huge news from down at bergerland...breaking news infact....i was down at a resturant in heidelberg sunday night (kfc) , and just happened to run into grant jordan picking up a variety bucket (with a large potatoe and gravy) and he tells me gun opener brett smout has done his ACL at footy training on monday nyt where they had a intra club match and will take no part in the bergers finals campaign. massive blow for the river rats and young smout especially as he was returning to form last week with the runs.

R.I.P. Smouts left knee :(

You have really done ur reasearch there bingo to find out that smout done his knee on monday night when you clearly stated you were at that great restraunt on sunday night when you found out. Anyone heard the rumour the Greensie are talking to the DV and have been offered a spot in Barclay Shield.

Wonder what macleod and the others in Money Shield think about this?

Re: HDCA cricket forum

2 big semi finals this week,

ROSANNA vs greensborough, with rosanna having a full line up??? they should bring home the goods on there home desert. There should be plenty of runs scored over the weekend and plenty of leather chasing. Big johnny and Kane Shaw will be hoping for a few big spells of bowling from two of the competitons best bowlers.Greensborough will be needing their 3 main batsmen all to fire up in Kelsey , Butera and Butters and hope that others around them contribute to posting a match winning score.
Greensboroughs bowling depth will be a worry for them with it really showing that once you see out Kelsey and Harvey there aint much else to be worried about. With housam almatra, Steve nikolovski, Luke Anderson and Jordan O'Neil all very good batsmen they have no need to worry about chasing any total down. They also have the likes of Scott Shelton, Jon Raywood and Nick Carlton who all can bat and will definately help with some depth.
On their home Lush outfield ROSANNA for me.

BANYULE vs Heidelberg, should be the better semi final if your wanting to know who to spectate as a neutral. All year banyule has lead from the front (up until last round ) and shown the other teams what their up against for the flag. They have a good top order led by Brent O'Connor and Justin Poyser who have been magnificant this year, and a solid middle order and not the worst tail either. Heidelbergs bowling is at full strength this week (if you go by there team on the internet) and definately will be looking to take a few early ones and really restrict the bears.
Heidelbergs batting has been OK this year with a big thanks to Brad grindal and veteran steve cashen. With the favrins back they will be hoping that they can contribute to a good total and the start of the innings and like greensborough, hope that others can contribute. They definately will be hoping Big Bubbles and Russell Gardner will spend a long time in the middle as they do not want there tail batting to early. Banyules bowlers will be fired up and looking to roll the bergs for a low total on their firy pitch. With mcmurray back named in the team aswell as regulars Jeff Wilson, Brent O'Connor, Daniel Barnes and youngster Josh Young it is a very strong bowling attack that will be looking to grab a few early ones and roll the bergs for a small total which they have done on several occasions.
At home the BEARS for me.

any thoughts???

Re: HDCA cricket forum

ive tipped this grand final Fizz, bingo and crumba all year guys! great games over the weekend with my side the howzats showing great form with the bat... great knock from the best player in comp at the moment of 174, and the bear made a very SOLID 40.... i must say it was good to see my man Parnell get a few.. batted very well! sad that harvs couldnt get out there when they needed 40 of 4 overs... he would have had a go!! kane shaw bowled a great spell knocking over the inform butters.... and jimmy waywood showed plenty of character with a ********ed back to lead his side home on a very quick ground.
spent some time over the grazy bears home on saturday guys with the young guns Smout and anoop looking very solid for the 1st hour until smout was out leg before for 40... big future for bergs....ocka bowled a great spell but wasnt enough for the bears.... should be a big grand final guys.. i cant split em this year... but im going on past history... playing at viewbank ..... with heidelberg winning 3 oneday finals and sannas losing there this year.. my bets with the river rats.

Re: HDCA cricket forum

Great finals on the weekend. Well done to Heidelberg with their efforts, as it was a good solid alround effort. Rosanna must go in with a lot of confidence with the bat, but the bowlers must be a worry...........even though apparently Greensborough batted really well.

Final is at Chelsworth, which always baffles me..............great oval but gees the facilities (such as parking, catering etc) is very second rate............but they need the revenue to pay for the Interantional allstars.

My tip is for a low scoring affair, with perhaps an attempt at a reverse outright...............Heidelberg to come through in a pressure cooker situation.

Re: HDCA cricket forum

Reverse outright??? That's an interesting one! Can't see it happening. The best team all year has been on top and goes into the match full of confidence. Rosanna have the better bats, better bowlers and field a lot better than the more experienced Heidelberg team, who rely too much on too few.

Hus,Niko and the boys to score plenty and for the Bergs to stumble in a run chase against the boys from DeWinton yet again.

Well Blue Blood only time will tell who has the better team!!!!!

As for stumbling, yes The Bergs did a couple of years ago but i can tell you that there is still a feeling of redemption amongst those that were involved that year, i don't need to tell you how much Stickman is looking forward to the weekends game!!

Lets just hope you Rosanna boys bring your best game cause i can guarantee that The Berg's will!!!!

Sure to be a game with plenty of feeling in it..........
