I think it is more like they finally gave him a go. Played against him in Warrnambool and he was a very talented young player on the way up. He will definately be a player to watch out for in the future if he sticks around Geelong. It has been a bit tough for him to get a decent bowl when you have got Talarico bowling basically unchanged from one end. He must of been injured in this game for him to only bowl 10 overs.

ya must know by now i dont rate tala that highly as a bowler, i think people respect his bowling coz he is a gun bat, but he aint a good bowler in my book. the fact that he bowls so often instead of giving guys a go is enough to shit me. does anybody else think he is very over rated and over bowled, there bloody must be, coz he aint that good.

Unless chasing Shaun Campbell meant you got his three other name sakes at the club !! From all reports Woodsy is a quality bowler and he would be the BPH connection. Not sure who the third one is ??

did u know the campbell gang have a very solid history with Marshall CC. their father and grandfather are very well respected people down there. ive had more than one convo with father nobby, who would love to see em play there one day. doesnt mean they will but i know dad would be mentioning it to them. he has tried many times but he seems pretty happy at teesdale and has for some time.

how bout the grand finals for 08/09 is this week... why are we all ready talking about the 09/10 season... this time in 07/08 we thought we had fergy.. and then a couple of months later he went to modda.. so why are we talking about him now

exactly, i like fergie as a bloke. but he is only with you guys until a better deal comes along, signings mean sweet f.a. in GCA unless they are the only player signed and under the allowance. GCA will throw it out straight away.

Yep. Nobby played a lot of his cricket at Marshall and has tried to get Shaun to go and have a crack there. You are right when you say that he is happy at Teesdale, however if they manage to get a flag this weekend, anything is possible after that.

as far as divi 3 goes.. not too many people have focused on divi 3 and neither have i to be honest so just goin on recent form and wat other people have been saying.. which is most blokes predicted a guild v modda final....

Yeah I know no one cares about divi 3 but i will end with this. If you are going on recent form Teesdale lost 1 game for the year (to Modda) which was in early Decenber. If everything had of gone according to the ladder positions, Modda would have played Guild in the semi and therefore could not have played them in the granny. That did all change after the 1st week of finals and Modda are now out. Looking forward to the granny this week with hopefully a Roos victory after 3 grand final losses in the last 4 years.

Re: Geelong Cricket Chat

My Grand Final tips for this weekend.

GCA DIV 1.. Geelong West (i hope) Have done a great job to get there. More than enough batting talent to win it. My only concern would be there bowling depth is a little light. Good luck spency...

GCA DIV 2.. Thomson (This one is theres to loose, i think north shore have done well to get there, but there luck will run out against the tigers this weekend.

GCA DIV.3.. Guild St.Marys. They will want to prove a point in this game to try and push back up to div.2. I dont think it will be an easy win as there opposition has had a fantastic season. Im tipping a nail bitter...

B.P.C.A 1sts. Barwon Heads. They have been the standout team for 2 seasons and now how to get the job done on the big day. Back to back flags there for the taking...

Any body else got any thoughts on the Grand Finals....

Div 1: Would love to see Geelonmg West win but with their bowling attack they will need to bat first and post well in excess of 200. A flag would be an awesome result for a club that up until a year or two ago was predominantly a Div 2 club. Excellent work by Spencey and his boys.

Div 2: Thomson should get over the line here. North Shore have excelled and dare i say over-achieved after finishing 4th bottom last year. Mitch Troy again a great effort first year as coach with only 4 new players into the line-up. Riss, Dazza; get your heads right on Sat though and play basic cricket and you will get there.

Div 3: Not through ignorance however is it that i don't know too much about Div 3. I believe Teesdale have been extremely successful and achieved well first year in. GSM though have gone right down in my eyes after last night's poor effort at Presentation Night. Giddyup Teesdale.

Well done Geelong West and well done North Shore. Not sure what odds you would have got for these two sides at the start of the season but you would have made a hell of a lot of money. West; essentially an improved Div 2 club over the past few seasons; hats off to them, a little bit of recruiting but by and large just some rapid improvement and good strong club ethos. North Shore, fourth-last last season with I'm guessing 4 or 5 wins and only 4 new recruits this season. Well done to Mitch Troy, pulled them together to come from the clouds and knock over the raging favourites.

Loud, boisterous, disrespectful; you name it. Someone is getting presented with league life membership; the most important award on the night and they sit in the back corner and act like drunken yobbos at a footy match; many derogatory remarks about Jan also heard by nearby tables. The word will get back to the powers that be and having just lost the GCA 3 GF, promotion to Div 2 won't be on the horizon for some time i would think.

I'll second that. Either one would have been long odds 12 months ago; the double would have almost laughable, but here we are. Great to have the GCA1 and GCA2 finals played at GCC/West Kardinia; pity about the Friday night sprinklers but it perhaps seems there's just too many departments at COGG that don't talk to each other.

North Shore have really struggled in the previous three seasons, so it just shows what a difference a few committed people can make. Not sure who the doer is there, assume it's Glenn Thulborn as he's the one who's stuck with the cricket section over the years. Even with over 300 in the bank a few people thought they might not be able to stop Thomson as West K was a road, but knocking Smiljanic off early for a blob was a bonus. Salta, O'Neil and Dahlhaus all were good but in the end just too many to chase down, and 3 run-outs at the end were a waste.

Also well done Teesdale in GCA3. All year people assumed it would be Modda v Guild Saints in the big one, but not so. The great man Lindsay "Cookie" Maskell will be in unstoppable conversation form now (come to think of it, he always is!).

Too bad guild didnt win the GF cos now they have no hope of promotion we have to put up with these tools in our division for even longer. maybe GCA 3 can become the modern day GDCA and we might just forget to invite guild to the party

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNND THE RAMS ARE RAMMING HERE.... THE RAMS ARE RAMMING IT THERE, WERE RAMMING IT HERE, WERE RAMMING IT THERE, WERE RAMMING IT EVERY WHERE!!!! AND WHERE DID WE RAM IT......

To all you blokes you sit on this and get stuck in to Tala... well he rammed it right up your arses!!!
Lost only 1 game since rd2 and practiced on turf possibly 7 times for the year... Imagine if this was the case with some of the other clubs that reguraly post on this site.... No one would else would get a word in.....

Division 1 Powerhouse through the 80's/ early 90's, unfairly omitted during the mid 90's and built the club back through 00's including a divi 2 flag. A solid bunch of juniors who remain friends on and off the field came together through Spencey and Tala to win a flag. Havent had to spend any money(we just dont have it) and dont carry on and worry what other clubs spend, privledges they receive and lack respect shown to us by opposition clubs! Just get the job done and enjoy our cricket!

Congratulations to Spencey & Talarico(we wouldn want to speculate on his open market price would we...), you deserve this more than any one... just shows what that loving your own club is.....
