Faulted once, no reason why you can't fail again. No guarantees in GF's.

Watched both days, very entertaining and tough cricket.

Just a few observations.

At least a dozen catches went down, mainly in the slips cordon from both sides. Some costly ones as well.

Kev Craddock great innings for St Marys, probaly his best and most important innings ever.

Thought Jolley let St Marys off the hook. Why he didnt bring back on Scotty Whernham at the end to clean up the tail straight away was a little strange. St Marys got maybe 50 more than they should have.

Gavin Tapner showed why he is one of the most valuable players in the comp for the past ten years. Great knock.

Just to finish off. For one particular St Andrews players sake, they would want to win. Thought his celebration was way over the top when they passed St Marys. It was great to win first innings (and thats all it was), and sure celebrate but that was too much.

Looking forward to next week. First hour will set the tone .

Anyone who thinks this game is over before its over is kidding themselves....

I remember back to the 05/06 season in B Grade St. Andrews and Merlo fought out a tough 3 days of cricket but at the end St Andrews looked to have the game in the bag needing only 27 runs with 6 wickets in hand. We ended up losing the last 6 for 15 runs.

So anyone who thinks this game is over is kidding themselves - the game is very much up fro grabs and is there for taking its just whoever wants to stand up and take it. Finals Pressure does wierd things to crickers, even very good and talented cricketers!!!

I still have nightmares about that game!!!

St.Andrews will not get bowled out again, the batting order will not faulter 2 innings in a row believe you me.

I seem to remeber a Grand Final a few years back played between Moonee Valley and Batman StMarks where a star studded Moonee Valley batting order was not supposed to faulter??hope history doesnt repeat itself hey Dave?

Well if we were moonee valley maybe we would worry about that, but knowing that we are St.Andrews i dont think we have to worry about the Mooney valley game as its irrelevant. As for Dave you bet your bottom dollar he will fire this week. Go sainters

Very relevant given its the same cocky captain!

If you have the b---s to give it on the ground, dont sook when you get it back, easy to make comment sitting on the outside of the fence.
This final is full on and no quarter is being given by both sides and emotions are very high.
To the peanut gallery and hangers on,keep the comments coming because we thrive on this and the end result will be that the better team will win!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive been reading all this rubbish about how the spin twins are going to tear us apart, we cant play spin raeburn turns the most its making me sick. Well why dont they open up the bowling go in with 9 batters its as simple as that. Il tell you why the st.andrews guys dont care whos bowling at them, they make teams earn their wickets and im sure we will make enough runs. They will have to bat twice to get near our 1st innings. Go sainters

i think u shuld suspend ur self and ur players from talkn on this until the final ball has been bowled some of ur comments are making u look like a wanka...!!!

Re: mmvca

Certainly alot of over-inflated egos around here!!

Well, anyway, it looks like this final is going down to the wire, which is great.

Much better than a lop-sided affair. Good to see a bit of passion around, just that sometimes it goes over the top!!

Not sure what you mean FOS, I thought the St.Marys crowd were very well behaved with barely a work directed at your boys. After the pay they got late in the innings I won't be surprised if they might direct at bit back.....happy to give it, "dont sook when you get it back"

Re: mmvca

On the A Grade Final....

The underuse of J.Grant bewilders me. Hunters continual use of himself as a bowling option whilst not using Grant was pure self indulgence, fair enough he was economical with his bowling, though the all important wickets column for Sunday was empty for Hunter. This can also be said for the overuse of J.Cash as well; Cash was notably tired during a long spell in hot weather and was still being bowled. To have a team 7-70 and on the ropes and not to have used a strike bowler such as Grant until just before the tea break would have St. Andrews relatively happy, especially when Grant came on and got two edges into the slips that were dropped off his bowling. On the batting side of things, Grant was at number 11 in the 1st innings. Just for the record, Grant won the St.Mary’s batting average 3 seasons ago. Also... In the form he is in, K. Craddock deserves a rise up the order this weekend.

Why does Hunter continually bat and bowl his mates in front of other players? Is it a boys club down at St.Mary’s?

Over and Out.
