Hi all- everyone playing cricket in ECA should if they vote in Boroondara make sure you know which councillor supports cricket. There is move afoot to restrict all our grounds. Make sure you find out where your local candidate stands when it comes to park access. There is a group around Hays Paddock area trying to get rid of cricket in the park and they succeeded at council. This could be the tip of the iceberg- vote for those councillors who support cricket. In my ward Gardiner- Coral Ross has a track record of supporting cricket. This is a serious issue and must be addressed. The ECA is dead set terrified of what these residents might do.

Yep! And if you include SH, Marcellin and ED to that list, ECA Turf looks to be battling a little bit with the lack of depth...
Wow A Turf. Things are boring. Weather looks dicey this weekend which will make for interesting cricket.
Oh The Snobbery!

Fellas I've played in both A and Dunstan and I've played in other comps to boot and while I am sure all teams in A Turf strive to play in Dunstan it's not the end of the world to play in A Turf. It should not be looked upon as a cast off comp not worthy of discussion. They are good players in A turf who would do just fine in Dunstan. Playing Dunstan Shield is great so celebrate it but don't look at A turf with disdain.

Agree with you chunky. Most of the current dunstan sides were in A grade at some stage and many of them not good enough to make finals in A. Many of the current A grade sides have played dunstan finals. It comes and goes. Many very good A grade crickets playing.

Here here.

I personally just think it gets lost as it is not "the top grade". Granted that there are some very good players in A Turf, just look at Bulleens team.

They should not be dismissed, but in saying that, I would like to think that 80% of frequent posters in here are associated with a Dunstan club, therefore enjoy talking about their club.

This forum is in no way busy enough to dedicate a thread for each grade, so just deal with others wanting to talk about other grades, more often than not, it will come back to Dunstan, but I think the more posters on here the better.

It is certainly starting to get cleaned up from the dribble that was written over the last few years

Grounds might be a bit slow so runs on the board would be handy but my guess is plenty of play. Sunday looks good for the make up round.
Will likely ruin the balls though, my tips in bold halfway through the game of who the wet conditions will help:

GI vs DB - small ground, should get the job done
Boronia vs ED - big wet ground, will defend 145
MA vs Mulgrave - Wrighty out, 100 more looks difficult on a big wet ground
Hawthorn vs SH - won't change the result, hawks might try for 10
NB vs Marcellin - won't make a difference, NB easily
AW vs SKOB - only need another 130 odd on most likely a road at AW (does anyone know who is out overnight for SKOB?)

Fellas, fellas!

I never said A Turf should be dismissed, all I am saying is that the current teams playing there are some of the weaker ones to represent A Turf.

How did all you dunstan players put up with rc for so
Long they love a chat a little to much and they have a
Big guy back think his name was Clarence they did beat us
Outright today but wankers

The silence is deafening. My take is that Haw are going beautifully with Ashy and MA. All three have had softish draws, but Ashy looked to have disposed of Skevs pretty easily, so a big tick there. Cox performing well as always; classy performer. Haw are a very even team and with Tongue not dominating the way he usually does and everyone else pulling their weight, they look set for a good season. MA look to be back to their best. From the results, Vance is making a lot of runs and taking wickets so all looks good there. GI look to be performing about par, primed to make the top 4 again. Fair to say Deepdene have been the disappointment so far. 0-3 and languishing at the bottom of the table. Been beaten easily so far and Parsons not performing to his usual standard. Could be a relegation battle between SH, ED and Marc this year, but SH's performance to beat a mid table (last year) Boronia, might seem them just stay out which would be good for the comp. If NB can keep their core of classy introductions in the side for the year, they might be close to the mark, but whispers are that at least one of their players has quit his job to go travelling. That will hurt them.
