i'd much rather be playing Eltham in a two day game, but having said that i think our bowling is good enough to keep consistent pressure for the whole 40overs, which i hope will work to our advantage, i think whoever wins the toss will bat because runs on the board will be very important.

Cant agree on Lower Plenty, After seeing Epping first hand last week i was very impressed, there bowling and groundfielding were excellent and Fletch is in good form, Topham is due & they have the hitters capable of making a big score. i was also suprised to here they have not been beaten at home for 2 years, so i can't see it happening this game.

i see butters got dropped back to play in the 2's after Saturday was called off, was it to make way for D.Quinlan??

I am pleased to announce that Noodles was dropped for the game (a spinner batting at 11 is not overly required in a oneday game, and he actually put his hand up) as for his replacement, although I am in "blistering" form, no I will not be returning this week. Rumour has it, you have too many quick blokes for me! haha

I wish you bloke the best of luck, and whilst I am happy to see you guys get up each week, I hope you lose this week. Purely for the sake of ECC, and thats it. I must admit I am very happy its a oneday game! Hopefully skips can bat 40 overs!

By the way, are you actually playing at the moment? I heard you weren't playing at the moment? Is it true, and if so why?

Wasn't far off dropping myself this game, but unless someone in the selection room has a big mouth, not sure how you'd know that:confused:

i am playing and have been all year, just done jack all since round 4, hence the fact i "brought" two cheap wickets at the death last game to justify my place!!!

Should be a good game, i'm sure Eltham will rate there chances and both clubs still have plenty too play for so i'm sure it will be a great contest.

Yep, at the DVCA Senior Presentation Night. Same as the past couple of years.
Ooo low blow sonny jim.

Well i'll have you know that I have a little wager with D.Potter.
If NEW can get into Barclay Shield before Dylan himself can play Barclay Shield then he has to take up lawn bowls.

We're sitting 2nd mate, so you never know what can happen!!!

With no disrespect that is. Eltham know they are starting way behind the eight ball, but knew we might have more of a chance against you in a one day team.

A wicket is a wicket, cheap wickets? No such thing. I am still living off my ONE a grade wicket! That poor bloke!

I think you boys selected the wrong forum, there is a another thread called MONEY SHIELD where you can post crap like this on.

Or maybe the under 16 thread would be better?

Re: DVCA: Barclay Shield

One Day hit and giggle this week boys. Nothing better at this time of year to shape up the final four. Here are my tips for this weekend (feel free to leave your own):

Bundoora vs Eltham:
Bundoora.
Why? Bowling and batting too good for the Panthers overall and this will be enough to get them home easy as Eltham's lack of depth will be exposed once again. Panther's were a bit stiff last week and may look to put in a good one before the battle for Money Shield next week. Bulls need minor miracle to make the four and need to win to do their bit.
Watch Out For: A Minney hundred and a good all round performance by Bundoora.

Research vs Diamond Creek:
Research.
Why? Creek are in a bad place at the moment after a loss to Macleod that they would have put down as a definite win at the start of the year. Research have made over 300 two weeks in a row but have also had 300 made against them in a row. Can't see Creek getting a massive score that they will need and I also can't see them bowling out an in form Search batting unit for less than what they make at the moment. Might be close but I'm tipping search in a high scoring affair. Is Turner back?
Watch Out For: A Shannon Malone attempt at fastest hundred ever and the bloke whose house backs onto the ground to end up with a smashed window or two.

Epping vs Lower Plenty:
Epping.
Why? Lower can't bowl a side out in 80 overs, how are they going to do it in 40? But, with their batting line-up, a one dayer will definitely suit them. If it was at Lower I would seriously consider giving them a chance but up at Epping, with a semi-final scar hanging over their heads on the ground from last season, I just can't see them winning it. Hursts x2 and Angelucci will get the job done with the ball early and that will be it.
Watch Out For: Zerafa hitting one onto the back ground off Claudio but the spinner ending up with a few and the points.

Mernda vs Macleod:
Mernda.
Why? Macleod bats will be no match for Bakes and Chesto up at Schotters Rd. Nothing else, it's purely that simple.
Watch Out For? See above.

Lower Eltham vs Plenty:
Plenty.
Would love to be there to watch this one at Eltham as the once mighty Plenty start to hit some form and take on the best side in it according to the ladder, which is probably right. Plenty have it all riding on the next two games so if they can't get up for this one they may as well forget about everything. Two very good batting sides but I think the key here lies with early wickets for the bowling side. Salvatore back will be a plus for Lower but Hubber and the starting to bowl heat Rosbrook may tip the match in Plenty's favor. Plenty in a real close one depsite Lower' brilliant batting line-up headed by Whitcher.
Watch Out For: A high scoring game if there are no early wickets.

Stars vs Riverside:
Riverside.
Why? The in-form side of the comp. There is no better form than current winning form and they have got it. They key to a Stars chance is Keays, if he doesn't get wickets I cant see Stars being able to keep Riversde's total down. On the other hand, Volpe is probably the best one-day bat in the comp and if he gets going it could be good night Irene and good night Clappers. I reckon Stars are a massive show but I'm going to tip the Clappers purely on recent form.
Watch Out For: A Volpe master class batting first only to be upstaged by this years medal winner Gibbsy.

Good Luck to all.

Re: DVCA: Barclay Shield

Cricketbox - Best post I have seen for a while, well done. I would love to see something like that everyweek mate (although I reckon watch for Arnberger (yes I have said this before) to make a 80 and Gunny to make a 60 fo 30 and I reckon the smokey are Macleod in a OD game, my tip is them over Mernda. But again GREAT post mate)

Tongs - I agree, boys if you want to slag off like boys get to the junior threads, if you are talking BS stuff than talk it, all junior talk on the junior thread, seriously! DO NOT reply on this thread to me, please pm me and I will make time to catch up or I will pm you back.

Good luck to all

just saw this on the dv website

Nillumbik Council has just closed 14 grounds:
Arthurs Creek Reserve, Campbell Street Reserve Diamond Creek East Primary, Diamond Hills Reserve
Eltham High School, Lower Eltham Park #2 (front)
North Eltham Main Oval, North Eltham Adventure Playground
Kangaroo Ground Oval, Marngrook Reserve
Hurstbridge High #2, Plenty Park
Wattle Glen War Memorial Park, St. Andrews Recreation Reserve

wtf??

Diamond Hills Reserve?? - CLOSED ONE DAY, BEAUTIFUL THE NEXT - IT AINT.

What in the hell's gone on here. If the Council's closed the likes of Plenty and Lower Eltham (front) for safety reasons I can't understand how in the hell they've re-opened this. If it's because they want to save their "elite" grounds they missed the boat as they're no worse than they've been since the big fat fella came.

TOTALLY

They key to a Stars chance is Keays, if he doesn't get wickets I cant see Stars being able to keep Riversde's total down. On the other hand, Volpe is probably the best one-day bat in the comp and if he gets going it could be good night Irene and good night Clappers. I reckon Stars are a massive show but I'm going to tip the Clappers purely on recent form.
Watch Out For: A Volpe master class batting first only to be upstaged by this years medal winner Gibbsy.

Good Luck to all.

Great thread, but geez pal, must be a slow day at work.

Maybe next time you want to post on this thread, you go ask mummy and daddy if they think its a good idea first. Back to Money Shield champ!
It's really pleasing to see someone of your intelligence only bringing up a poor joke about my age, when you didn't have anything to say to comeback to my previous comment.

My comments before did refer to Barclay Shield, so I'm not sure what your winging about.
