bottle of Merlot in the other hand as he merrily dances along wearing his Cluden or Hoops or Royals or Omega cap. Probably sums him up.

You're forgetting his Elwood & Chelsea Heights caps!

Anyone got news from last night?

votes went as planned, well done to Marsh, had a great year considering the shortened matches.. won by about 5 votes in the end.. Bit of the Judd theory i reckon, no one to steal votes helped his cause?

got a few weird votes for you tho Uncle..

Voting in a few of our games was weird, to say the least??
Centrals Vs Elwood.. we made 7/130 & bowled them out for 80 & they got the 3,2 & 1 votes. - :eek:Cue the Benny Hill music!!
Vs C/South bowled them out for 40 & passed them 3 down & they got the 2 votes for the game???

Team of the year was fairly spot on, but though Dish (Warry) & Goldy were stiff to miss out..

was again another good 'Charlie' night held/ run by all involved...

& yes Merl i am fairly confident on who you are, but you will never admit it.. But im happy with my findings (as agreed/ confirmed by a few I spoke to last night!!)

Good luck to All playing GFs over the weekend... think i might be down to watch the 'Walnut GF at H/W os sat UM, catch up for a few frothies & a chat..

ALso read an interesting stat the other day on the G'Gee's if you had $1 all up on Black Caviar so far your dollar would be worth nearly $300.... if you add the next 10 it wins to that you might double your $300 as it will never start more the 5's on again

Yep congratulations to Marshall. He's been fantastic for us for a very long time (and he's still a spring chicken). Cheers to the CMCA for putting on a great night. Good to catch up with a few people who I have never met in real life :)

Congratulations also to all the players who made team of the year.

And good luck to Uniting and Union ahead of this week's Longy final -- and indeed good luck to all clubs playing in Grand Finals this weekend.

For us, our Fourths in F Grade play in Elwood's first Grand Final for any grade since 03/04 -- so we are pretty excited down at the beach!

Thanks Burgs, and well done to the BCFs very own "mjbunty".

Seems a bit odd that 3,2,1 went to Elwood in the match they lost, but looking at the match I can see how it would've been difficult to give votes. Howard & De Haan were probably fairly awarded 3 & 2. May claiming the wicket of the top scorer, taking 2/21 and scoring 14 on a day when only 3 players made more than 15.
Goes to show how much the umpires are paying attention when the keeper takes 5 catches in an innings and by my assumption missed out on votes. I would've thought the Carnegie Sth game went:
3. L.Hay
2. A.Warry
1. D.Anderson

Anywho, Marshall is a deserved winner. What about the team? How did that look??

Was a well run night by the CMCA once again... they do organise this night very well, although I'm not convinced on the Mentone RSL. The Bentleigh Club is my preferred choice, but maybe that's my MFC bias showing.

Marshall Bunting was the runaway winner with 17 votes, followed by Ash Russell on 13 votes and Luke Manders with 12 votes. The Uniting boys seemed very upset with Russell not taking home the award, but they've only got themselves to blame for pinching votes off him. I spoke to John Jones, usually one to keep things quite close to his chest, and he confirmed that Manders would not be with them next year. As for Manders, he totally broke the rules of the night by bringing a female partner to the event... not just one, being his girlfriend, but TWO, as he brought his Mum also!

Andrew Green, who if he had a moustache would be Ian Turpie's long lost twin, announced the Twenty 20 player of the series, which went to Merlot's old mate Brett.

The team of the year inlcuded Darian Kuzma, Aaron Gregory (wk), Luke Manders, Glen Lalor (c), Ash Russell, Ano Apostolopoulos, Marshall Bunting (vc), Mohammad Rashmijinan, Simon Surridge, Andy Lee & Robbie De Hann (12th man). I know I've forgotten a name in there, most likely a pace bowler.

As for Ano, the Brighton Union boys were very jovial about his non appearance. Speaking to some of them on the weekend, all I can read is that he refused to speak to players outside the firsts, and his batting in the semi final was not well received, inlcuding mid pitch arguments with his fellow batting partner (Gregory?). I'm sure there's more to it.

Again, well done Marshall... who ditched his girlfriend's family member's funeral to be at the event.

Uncle Mick & Sugar:

Darian Kuzma
Aaron Gregory
Luke Manders
Ano Apostolopoulos
Glenn Lalor (c)
Ash Russell
Marshall Bunting (vc)
Mohamed Rasmijinan
Marc Reid
Simon Surridge
Andrew Lee
Rob De Haan (12h man)

Just when I was about to say there's no way Bunter could leave the son he's always wanted out. Chopper is a walk up start in any side Jimmy O picks!!

Being apart of the aerslcc it's to my knowledge that luke has yet to confirm that he will take on the offered captain/coach role in saying that I think he is a good chance to do the job because of where he will be living is a bit far for him to travel to east sandringham. If he does come down it can only be a good thing for the club and Cmca to have a player like himself playing in the 2nd grade. I for one would be happy to play with him.

I was chatting to West Bentleigh's President last night who is very confident of a revival at Patterson Road. Anthony Reid, Stacy Brown (plus friends), along with the McKinnon names of Tim Dale & Daniel Streker have apparently already received their "consideration" for next season. You can lock it in accoring to him.

217 runs @36.17 (not really suited to shorter version of the game), 23 wickets @15.3, 5th highest tally behind Lee 27, DeHaan 26, Bunting 26 & Russell 24, in a team that had a poor season, picks himself Unc.

I wasn't suggesting he shouldn't be in there, Bunt. He's without question one of the better players going around. I was merely pointing out that you are the #1 ticket holder in the M.Reid Fan Club.

Understood that, he's a great cricketer who never lets himself or his team down so there is a lot of respect there but you still have to earn your spurs always!!

Rumour has it that Jimmy made a few little errors while being the MC.Could it have been the water he was drinking??? It is very unusual for Jimmy, he is usually spot on as the main man. Maybe he succumbed to nerves!!!!

Burgermeister,

Give us your best shot it is not like you are shy or anything put your theorey on the mystery of Merl on the BCF for all to read.
Maybe I go go red in the face in front of you or some other ridiculous notion you come up with. You have had a few dud guesses before why not another one bring it on.

Congratulations to Merl's own Field Marshall on a very deserved win although I did tip Ash Russell back in Nov.A bit like the Bronwlow the BBQ's got it wrong again ( no disrespect Marshall )and without seeing the voting it is unfair to comment but Ash Russell did have an outstanding season and it the main reason the Bills are in the Big Dance.

Clocker,

I see you have relaxed your self imposed ban on anything to do with Merl

I can picture Merlot blowing a vuvuzella, wearing his drag with feathers and make up, with a bottle of Merlot in the other hand as he merrily dances along wearing his Cluden or Hoops or Royals or Omega cap. Probably sums him up.

Let me assure you Merl is a man's man and feathers, make up or drag haver been in the equation.I suppose now that you have no timepiece thimble water vessels to talk about you are a bit short of topics to write about!!!

Also I think you are a little confused about the caps and not being Tasmanian would find it hard to wear they all at once.

Merl has the guts to say what he thinks and support the teams he wants to support rather than your boring diatribe about timepiece thimble water vessels.

Merl over and out for now but I will be back
