City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 2010/11

Really looking forward to the Rd of T20 cricket tomorrow night, might fancy a drive around and see what is cracking. The East group might be the go i think with some great games sure to be on display.

What a good weekend of cricket, Luke Dallas figuring again and McConchie ever so reliable for the Panthers and don't forget one of the CMCA's all time great Simon Surridge with 6-11 to rout ANA.

Some big games ahead this round!

Omega and Elwood will be a nicely fought contest at Rowans rd so don't discount the Ommies
And the top of the table clash between Carnegie and the Billionaires who amazingly sit on the same wins and the exact same %!
Will the Billionaires be happy for a wash out and take on the one day specialist?? if it means another week for Britt then they may well do as it worked wonders with Surridge playing the 2nd week due to rain!

Anyway who are we all predicting to take out the T20 comp this season, i might take a stab at the two Grand finalist and the eventual winner!

Elwood v Uniting final with Uniting to strong with batting depth, 20 overs with potentially 7-8 star bats is enough for me to take the choclates!

Top of the table clash between the rampaging Uniting and the working class Carnegie South. Uniting cruised to an effortless win against the Royals, whilst the working class men at Carnegie dispatched Le Page to cruise to their third win. To use racing parlances, Carnegie have peformed well but up against better class field and may find the going harder. This match will tell a few at the Spiders where they really stand but nonetheless they are quickly becoming everyone's second favourite team as they continue to march on and give the competition a breath of fresh air.

Mackie bounced back against their nemesis of the past few years and face a dispirited Royals down at the Oasis. Bott, Buddha and Craig Park got amongst the runs. I am sure that the veterans will be keen to show the Judge that they are still upto it and have the hunger to go one step further. The Royals were quietly confident that they could cause an upset, but they could not even bat out their overs as a refreshed Surridge just bullied his way through the Royals batting line up.Six ducks tells the sad tale.In fact he bowled 44 deliveries and managed to take 6 wickets ie a wicket every 7 deliveries. The Royals really embarassed themselves on the weekend and it is time for a few of them to have a good hard look at themselves and stop believing their own publicity.Mackie to win easliy and get their season back on track.

The Beach Boys came back to earth with a great thud. Chasing a very modest 113, they collapsed to be all out for 90.They must use this match to bounce back and consolidate their position. Omega is sitting in last position, their season in tatters and all the positive gains of previous years now just a memory. Elwood will further add to their misery by inflicting another loss.

The Hoops got of to a flying start and were in no mood for pleasantries. Ano still finding his feet, Ivan failed to make an impact, but nonetheless still an imposing score of 200 with Kuzma and Gregory leading the assault.Interesting that they have managed to sneak in George Gorozides into their seconds. I wonder if we will see him and the champ participating by the seasons end in their firsts? If so and they find form the Hoops will start to look formidable; on paper anyway. They face a rudderless West Bentleigh that seem to have lost their way. This will be an interesting encounter as both teams are sitting on 1 win 2 losses. A defeat for either team will put a huge dent for their finals aspirations for the season. The Hoops have not been playing too badly and will get over the line in this encounter.

The Juggernaut got back on the winning list with a convincing win against the Cowboys. The Juggernaut's list certainly looks very different to previous seasons and they are going along winning games which is what good teams do, even when they are struggling. They face the Sky Blues who have won their last 2 games, although not very convingcingly. I am not convinced that the Sky Blues have the batting line up to worry the top sides and for this reason the Juggernaut to continue on their winning ways.

The Panthers will be very disappointed that they let a golden chance to grap to spot against the Spiders. McConchie with 141 runs @ 47 runs must be the favourite for the player of the year. They face the hapless Golfers who are still finding their feet and yet to win a game. The Panthers will not want to drop this one as it could be crucial for them especially around finals time. The Panthers to redeem themselves against the Golfers.
Selections:
Bentleigh Uniting
Mackie
Elwood
Hoops
Juggernaut

Woolnough
Omega to defeat a lack lustre Party boys who have yet to break the 100 mark with the bat.
Moorabbin West just roll along and will account for the Royals quite easily.
Wash Ups to exact a small token of revenge against the Juggernaut for last seasons ignominious defeat which ensured their relegation to Woolnough.
Bentleigh Uniting to account for Micks Kookas who are struggling and facing relegation unless they get their act together.
Cluden to defeat a very poor and disappointing Hoops outfit.
Chelsea Heights will just continue on with their impressive form. They are just waiting for a team that will actually give them a match. How hard is this Woonough gig?

Can't help you with the sacrifice Clocker, but if you're looking to break into somewhere I've got a spare wooden horse that I keep in the shed.

Sponge

Thanks for the fixture but couldn't Hiliary have put it on the useless website before she got on the big bird back to the states?Where you get it from any way as it looks like if you haven't got any direct link to a club you get nothing.

I see Hiliary has responded to the no scores in the paper fiasco by requesting texters to get in on time.Hiliary when you atart taking away points or substantial fines then slack clubs will get off their collectibve behinds!!!

Adam

Any response to your tipping duplication yet?

Uncle Mick

I have decided to confer joint winners to both you and I in the Big Mac Photo ID footy tipping contest and see if mustard pot could make himself available to present the award to you! I will be in touch once I have my hands on the trophy. If mustard pot is unavailable I could approach the child to do the presentations as he was so passionate about the footy but being a saints supporter I think he is still in shock.

until next time... keep searching.... vino sipping poster..... Prof Merlot

Would of thought this was pretty easy to put on the CMCA Website!

Interestingly the CMCA T20 Sub-Committee have changed the wide ruling for tonight's Round 1 T20 games!

After some discussions today (last week) with Benny Goodman (CMCA Umpires Advisor) and Exec members; and after taking into account the feedback from some clubs, we have decided to simplify the wide rule for the T/20 comp.

Instead of trying to use the 900mm line, which can still allow for balls to be bowled down the leg side without penalty (also being extremely hard to hit); we have decided to make things more simple. Basically, ANY ball going past the batsmen on the leg side will be called a wide. This then follows with other Twenty/20 comps played in Melb and elsewhere. Also makes things simple for the umps.
The players and supporters want to see lots of action in the Twenty/20games, not lots of wides.
Therefore, we feel this change is worthy and makes common sense.
As always, any feedback most welcome.
Cheers....Andrew
for the T/20 SubCommittee.

Evening All,

As a follower of all forms of cricket I am absolutly astounded by the following comment from Congress and the overpaid trumpet player!

The players and supporters want to see lots of action in the Twenty/20games, not lots of wides.

The whole idea of a leg side line is to cut out wides not be plauged by them.Even at International level leg side balls brushing the backside are a joke and I believe even our Premier Competition has introduced some leniency with leg side balls close to the stumps.

No doubt as I type there are plenty of wides being bowled!!!!

Reading between the lines Merl, he actually means we don't want to see wide balls being bowled down the leg side under the 900mm rule! We will see what happens over the next 3 Wednesday's and whether the players think it is fair or not?
Having played a trial game last week, all the batsmen found it hard to hit balls down the leg side with the 900mm rule!

Bryce Jansz - Future talent of CMCA - GOOD CALL
"I see Hiliary has responded to the no scores in the paper fiasco by requesting texters to get in on time.Hiliary when you atart taking away points or substantial fines then slack clubs will get off their collectibve behinds!!!"
- Merl, this is actually for Jimmy's benefit as in past used to have scores/highlights supplied by 9pm Saturday but was relying on MYCRICKET site from 9am Sunday for things this year and was finding it very difficult to write article, transpose/collate scores and provide to Leader by 1pm Sunday deadline when on air at 88.3 from 9.00am - 12.00pm Sundays. Had a 50% success rate on Saturday with texting/phone calls. I expect you will not see scores in big papers until Mondays. Condaleesa used to do a lot of unsighted work!!

I saw some very good batting last night in the 20/20 from Timmy Malane, i think he finished with 54*. Ash Russell got 3 wickets. Omega made 150+ but Bentleigh Utg won, Lalor got 50. If anyone knows scores of other games put them on here. Also, Carnegie Sth flogged West Bentleigh.

Talking T20. Sharks vs Elwood last night... at the Beach, on a damp ground!
Elwood all out 81 - Harris X2 and keeper Sammy the main scorers. Oaten and Fisher 3 each (I think), the rest shared around.
Sharks passed them 4 down - so comfortable win in the end.

As for the T20 last night. We bowled Chelsea Heights out for 68, and made 50 odd chasing. Very disappointing.

I saw last night that the spiders had music pumping between overs and at the fall of each wicket. Was that consistant across the matches? Though the sound of Sherbet's Howzat rankled the ears after the first four dismissals! Their training shirts looked the part on the field too. All in all, a good start to the new competition I think.

Golf,
Heard on the vine that your club does not have a bowling machine, surely this is not correct.
I would think that most pro active clubs who are intent on trying to improve and develop their playing stock would have a machine as a priority.
Your batting woes seem to be the same as last year, if not worse, can you confirm if indeed you have a bowling machine?
