Ok you outed Kane as a Pea Heart, let's get back on the positive side of the coin. Looking at Perri from Rivergum making a ton this weekend to lift his team off the canvas. Who are the blokes in the comp (any grade) who step up when it gets hot in the Kitchen? The under 21's side last year had a few. Holy Trinity had a few in the final series in Quick last year as well. Not necessarily the best cricketers but the ones that rise for an occassion.

You can bag Kane if you like. I think its a shame he's joined the powerhouse side. Would have been nice to see him and co drag someone else up into the Top 4.

But to those stars in Quick, just a note... I am pretty sure Kane would go OK bowling against Rivergum or Lalor.

Finally, to those Quick players, I can tell you stepping up in a Jack Quick game in Round 3 is a very different thing to playing Burland (Jika). Most guys in Burland are very, very good Quick cricketers. It has and always will be the biggest step up in grades.

Re: NMCA(formerly Jika) '08/'09

i think there are only a couple players from each team (if that) in quick that can step up 2 the burland stage.

LALOR: only christie. the rest are only good quick players, cant really see any others stand up when they cant perform in finals as it is

YCW: Carnell. and this guy is only an import. doesnt say much for these guys. all though they really do fancy them selves

RIVERGUM: Perri and Bramich. 2 19 year olds who would perform. sheer pace from bramich and a cool wise head on perri. ones to watch

COBRAS: Flinn hes one that has taken a while to get going so far but can take on the quicks when in full form. did well in the under 21s

DONATH: Hill is a dangerous bat when he gets going, one of the best in quick. would back himself

CAMERON: NO ONE as we seen last year no one was up 2 it which resulted in relegation

OLYMPIC: have a few good bats in massey coombes and hopkins but they all might struggle a bit i would think

FAIRFIELD: really couldnt find anyone that could hold there own in burland. doumis and cowen would be the only ones that go close

I am prepared to be be corrected but Holy Trinity went up this year first couple of games more than competitive werent they ?

Not for one second was I comparing grades, I was just asking through NMCA's 27 or so clubs every club has a player that seems to produce when needed as Perri did on the weekend. Doesn't matter what grade, none of us are going to be VIC reps this year or next? We had young S.Flinn step up in our 2's on the weekend when we were 3 for FA. Not one person at our club said it didn't count because it wasn't in Jika shield or Quick for that matter.

I think you may be giving Burland a bit too much credit, there really aint that much difference apart from the clubs who pay big money, sure the Burland sides would have a slightly greater depth, but on a given day any side from Quick could beat a Burland team if 2 or 3 or 4 players step up to the plate.

I would suggest Lalor have a few more than 1 guy, noticed Matt Best is now at Olympic Colts, could easily be one of the best players in the grade if he recovers his form of a few years back.

I would also say that any side apart from the top3 (rosebank, camrea, keon park) that if relegated would be no certainties of going straight back to the top grade.
if any of baseballers, trinity, socials, united and druids were in quick, they would be no better than lalor is perceived to be now.

Re: NMCA(formerly Jika) '08/'09

Micky White's alive and well,
never one to shy away, both with the bat and with his mouth..
spoke to him the other day and reckon's he'll make more runs this year than last year...

how do you boys rate him??

Re: NMCA(formerly Jika) '08/'09

I think that the Cobras will be the ones to watch in all competitions this season.
Very talented team with a few under 21s players.
M.Flinn.
A.Wegener.
B.Wight.
M.Mickleson.
M.Krstitovic.

The whole club looks flying at the moment under a new coach in
Steven Wegener.

White's not a cat like Camrea's new gun recruit from the district ranks! I didn't think he was recruited to Camrea to bat at 7. Meow!

Plumpton would have walked to the crease.

Can't believe someone from such a higher level of cricket (getting big $$$) would be sliding down the order. Even Alex headed in for a hit.

I'm sure someone from Main St will say he hurt himself fielding or something... whatever. Weak.
