Eca 2011/2012

Apparently earlier in the year there was rumour going round that Paul Collingwood was to play some games for bulleen but i recently heard that he's going to play a few for deepdene....anyone know much about this??
I am going to go out on a limb and say that these rumours hold about as much weight as Lara Flynn Boyle.
I also see that Heath Streak is dominating down at Ashburton, must be playing under an alias though...

I'd say those Willows identities (100?) who bought memberships to watch Streak play on the syntho would be feeling short changed. I wasn't exited by the idea of Streak playing on synthetic and I'm even less exited with him not appearing at all. Some people should change their handle to pinocchio.

Why would he play for Deepdene? He's still mates with Greg Knight apparently, so that would make sense, but don't know where any Deepdene connection would come from?

I still reckon Marcellin and RC are the ones to be relegated.

Not sure of any reason he would go to Deepdene, spoke to a few of them after the game a couple of weeks back and they were thinking there's a possibility he may play against them next round......so no chance of playing for Deepdene i'd say!

Makes sense. It would be great if he played. Anyone who's made a test double ton is welcome in Dunstan any time!

Over a beer over new year I was talking to a well placed Premier Cricket identity and he expressed concern for the future of Camberwell Magpies. Issues with grounds, possible 2 new teams coming into Premier Cricket.
Rationalization of the comp. Reduced financial allocation to Premier and Sub District clubs will occur.
Interesting to see who might join Sub district if 2 teams join Premier.
He suggested that 1 may come from ECA and one from elsewhere.
He did not know who it might be but apparently a couple of ECA clubs have applied in the past.
The Camberwell suggestion is easy to believe...

Melton would be the obvious candidate, and possibly one from the north, maybe Crazyburn as the clubs/regions joining Premier!

As for the ECA club possibly heading up, he probably should have stopped drinking!

No way. Knighty was Paul Collingwood's best man. Knighty would burn his best dress if that happens. How many professional player are the Bears going to play?

The ECA club has to have 2 turf grounds with the main one fenced if you play in Sub district and it would need to be in an area they were not represented towards the north east. The only club I could think of would be Donvale.

Donvale are struggling on and off the field... had 8 junior teams last year and now have 2! If any club was to move into sub district, I would suggest Glen Iris. Loads of senior and junior teams. Yes they only have 1 turf ground, but I am sure they could turn TH King to a second turf ground.

I have watched a few 20/20s at Oakleigh this season and I think the ECA team would struggle.
It may depend on which form of the game was used. I understand that subbies play 45 overs in their one day games.
I think the professional player for a few clubs would be a handful for us. The subbie wickets and grounds are better like Oakleigh they also usually are footy grounds which would be good. A mate plays at Box hill and the openers both made tons on the weekend in a one dayer. They like 45 overs instead of 40 like us

I'm sure you're right - how are the ex Mully guys going up there Fred? I think that they would probably touch up the ECA guys because a lot of the 'stars' of subbies seem to be good District 1's players and at ECA it seems to be District 2's players - is that fair?

At Oakleigh they have Ensell, Travaglia and Street playing there.
Players like Robbie Bartlett who I think is Captain of Caulfield and a previous Ryder medalist would be very handy all rounder in a Dunstan club. Eca seems to attract players who never really trouble the first 1X selection committee at Premier Clubs and often they were not regular 2's players or were playing in poorer teams
