Re: mmvca
just going to give my thoughts on each team
West Coburg - most probably the best side in the competition and obviously would've been on top had it not been for one players stupidity, they have a very strong bowling attack who can provide an all day fast approach(barker and appleyard the big guns) their batting is also up there but calapse is always a chance - team can be too tarek orientated and when he loses it the team does also
Sunshine - well, they have a couple of handy bowlers who can move it "early" but otherwise they should be taken apart most days, their batting is very hit or miss - if you can catch they shouldn't total a big score whatsoever
St Andrews - Jolley their key with the bat, along with him and gavtap they can usually help the rest of the team to putting a big score together - and their bowlers much like west coburg can just about defend anything - newton and wernham the start of a very smart lineup
East Coburg - must just be doing the job against the lesser sides because they are one themselves - zoren is about it, no real bowlers to test the better batsmen in the competition out
St Mary's - harris is in good touch likewise with his opening partner, get thru them early and they are brittle, however a form team is a good team. on the bowling side of things spin is the key to their success - a good player of spin will ruin their day entirely, they ;like to get thru their overs quickly in the middle stage of the day and drag out the last hour or two with a slow over rate and put the pressure on to hit in the air - can they do it? bit like the kangeroo's in the footy season - paper not great, on field doing well
socials - with danny campbell and vernon playing they are always going to be a chance, young king fresh from district 2nds can play aswell but their depth may be tested come finals time
haig - are haig, would be good to see an upset from this team at sometime this season, i'm not willing to say that beating merlo was an upset - kusenevic their only chance however opening bowler who can bat goes well... not sure of his name
Merlo - punk/kelly need a big one for them to get most times, pitsy and then who is going to get 10 wickets for less than 200 to help them in the future?
Glenroy - i would have had these guys in my top 4 easily at the start of the season, wardy is now helped with inclusion of a very handy youngster "greany" who i believe played district 3's with essendon last year, the boy can also bat but is yet to be seen given a chance up the order - strong batting lineup esp if parker can get going howver inexperience could well prove their dwnfall for a couple of years until the teenagers start to mature mentally (always unlikely at glenroy)
st francis - would have had these guys in the top 4 at the start of the season aswell, but with steward now playing 2's their promotion of youth has seen them abit lean. however with a full side in eilers, babo and new kid harding who played with king at north melbourne gives them a very strongmiddle order and a big platform for lower order batsmen - form is an issue. costello hasn't taken as many as last year and that is a key factor for them
bsu - very unorthodox batting style, pays off some days, but rarely. hoang is very promising but does lose his head unfortunately as he could very well win games off his own bat and that is probably wat they need. krusty is their one man band and does get the best in the comp out
pacco - similar to last year can win some but generally lose more than they win, shouldn't make finals for several years to come
