Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Look guys; I'm not up with the NDCC situation probably as much as I should be but why is it that clubs think that bringing in a ton of players and paying them truck loads of money will benefit the club long-term? I mean with all due respect to you Dino, etc; look at Newcomb now; barely struggling to stay afloat. Was it all done to try and win a premiership in one season? Look at the guys that went there Murray, Roach, etc; notorious money-chasers and surely they wouldn't have thought for a minute that these players would still be there once the tap was being turned off. I don't know if there is much of a relationship between the football and cricket clubs out that way but the similarities are scary. Football club throws cash around; recruits mercenaries; wins flags and lo-and-behold were on their knees before they did it, are on their knees now and through it all; have no u/18s. I wonder how easy people will sleep at night when they look at the history books and see those two flags written up when the club is near extinction two years later. You tell me what the problem is; wheel out the cash; get success; everyone leaves and then the club suffers 200-point losses every week. Then look back at the cricket side of the club and think to yourself; 'hey what's going on here?' Whoever is in charge needs to think to themselves; am i doing the best thing for this club and club community. My answer would be a definite 'no'. People wonder why the rest of the GCA have little if any sympathy for the plight ahead and currently for Newcomb; hopefully I have given you a hint.

Holy crap, the cheetahs lost by lots, shock horror. i c the walrus made a big contribution. Now will you shut ya big mouths, pull ya heads in, head back to NUGGETVILLE and train harder than you did in churches before ya come into a new comp with ya mouth wide open and your eyes shut. Earn some respect by playing good cricket against more than one side before you go off at the gob in future and maybe, just maybe the local cricket community wont think you are the biggest bunch of underachieving loud mouth fu%*wits in the history of local cricket. :p

Gee NDCC are flying picking blokes that don't even play anymore to play Div1 1sts. Shows how good the two's players are, no respect shown from the selectors. I'd imagine a few two's players would be dirty:(

23 runs in the two's, and that earned him a spot in the ones as an opener

So....Which is it?!

So what- Newcomb are struggling? Kicking em while their down wont help!!
Seriously as much as there is knob's at every club- does anyone actually like seeing a team get flogged every week? Look at Marshall...i cant watch anymore!!

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

all the great long term clubs have strong junior programs with long term committee members that agree on a common goal. and they dont pay heaps for players. The rest of them come and go and change divisions. but its a lot easier said than done when you have to follow the moronic GCA and its inept egotistical fools egos that run it.

agree, hate seeing clubs get flogged consistently, no good for any club. But it was only 2 years ago marshall were in finals also. it can change quick.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

marshall are paying cammarotto 5k, wtf!! he has a good coaching record only, is past it as a player in GCA, has nothing to work with, took no good players with him. This will ony hurt the club more.

Mate you must be a young bloke and don't remember the shit they dished out at struggling clubs for the 4 years or so that they were up.

If you think it's right to leave blokes out of the ones and play a bloke that doesn't bat or bowl and just ignore blokes from the two's well thats up to you.

As for this young kid playing, I have no dramas if they come out and say were going to play this young kid to try him out. But when they say his earned his spot with good performances and his made 20 runs in 3 hits well thats just plain stupid:eek:

He isn't worth 5c #1 Mercenary, just got Marshall when they were on there knees and prob had no option. Just sums the bloke up really how anyone could take 5k off a club like that when he would know he's well and truly past it is beyond me.
Worse thing is he's a Marshall bloke originally who could of maybe done it for peanuts to give something back to local cricket and his junior club:(

I agree, its all about the junior programs, 100%. Its the difference between say newtown and Newcomb. Newcomb have weak Juniors, and a high rotation of players for whatever reasons- and cant sustain any type of winning culture. Newtown have been so strong for such a long time because of their strong junior foundations and the kids that come through wanting to play seniors there- at a strong club. And even though Newtown are down atm, they will be back again thanks to the Juniors coming through. Whereas it will take Newcomb some time...or alot of money!

Yeh u make a valid point- i do vividly remember them being genuine 'C U Next TuesdayS'...but in my mum's words- do 2 wrongs make a right? Haha nah i really dont care much for em anyway...was just making a point about not enjoying watching the battlers.

As for the kid- Hey if they got no one else performing anywhere and no one but the big fatty couch man to come up and play- why not get the young blokes some experience and a good crack at the big time!! Looking towards the future i like it...its like Melbourne in the AFL playing all their kids second half of the year cuz they were going nowhere with the old brigade so may as well give the young blokes some time to develop against the best.

Just to give you more ammo Cammarotto was a Dino before he went to Marshall.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

In all seriousness on the Camma issue- I'd take half that $$ and prob do twice as much on the field. And im shit. It makes absolutely no sense.

I just blacked out. What happened...did i just write a few solid thoughtfully written posts?

WOO GO FROGS

I didnt say he had earned his spot. I said and i quote He is being given a well deserved crack at the ones after a solid performance in the twos this season and last season.

I also said that if you look at the stats then no he hasnt earned the spot .

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

just looked at north geelongs line up, they will struggle this year for sure, got some average players in there at present. Kurt took some major stick, very average gentle lefty, jaca playing ones disgrace. when do they play the Dinos, could be good game.
