Re: mmvca

Has Sunshine YCW been confirmed joining the comp? and will they play A Turf?

Re: mmvca

Is it true that the mmvca and the vwca are merging to form a stronger comp ??? A mate at the VCA says "its very much on the cards" ...

VWCA= Vic Womens Cricket Association doesnt it?

And i would doubt it very much that Sunshine YCW would go straight in to A Turf, unless a team would want to drop down, which i doubt.

There's been talk for years about a possible merger between MMVCA and NWCA, but thats now been put to rest and will not happen.

They are a crap comp anyhow, the NWCA, so it is a good thing that we are not merging with them.

Why was there the the possible merger with the NWCA? MMVCA is already a merge assocation from years back
MMVCA, some of you guys were in the NWCA before the merger/ takeover ;) between Merlynston and Hadfield, how was the comp back then.

From what I know NWCA juniors are very strong, have senior clubs from the VTCA,MMVCA and NWCA playing in NWCA. I am not sure about the senior clubs.

The senior comp in NWCA is ********e. Has been for years. They have a very good junior program, but it costs a small fortune to get in. We entered a junior side last year, but the only way we could do it was to enter a senior side, otherwise they wouldnt let us enter any junior sides.

Re: mmvca

I wouldnt be surprised if Sunshine YCW goes straight into A turf. I beleive when Sunshine heights crossed over from the defunct Sunshine comp they went straight into A Turf.

As has been quoted before, the A Turf already comprises of 12 teams and with no club able to come up from B Turf, the comp and clubs would not want to see a bye.
The only option would be for Haig Amateurs, who finshed on the bottom to volunteer to be relegated, but I couldn't see this happening.
I don't know what Sunshine YCW are like generally, but looking at there record from last year, it probaly wouldn't hurt them to start in B Turf.
I can't remember the circumstances with Sunshine Hts, but it did not create a bye.

Any chance of elaborating on your comment regarding merger/takeover. Are you under the impression that it was a takeover by one of the two clubs.

I think Sunshine Heights came in when Batman St Marks were going bad. I think, I cant be 100% sure.

Re: mmvca

I played in the old CDCA days for a pretty strong club which they are still in MMVCA and I think the comp now is a lot lower standard to what it was.
I have been asked to come back to the comp but I feel it would be a waste of time because of the standard of cricket in the MMVCA.

Would not know if there there it was a takeover or merger, not involved at the club or when they were 2 clubs. All I heard for years and years is Merlynston is taking over Hadfiled or both Merlo and Haddy are merging and it never happen until one day it did

Club appears to be strong now senior and Junior teams

Re: mmvca

I think he actually meant VWCA because from what ive heard , the standard of cricket is very similar , if not worse than that of the women.

Well Slipper, before shooting off your comments like a tool, how about letting us know what comp you play in and I'll let you know what standard your playing at.

Like most local comps, the standard can go up and down. Clubs in the MMVCA don't go out and spend alot of money on players, therefore we're not going to have ex district players walking into our comp on the big bucks.
What we do have thou, is a very even comp, with eight different winners of the top grade in the last ten years.
I'd prefer to have that then having a couple of clubs dominating every year because they are going out and spending the big dollars.@|

Well, it might not be the greatest standard in the world, but we 12 A Turf sides who pay stuff all money because we have guys in our competition who play with mates, and who play in a competition where its not predictable who will be fighting for finals spots.

Iam guessing your probably a VTCA dikhead who gets overpaid like 90% of the flogs that play in that comp.
