DVCA Barclay Shield 2010/11

What has interested me for about 6 years now, is that every single year we (Eltham) are favourites to get relegated. Every year we are written off, given no chance, and no player is rated at our club other than Skips. I agree yes, that Skips is the best bat in the comp, with little competition really, and he has saved our bacon many a times, and won many games off his own bat.

But come on boys, we have not been relegated yet. And everyone has said it will happen every year. Someone put there balls on the line and back us. Cricket is a game of confidence as we all know, and going into the break with a HUGE win, will give the boys confidence that they now know that they can actually win games. Over the last few years we have beaten Plenty, Diamo, Bundoora to save our arses. I am backing ECC to snag another victory (or two) before seasons end.

The other point i want to make, is the lack of respect to other blokes at Panther place. Davo, Willo and to an extent Cam lea are all more than shabby players. We all know Davo, and that he probably has more ticker than anyone else, and has been super consistent over the last two years. Just needs to go on with one big score to get him going. Willo is proven, and has the brains and ability to win games. Just a shame he's at the twilight of his career. And Cam lea, very serviceable with bat and ball. Just needs to do both in the same game.

Massive news from Panther Place. A huge pick up from country Vic that from what I hear can play and play well.

With the imminent return of Tongs from a sore pinky.....:D there is a feeling of confidence that a few wins could keep them up again...

Correct, ECC have managed to sign up a player from the bush. Had a look at him last night for the first time. Truth be told, I don't know much about him, other than he was captain coach of his last club, So must not only be a handy player, but good head on his shoulders.

As for me back playing, I am CC, the broken thumb seems to be ok. Thanks for the get well card you sent me, but please don't include a naked picture of yourself again, i thought it was bestiality porn!

What about you?? Are you back from getting liposuction fat boy?

I'll back you blokes - Epping to be relegated. Couldn't happen to a better bunch either.

I have heard he is actually very good.:)

May have a crack at bowling in the nets on Tue, picked up many cricket lessons down the beach at the moment from some of my house mates down here, I am sure to make a 100 and take a 6 fa after now knowing how to play....:D

After the past two weeks listening to drivel from about 4 of your A/B Graders I am backing you for finals. :p

Nah, but I actually do think you will win a few more and make the run to Money Shield interesting.

Possible massive injury news to come out of ECC. Rumour I hear is a terrible groin injury to one of their players that whilst amusing could keep him in the TAB this Saturday........Tongs can you dispel?

I don't know if you would call it an injury or not. But yes I had surgery on my groin. I couldn't get a box to fit, so i had about 4-5 inches lopped off. So I am now down to an even 15 inches. and can use a 5 litre esky as a box. So should be right to go.

Not sure about any injuries at ECC? Could you fill me in?

Big Serg is making his one and only comeback this week due to struggling numbers and a few injuries to key players. Playing against Riverside E grade. Hopefully the strangler will get dropped for the big one down at Greensborough Park so I can give him a few batting tips. :p

Why the hell would you think anyone cared where you're playing, the reason you're playing and who you're playing against?

I don't understand what you mean by we won't cross paths? Are you going to be on holidays when we play bundoora?

Sorry, couldn't resist

Wish i could predict the quaddie numbers as well as this......

Before anyone get's upset, yes i realise we have been disagraceful this season and yes i realise i probably should be in "B" grade with him this week

On a serious note, wonder if the grounds committee make an early decison on calling this week off if the predicted rain falls today.Yulong is in really good condition at the moment and is handling the water very well. Won't be a problem playing there tomorrow.
Interested to know how some of the other grounds are??

Our ground was nearly underwater last night, with todays rain I cannot see us playing

I reckon the DVCA will hold of calling it as long as they can, I will suggest 11am tomorrow. I do hope we get on as the season has been ridiculous but even now looking our the window its pissing down for any chance it needs to stop by midday.

Dunno if anyone will get upset, if they do they need to get a grip. That was great wizzing, was not mean or discriminatory just good old fashion sledging which he gave back.

...and if you find a way to pick the quaddie can you look after all the BC community and post on here, I will give you my guess for tommorrow:

So are you the bloke that made a duck and went for 10 an over on the weekend champion?

To be played on Australia Day...

How come there has been no announcements on the DVCA website or anything like that?

These days used to be big.... no wonder they've gone to the sh1t. Nobody would know when it is on, and where it's being played.

Can you give us that information at all?
