Can now confirm that Andrew Fergusson will be back at North next season.
Worst kept secret in Geelong that one was.
Ross Aylmer will be remaining as coach of the club.
Col Millard will be remaining as captain of the 1s.

Millsy in GCA3 would be the biggest mismatch since the outgoing SABCC coach Jason Murray played a season for St Francis Xavier in Geelong Churches B Grade in the late 1990's. I remember in the first game of that season, their keeper (who obviously hadn't seen him bowl - this is Churches, remember) stood in the usual position that you would for a B Grade bowler for the first ball, then moved back with sore hands about 10 metres for the next ball for obvious reasons!

I imagine Millsy will also provide excellent off-field value as well. I assume he's still a party animal.

hey mate can u remmember where that first game was played? also i think the wicket keeper knew what he was in for ,< the wicketkeeper is his cousin> forgot to mention he now wicketkeeps at sth barwon.

At Chanel College. Even pre-drought, the outfield was as rough as guts but I don't think St Francis Xavier paid much if anything to hire the ground so we all had the joy of playing there. The malthoid pitch (about the only one remaining in Geelong at the time) was badly cracked, so you can imagine Jason Murray was pretty tricky on it! Amazingly Muz didn't win the GCCA B Grade bowling average that year; he came second to Steve Doedee who still goes round for the Frogs.

Kidding aren't you. So if Fergusson plays; it would be safe to assume that he would be your paid professional and that Millard would just be a non-paid captain.

good point... by saying we dont pay blokes i mean.. of course our coach gets paid(in last years case, Millard our captain would have got paid) but i dunno how next year will work with that... all i no is we dont pay blokes under the table.. like so many people will think next year

Hello fellow cricket lovers.
This is obviously the place to be if one would like to know what is happening around the local cricket scene.
Business first.
Teesdale cricket club is after the services of a senior coach. Shaun Haberfield has stood down due to increased work and family committments. He will however be playing on next season. As I am sure you all know, we won the Divi 3 1st and 2nds flags as well as the club championship and are a good family club. Situated a lovely 25 min drive from Geelong, it would be a fantastic opportunity for someone who thinks the rigours of Divi 1/2 ones cricket is not for them anymore. It could also be a stepping stone for anybody who wishes to make a career out of coaching and is looking for their first gig. At this stage there are only 2 players from last years 1's side not playing next year, so the nucleus of the side is already there for the right person. If there is any one interested, please feel free to private message me and I will get in touch with you.

Good to see Fergy back playing where he belongs and not torturing us bush boys anymore!

Great first post mate, most blokes just abuse everyone on their first post. Would you be looking for a playing or non playing coach for this year?

Either. Not particularly fussed. We have some very smart cricketers who can captain the side on a Sat, they just can't commit to coaching. Whoever takes the role will have a very good side to work with. As I said earlier, only 2 confirmed blokes out of the 1's flag side and atleast 1 if not 2 blokes joining already. Don't see the need to abuse anyone. Good banter is one thing, abuse is another...

Re: New club Coaches/Captains/Players for 2009/10

Has anyone got any interesting movements happening already????

Alot of phone calls being made already, by the sounds of things alot of clubs are getting well and truley prepared for the 2009/10 season already. . . . .
