I can understand what you are saying Shane and possibly the standard is similar between the good sides. The big difference is that there are a lot more good sides in Div 2 and it is a turf based competition, which by its nature seems to weed out the good cricketers from the park cricketers very quickly.

I think what might make the BPCA a stronger comp is that they are looking to go to an all one-day comp in the future which will suit a few cricketers in Geelong that can't play two weeks or cant be bothered with 85 overs in the field anymore.

That will be interesting to see what happens if that goes ahead, I think it's a great idea personally it's a shame we won't be there:(

Beck my friend; sorry but for the third and possibly last time; I am not Steve Illingworth.

Great chase by South today; witnessed a bit of it. A good batting line-up which chased superbly on a bowling green ground. Take nothing away from the Swans but the Lions were out on their feet with bowlers; no Skrobolak or Zanoni, Stow opening the bowling injured of five steps and Armstrong on to bowl spin 11 overs in. Still; 300 is 300 and they did it well.

I would have absolutely no doubt you will go straight into Div 2. The teams that are in Div 3; with due respect to them, are there for a reason and specifically to work their way up. You have turf, very solid junior program, solid committee structure. These are the pre-cursors; bang...straight into Divvy 2.

We(St Albans) all hope your right but I just doubt weather the other clubs will allow it.

He talks more shit than any bloke in the comp on the field. Loves the sledge
But more importantly he backs it up unlike most:cool:

Bambury is a good bat - a very good bat....in the top two or three in the comp but his antics on the field are fairly ordinary. Only one worse would that f*ckstick from Grovedale Tsitas. I don't know how Harps puts up with him.

Put my left aggot on the comp retaining the same format for a very long time. Two-day cricket ; or at least a mixture is here for a very long time.

I reckon our mob would go alright against most sides in Div 2. I'd have money we would knock Newcomb off at the moment as well.
Seen Koliba make a hundred for Geelong in a one dayer on Melbourne cup day,Fu$k he can bat. He'd be hard to get out on song.

Re: Geelong Cricket '08/'09(gca/bpca)

Great chase by the Cheetahs yesterday just came up a bit short. but I think we weren't that far away St Albans couldn't probe through our strong batting line up and we batted for 71 overs which proves that we will be there abouts come finals time.

Well done to St Albans but after what we saw over the last two weeks we won't fear them whatsoever if we happen to meet come finals in fact I hope we do!

A bit short.......I don't call 100 odd runs a bit short....face it, you just weren't good enough d*ckhead. You don't win finals batting for 71 overs either.

Your last comment proves you have learnt nothing. Be gracious in defeat and say things like 'they were the better team on the day' and leave it at that.

Thank you knowa, my thoughts exactly. This F**kwit comes on here weeks ago talkin it up like they are the west indies of the 80's after beating a lowly jan juc. they play a top 4 side and get flogged by 120 and not even bat the day with st albans missing muzza who is a bloody gun bowler, and they let 376 get smashed against them the week before and they're happy. F**k me have they got a bit to learn about the game or what. bunch of spastics if ya ask me, with massive gobs that dont match their abilities. im sick of em, dont ever hear your shit again cheetah boy, piss off:mad:

i think renny hit the nail on the head SSJ. dont think you would beat the genuine div2 sides but no probs with the dregs though. most bpca sides would beat the dregs at present. if your club has 4 junior sides, 4 seniors and is clearly stronger than most in gca2 they will prob put you in. but dont be surprised if all the clubs bark up and make you go div 3 first and then earn it by winning club championship. GCA run by cock smokers who love power. i wouldnt accept div3, rather play BPCA than play that shit and becme a leyland brother.

I know i keep bringing it up but Thomson are one of the best sides in Div 2, and we keep knocking them off in our practice matches. I know everyone will get defensive and say that they are only practice games, but to do it consistently surely counts for something. I don't think that it is pure coincidence we have beeten them each time we have played them. We cant be too far off the pace.

Our bowlers this week will be Jonesy, Mckay(med/swing) and Sheridan(left arm med) with Blayne Wegerner to bowl off spin and Nick Mallyon bowls handy seamers. Our bowling is handy even without Muzz for the BPCA.
I'd hope we could defend 376 or the stand in skipper might get the sack for good;)

Who's going to get the runs for South Sunday Daz?

Rito.... us boys at north are struggling this year... we've lost a few and didnt gain a lot..

but still... jacas our 2nd best keeper... maybe even our best keeper but while dannys there and making runs he'll play in our 1's....

also.. kurt hiller... if he plays 2's.. who r we gunna bring up.... isnt it betta if we leave the 16 year olds in the 2's and give them the experience and the confidence to bowl teams out... rather than rush them up and knock all the confidence outta of them
