The merger is still in progress, with the new constitution just being released and another summary of the merger.
If this merger is to go ahead, it will happen for next season.
The word coming out of everyone from the NWCA, is that it is just a formality. Thev'e got their heads in the sand.
I've said it many times and will say it again, until the By-Laws have been put in writing, it cant really push forward. I'm sure these will be presented to the clubs very soon.
If the covers get down on time tonight, then we shouldn't have any problems with starting tomorrow. The comp won't call it off.

yeah i thought they would get flogged against West Cob and have a bad loss before the finals. I thingkSt Marys are a good even side and needed a loss before the finals series. I still think they'll make the GF but wont win it this year. if they are consistent again in 08/09 then it might be their year.
anyway time will tell. no doubt mmvca you play at St Marys!

todays results.
St Marys 4/180 def West Coburg 118.
St Andrews 288 def East coburg 278 in a cracker of a game.
Haig put an end to Sunny Heights season.
Glenroy flogged Merlo.
Makes it interesting for finals, as there wasnt much percentage difference between Easts and Glenroy.

Let me just get this right the basis of the merge is as follows - 1. MMVCA wants Junior's, and the NWCA has an extensive Junior set-up. 2. NWCA want's to play on turf? And they currently dont have any turf grounds?
Is there a difference in standard between the NWCA? Obviously its always a little harder to say because 1 Comp is on Turf and the other on Mats. But I have only ever played on Turf in the MMVCA and have no idea about anything about the NWCA - except there is truck loads of cash floating around!!!

I also went to the standrews vs east coburg game. Was a very good game and well done to east coburg for making a competitive effort of the game.
Both teams that played in that game deserved to make finals and it is fitting given the fact that sunshine lost to haig that they will both get to play. Although as a member who plays for a team in the final 4 i would much have preffered to have had sunshine Heights in there. What a disgrace Sunshine are

Have to agree with you SOMB. How any side can let John Gioupas 90 make is disgusting.
I think i got the percentages right this morning, and Easts % was 1.231, and Glenroy was 1.191.
What a way to finish the home and away season.

I would be interested to know how many sides clubs have in finals this week.
We have A Turf and C Mats in finals, aswell as our 1 day grade in NWCA.

I also went to the standrews vs east coburg game. Was a very good game and well done to east coburg for making a competitive effort of the game.

Second rate you say is that why when our comps competed earlier this season you had your pants pulled down. I think you will be in for a nasty surprise if the merger does eventuate my friend. I think from memory we made about 280 and bowled you guys our for something like 160

Mate, i think if you did some research, you'll find the mmvca side you beat wasn't one of their strongest of teams. But if you want to hang your hat on that then good luck to you. maybe you should stick to writing comments in your own forum. As for the merger, will not happen in near future.

So why then are you so worried about any good batsmen and bowlers in our comp if you guys are going to pull our pants down next year if the merger goes ahead. It seems you faced the 'best' bowlers and bowled to the 'best' batsmen in that comp game and smashed us, so you'll have nothing to worry about.
What are your thoughts on our talent? What have you heard about our competition in terms of standard? Players? Etc
Was the comp game played on mats or synthetic?
How did Glady go this year? Finals? Who are your players to watch from our point of view?

in reality who knows what comp is better I guess we will see if they merge Im sure there are great players in both comps
Glady have played in 12 of the last 13 finals series we are one of the better clubs along with Paccoe and more recently Taylors Lakes.
Our best players are john Markham ex north Melb Distrist bat and Heath Shephard who played in jika for years most famous for making 280 out of 330 in a semi over there.
Other gun players in comp are Paul Thomas Taylors Lakes
Cameron Hare pascoe vale and Clint McKays brother Scott is also becoming a good player

apparently st andrews in-form batsman neville taylor has slipped disks in his back during their last round game against east coburg...
the physio has ruled him out for 5-6 weeks, but he is very keen to play.
it will be interesting to see wether he makes any runs...@|
