Eca 2012/13

Don't think so, checked mycricket and he played the SF. If he was suspended then why are we hearing it for the first time?
Apparently club suspension and not happy with the decision either! Would anyone take him? We haven't played against him for a while, and don't really know him that well either...

Still haven't heard what happens with ROund 1?
Anyway, tips for round 2. (BTW - I'm happy to tally up the tips each game if no one else puts their hand up!)

Surrey Hills vs Mont Albert - (Surrey will be competitive but prefer to see first - Mont Albert for me)
Marcellin vs Ashburton Willows - (Ashy are slow starters but should get home)
St Kevins vs Glen Iris - (Close game - St Kevs just)
Deepdene vs North Balwyn - (Deepdene easily)
East Doncaster vs Hawthorn - (Hawthorn in another close one)
Mulgrave vs Boronia - (Boronia easily)

The decision of the Executive to award 3 points to each team and say that rd 1 is completed was one of the worst in recent memory. 22 out of 480 overs was played on Saturday, or 4.6% of game time was completed. To say that this % consitutes a day's play is ridiculous. Teams like Deep, Ashy and GI will be gutted, as they would have considered themselves a huge chance of getting the 6 points. This decision makes their season significantly harder. The teams they were playing must be counting their lucky stars they they have got 3 points that they shouldn't.

Well done Maestro for putting your hand up to do the tipping. I dips me lid to ya.

Agree - I cannot fathom why there is a reserve day scheduled, yet it is not put in use in this instance.

Lets hope the ECA's PR company puts a good spin on things, something similar to Heath Scotland's excuse "I want to be a fireman" would fly.

My tips tips for this week

Surrey Hills vs Mont Albert - (After turning up at the mud pit that is Surrey Park, there will be no play - players cracking cans by midday)
Marcellin vs Ashburton Willows - (Possibly the most likely to get on this week due to private school wickets - may get a start but my prediction is beers by 1:30 and the lack of change rooms will kill get the Ashy boys angry standing out in the rain)
St Kevins vs Glen Iris - (Don't even bother turning up to Yarra Bend)
Deepdene vs North Balwyn - (As above)
East Doncaster vs Hawthorn - (As above)
Mulgrave vs Boronia - (Pitch will be fine and rock hard, but there is a chance the grass has not been cut since March 1999 - Mully boys will have their poker set ready for a $10 buy in starting at 11:30)

I don't know why the executives would call last week a round. Not 1 game was completed and as paintball said barely any game time was played. Reserve days are there for weeks like last and if they won't even consider having round 1 and use it as a reserve day the ''executives'' need to have a good look in the mirror. In saying that we should all play syntho, at least we will get a game.

Word coming through is that it went to a vote within the executive, and those with affiliations with teams that played games they might have struggled in voted for the round not to be replayed. If this is the case it is an absolute disgrace. The ECA needs to communicate why they make the choices they have. With no games completed in the top three turf grades I would love to hear someone justify why they would vote against replaying the round.

If this is true then it is an ABSOLUTE disgrace! The ECA's decision is not in the spirit of our competition and not in the spirit of cricket in general. I hope the ECA Exec keep tabs on this forum so they can get a feel for how negatively this decision has been received by ALL clubs and players in the competition.

Is this decision final, or is there still room for them to change the decision?

Word is stonnington and Glenn ira councils have both said that none of there grounds are available this weekend not sure how it effects your comp but not looking promising
Our curator hasn't left his office this week, but having said that, he doesn't leave the office on a good day!

Praise the Lord. Sense has prevailed. I think we can all take credit for this.

Following Saturday’s Round 1 play and the major weather interruption which occurred the Executive has been weighing it options.

With no specific Rule relating to this type of event for 1 day games the Executive has decided that in the best interest of the competition that it will utilise Clause 47 of the constitution and declare that all games and scores null and void for Round 1 for Dunstan to C Turf and activate the Reserve Day on October 28.

Here here! The best decision they have ever made. Justice has be done and lets hope they don't make another rash decision like they did earlier in the week. Good luck to all who get on tomorrow or enjoy the day off again.
