Dvca - Money Shield - Season 2011/12

How about a final 6? Can be played over 3 weeks. Subbies do it every year.

No offense, but work out the logistics before throwing up suggestions. How on earth would a final 6 work with 1) 14 teams playing through out the year? 2) how does the finals set up work? 3) fit in with the amount of weeks that way have.

five80 1 x T20 game for points. - This is one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. Whilst I am not disagreeing with trying to be inventive, and introducing what looks like the future of cricket (to an extent). You can't purely play 1 of them.

Declaration Bowler: I think the 7 and 6 works just as well as my first comment, therefore not playing the disgusting Saturday Sunday games that no one likes.

Just throwing ideas out there. In Premier cricket, they have also experimented with playing some T20's on Saturdays. Wasn't overly popular.

In New Zealand they r00t sheep. Should we do that? As I said, its good to come up with suggestions on ways that we can improve the comp, but suggestions are as useless as sweat holes in a condom if you haven't done your homework on IF it is logistacally possible.

Subbies do this:

Week 1(Sat/Sun): 1v6, 2v5, 3v4. The 2 lowest ranked losers drop out. (Usually 5th and 6th) - It gives the highest ranked loser a double chance too.
Week 2(Sat/Sun): 1v4, 2v3. Normal semis
Week 3(Sat/Sun): Granny

It would keep more teams in the hunt for finals as the season progresses in my opinion.

I don't root sheep, and you need to relax.

If you're really set on this, all you've got to do is get 2 clubs to propose it as a Rule Change, then persuade 18 Clubs to vote for it.
Good luck.

If it were to be a 14 team comp, 7 and 6 were what the executive proposed to the clubs. They made it clear they have no intention on playing saturday and sunday - ( each grade will still be fixtured a sunday, in lieu of the Saturday )

Did they say whether MS will go back to 12 teams the following season?

Different system this year re rule changes, rule change proposals to go to a new Rule Change committee who will decide whether clubs get a chance to vote on. Weeds out the meaningless changes.
I like the idea of a top 6, if you have 14 teams, finishing 5th with maybe 9 wins is going to be very unlucky (unless it is Eltham again, and we will all just laugh)
My understanding is that if there are not at least 2 more applications for the 13/14 season, then the 14 team comp will stay in place for a second year, with all clubs on notice that 12, 13, 14 will all go down to B grade the following season.

My personal opinion is that Bundoora should be made to go up into MS. They know the rules, and relegated teams don't get the option to not be relegated on the same grounds. The way I see it is, if Bundoora request/refuse (whatever you want to call it) to be promoted up, then as a club, they should not be allowed to have any grade promoted for the next 5 years. This is not a direct reflextion on my thoughts on Bundoora, I have said a number of times I have a lot of respect for their members and their committee, this is my thoughts on any club in the DVCA.

That's fair enough, not sure about the 5 year part but we're all entitled to an opinion.

My opinion is that all clubs should have their first 11 playing in "A" GRADE. As it stands Hurstbridge are the only club that are not currently doing so. (yarrambat declined last season and Mill Park's sanction is widely known).

Hopefully we can attract a few more clubs, 30 "A" grade teams would be ideal. That would mean a re-structure of the current set-up but if we want to grow as a comp, i think that's a good thing. 3 x 10 teams - play 9 x 2 day matches. Would give clubs a chance to open their season later ( a lot of clubs don't get access to their rooms before October 1 ) and an extra break at xmas.
This season for istance, a possible return of January 5 is ludicrous.

Thanks for all the info.
I must say, it's beyond me why the DVCA Meeting Minutes aren't posted on the website.

Current committee is working on, been an issue since the Webmaster left the building.

I don't think that they should be on the website, but at least to be emailed to Presidents / Secretaries to have a record.

They were put on the website after the previous meeting where Rosanna were accepted into the comp

What about 7x2 and 7x1. Everyone plays 1 team twice in a one day fixtured game. At least then you have got everyone playing an even amount of games for both formats. You can even have a top 7 working.
Top team gets a week off.
Week 1. 2 v 7 3 v 6 4 v 5
Week 2 winner of 2 v 7 and 3 v 6 play off and the 4 v 5 plays against the minor premiers
Week 3 Grand final

Theres not enough cricket weekends for that to work.
