Come on fellas. This year's award is farcical. I completely concur that it is worth aspiring to, but what did Bentleigh Uniting achieve this year in order to win the award? There was not 1 premiership from any side that competed in 2011/12. Washington Park won 2 of the top 3 grades. Surely they are a far more deserving winner? Even East Sandy has greater claims to the award reaching the CMCA pinnacle as well as 2 junior premierships. This is a load of bullshit and only inflames the issue that others have raised with Uniting persons dominating the Executive Committee. Furthermore, if the Association wants to be taken seriously, then Uniting need to be taken to task on the matter of paying more than the 2 players that are permitted - provided all 3 end up playing next season.

Whilst I don't agree entirely with Clocker's argument re: "mercenaries", there's merit in what he says. I had a thoroughly enjoyable year playing with lifelong mates at ESBC and achieving something quite special, but the fulfillment isn't there in the same way I imagine winning a Premiership at HWCC would be. I don't think I'll ever be satisfied unless HWCC can somehow jag a 1st XI (perhaps merely a pipe dream). Much the same as I'm sure a Premiership at Sth Caulfield would hold more weight with Ash than being paid the big bucks to bring one back to Centenary Park.
Clocker is spot on when he mentions the Backmans, Zaias, Brisbane et al players cos they truly will appreciate what they've won having invested so much of themselves into the place.
Personally, I have no issue with what Uniting are doing - provided it's within the rules. As long as they don't lose sight of what has made the club what it is today, then good luck to them.

Well sad Mick! A very rational and refreshing view. I too have won flags at other Clubs, but to be able to do it at Westars (where it all started for me in seniors) would be a dream - maybe still is, but.......

With all the talk going on try this one on for size Glen Lalor has been offerd a huge contract to move to Mckinnon dont know if his going it will test hi sloyality the sort of money being offerd plus for him to bring some players with him, not saying his leaving but its on the table for him to choose may be the reason uniting are chasing manders so hard.

Also to anyone accusing Bucc of cheating (what ever you call it) for paying 3 players you néed to be really careful especially when your name is attached n to those hiding cowboys make sure 100% you'r identity is safe before you throw accusations, I know for a fact your all wrong, it's not my place to go into detail or explain but you'r on the way to digging yourself a deep whole you won't be able to climb out of, what some of you are implying is wrong!

Well Brett until someone from the Executive or from Uniting comes out and clarifies the situation then the speculation will continue. The Executive has a few Uniting people and I understand why because there is no one else that will put up their hand to do the work.The same people being relied upon year in and year out.If one or two of the players are not being paid and have decided to play for nothing then come out and say so. Personally I couldn't care if the rules were changed stating every player could be paid, then at least everyone would know where they stand. At the moment it is a joke not for Uniting but for every club. As I have said before force the President/Secretary and Treasurer of each club to sign statutory declarations; employ an independent firm to do a spot audit on a few clubs each year and the problem is solved.

All I was saying is that the gossip n rumors on here are off the mark it's a joke, what people are implying is that there cheating n breaking the rules which is a serious allegation, not only are such comments unfounded n false they can b damaging, so just warning those with a strong enough character to use the name n not hide there identity need to be very careful n those hiding pray there secret remains a secret.

A simple short response to the following question would be appreciated by all: given all 3 of Lalor, Russell and Manders appear set to represent BUCC next season, which of the 3 will not be remunerated for their services so as to comply with competition regulations?

Until that simple question can be appropriately answered, rumors such as 3rd party companies making payments will continue to flourish. Can we get an answer?

For what its worth, I believe Russell is leaving to either (a) coach Sth Caulfield or (b) work in Perth. Nothing but speculation, but if it holds up, that alleviates the dilemma.

No one from Bucc post on here, so why should they come on here n post answers to questions raised by gutless cowboys hiding under a alias?
If the right people ask (cmca exec's) in the right way then I am sure they will answer there every question, this forum is a social network n not a governing body, so stop thinking your important enough to warrant a answer to speculation n gossip, let the league n Cmca sort it out, so you can all focus on getting your own backyard in order n ready for the season, having been in the inner sanctum before, the pettiness on here n accusations will only serve one purpose, galvanize n strengthen the resolve at the Den making a even more formidable opponent n goal driven club, the crap thrown around here from people trying to portray there important n deserve to be in the know will only wake a sleeping Lion!!

I would suspect that the newest recruit is not getting paid to play cricket. However, as Mick said a few pages back it's a career decision. That would indicate that he may be getting paid to work for someone(or 2) within the club. A four year deal sounds like a four year apprenticeship to me.... Pay a little bit above the award rate and there you have it!
