NORTH GEELONG vs EAST BELMONT
Selected Sides
North Geelong- A.Spierings, S.Hall, C.Millard, A.Armistead, A.Clark, S.Lymer, J.Stewart, S.Jacimovic, D.McGlinchey, B.Scown, S.Kingwell
East Belmont- P.Quick, A.Baars, G.Ward, H.McDonald, D.Allen, B.Nguyen, M.Hanley, S.Scannell, B.Spencer, L.Allen, S.Bogan

Preview- Both sides coming off good wins last week, in what should be an interesting encounter. North will be much younger than East, as East have a lot more experience in both the batting and bowling departments. North's bowlers peformed admirably last week restricting Newtown to 149 off 50 overs, whilst East's batsmen chased down 158 losing only 2 wickets. It will be a war between Scown and Baars to decide who will win this match up.

Player To Watch
Becker Nguyen(East Belmont)- Becker is having a year to remember, being selected in the Country Week squad, and becoming a key member of the East line up. Will be interesting to see how he performs after not being required to at or bowl last week.

Alf Clark (North Geelong)- The great man made a duck in his return match last week after a trip in Bali. I have never seen him fail twice in a row and on several occasions he has failed and then come out and made a centruy the next week.

TIP- North to win with Scown winning the battle with Baars:p
not a bad report there ants.... game was a tie.. so u werent too far off.... and quicky.. i no ur reading this... i dont eat all that many meat pies.. i just bowl em :p

NORTH GEELONG V EAST BELMONT

In what turned out to be a match for the ages North Geelong won the toss and elected to bat at Osborne Park where the deck looked funny but the outfield was lightening. Spierings never looked comfortable and was out in the third over to the bowling of Allen. Millard joined Hall and the pair embarked on a brillaint partnership before Millard went and edged one to the keeper after making his fifty to the bowling of Quick. Quicky's eyes then lit up when he saw a young kid head out without a lid and decides he wants to murder him. The kid got a big big big big big hurts so much bruise before being dismissed the next ball off a short one that was simply too quick. Pardon the pung. Alf Clark came in to join Hall who steadily made his way to 50 but Clark got a good one from Spencer and then the tail started to crumble, with North eventually finishing 9-181 after 49 overs when time was called. Sam Hall top scored with 69 whilst Leigh Allen took 3-21 and Peter Quick 2-20.

Scown got the start North required claiming the early wicket of Ward with a ripper of a delivery that knocked back middle stump. Hamish McDonald joined Baars and they set about chasing. McDonald was injured in the field and thus 3s were 2s and 4s were 2s etc, which considering the match outcome may have been costly. Some tight bowling was not getting wickets until Alf Clark provided the spark trapping McDonald in front. Baars got bored without the heckling of Hamish so he decided to edge one to Clark in the slips for a very well made 56, but the tide had turned. Spencer came in and left just as quick, and then wickets were continually falling. Sam Scannell who was providing to be a handy bat was run out on the last ball of the 48th over leaving East with 6 to get off 6 balls. Quick and Allen at the crease. Ball 1 Allen hit to the fielder and single was taken. Ball 2 Quick missed a bye was taken with Jacimovic missing the stumps narrowly. Ball 3 was a repeat of Ball 1 and Ball 4 a repeat of Ball 2. Ball 5 Allen hit it back at Scown who fumbled and they scraped through to tie the game with one ball remaining. Quick got bat on ball and it ventured out to Shaun Kingwell who knocked the stiumps down from mid off running Quick out and causing a tie. Some controversy towards the end but all in all a tie was probably the right result.

Both innings were remarkably similar, a wicket fell then a big partnership then regular wickets towards the end. Amazing to play in, shattered we didn't get the 6 and shattered I have this massive bruise which is the size of a football on my thigh. Thanks Quicky.

3. S.Hall 2 A.Baars 1 S.Lymer 1. L. Allen

Originally written by Solid Defence.
I'm good mates with these three and all this is merely speculation. Luke loves Geelong, Nunny is still finishing exams and not that keen on cricket this season and Sam is determined to stick it out at GCC

Right on!!!! another special from the crappertizer.:D

Re: GCA & BPCA match previews and reviews

St Peters vs Marshall Well perhaps the blunder of the season will go to the St Peters cricket club after they won the toss and put marshall in obviously thinking an easy outright was on the cards. But thanks to a brilliant 142 from levi cameron and with great support from andrew williams 66 and trent leslie 55 plus some good hitting towards the end from jarred messenger 48 and adam barrett 37not out the bears amassed a massive 7-381. A huge effort will be required by st peters next week to even get close to the score let alone worrying about an outright result.

levi 142, st peters must have bowled with no arms and spat the ball out their gobs. coz he would have collapsed after the first 20 runs. biggest score marshall have posted in over a decade id say.

to be honest they didnt have much besides illingsworth who bowled a quick opening spell and there fielding was pretty ordinary but it was still a great effort by the big man, geez you'd have to go back more than a decade wouldnt ya? brilliant performance by the bears none the less
