how many jack quick players would get paid????????

probably 1 at each club...nearer to what it should be and the reason why it's a very even comp. no quick shields for sale

i dont know the figures, never said i did.

it's obvious who pays the most when you look at the number of players being paid at each club

Rosebank 6 or 7
Keon Park 2 or 3
Baseballers 2 or 3
Northcote United 2 or 3
Holy Trinity 1
Druids 1
Northern Socials 0
Camrea 6 or 7

even that may be wrong, but there is a massive difference between the grand finalists and the rest, hence the results

so its not really a benchmark, its cashflow....and its quite sad to be honest

keon park won their flag with ex-juniors from their club, something that no matter how much camrea and rosebank try, they will never achieve, it's probably the most enjoyed premiership in the last 12 years, the rest were on sale at the trophy shop
Who gets paid at Druids? The only bloke was the coach Paul Hibbert who sadly passed away

i think north metro boy hit the nail on the head, probably 1 player if that gets paid from each team and it shows that by the ladder and how the comp is so close. i reckon ycw pay a few but its wasted money year in year out. lalor wouldnt be payin many, christie is home grown.

Northmetroboy it is nice of you to acknowledge that Camrea have juniors.
Look if you want my honest opinion Camrea and Rosebank have outgrown the NMCA competition.
My personal opinion is that Camrea should find another competition just to get away from people that think like you. We will run our club the way we want to run our club and do exactly what we want to do. We will pay whoever we want to pay and develop our kids the way we want them developed.
Clubs like Rosebank and Camrea have set the benchmark and as far as I am concerned you have two choices as a competiting club in the NMCA:

A/ Work your butts off as a club and come up to that level.

B/ Whinge and complain everytime they win something.

1/ Very few follow choice A.

2/ And the rest.

Say no more.

those 2 clubs haven't outgrown anything except every other clubs budgets, no other club can afford to pay as much as they do, hence the results

Sooki sooki lala!

Where do you think the money comes from? Camrea & Rosebank are just two cricket clubs, the same as yours. Difference is they have groups of people who work their backsides off generating sponsorships and the like beause they actually have a goal.

You talk about money. I bet there are clubs out there that are sitting on a swag of money in the bank, gloat about it, but have no idea what to do with it.

Actually, now that I think of it.........what the hell do they do with it?
Maybe people out there can answer that better than I can because I have no idea!

make a mockery of the amounts, it dont matter how much you pay, its how many players you throw the cash at, thats what buys the flags

stop paying, and out walks bubis, jesensek, berak, mcgann and perera, got enough juniors to cover them??? i dont think so

so congrats to the sponsors, you would want to hope they stay on board

You obviously have no idea about how the world works. Let me explain..........After you've achieved your actual goal..............which in the case of clubs like Camrea and Rosebank is to win a Premiership, or FIVE! and SIX! in their case, what then happens is that more and more sponsors are eager to come on board because they want to be associated with success. Both clubs have enjoyed incredible eras. Yes, all good eras can come to an end. Will that be the case with either of these two clubs? Probably not so the best advice I can give you if in fact you have any interest at all in your clubs success is try and find out how these clubs function and what it is they do and have done over a long period of time to become the powerhouses that they are.

some ppl cannot conform to rules. The taipans dicipline their players, no matter what age and dont let them or any other f*&#wit run the club.

Those in charge there have the balls to make tough decisions and by the way you need to hear the whole story not what a 14 y old told you.....

Properly run clubs (taipans and rosebank) do pay there players, not all of them, because of their hard work in the winter months chasing sponsors not drinking cans watching local footy with one hand down their pants.
They run social clubs not watering holes for ferels...

Taipans all the way!!!

say no more!

saying a 14yr old trying to run the club
in 10 years when that 14 yr old is making a name for himself he wont be saying thanks to camrea, and you say the club fixes problems bc nothing was fixed at all and untill CAMREA TAIPANS get over their CAMREA legend the clubs going nowhere. CAMREA is dead so get over the CAMREA legend, you should be talking about the new legends of camrea taipans who actully do something like MC GANN
that 14 yr old made camrea look good and all you have done was sent him on Victoria duties with knowing he wont play cricket for the rest of the season when he gets back

i wouldnt be suprised if he went to rosebank to stick it up camrea and ill tell u noe his welcome at my club

........MMMMMMmmmmmmm.........'The clubs going nowhere?'..............Yeah, I guess you're right. Nowhere else to really go when your NUMBER 1! and Jika Shiled Premiers! Except to win again, and again, and again, and again........................................................................................................................................................you can choose to be a part of a great club, or not. Tough decisions will always need to be made. That's what seperates the great clubs from the others.

Stay tuned for further tough decisions to come. Maybe you can comment on these also when you hear about them on the grapevine?

Re: NMCA(formerly Jika) '08/'09

Out of interest Northmetroboy if you were running the NMCA competition and you wanted to implement a salary cap for each Jika Shield club. What would the maximum amount of money each club should be allowed to pay coaches captains and players per year?

firstly i dont want to run the comp, secondly the word salary cap and local cricket should never be put together, problem is it gets mentioned because 1 club was hellbent on bulldozing the comp, then another didnt like it and joined in....hence the results

its local cricket, in the big scheme of things, its a development comp, if clubs want to spend xx amount on winning/buying them, good luck to them,

everyone knows how to win the jika shield....pay for it

What your clubs dont understand is no one cares how many you buy, respect is earnt not paid for

Re: NMCA(formerly Jika) '08/'09

When all boiled down, it is just a suburban park cricket comp. Why anyone would want to pay anyone other than a Captain/Coach to play park cricket is beyond me.

Surely you play park cricket for the love of the game and the people you play with. If you are paying people just to win a park cricket comp, I dunno, I think you are missing the point.

Re: NMCA(formerly Jika) '08/'09

Well if Rosebank and Camrea have grown bigger then the NMCA comp why dont they try to get into District cricket??? unless they like being big fish in a small pond, though to be fair if I had a club winning flags on a consistant basis it would be hard for me to give it up. :)

its not junior sport where participation is paramount and you play to have fun........surely every single nmca club goes out on a saturday to WIN....why would you train 2 nights then....to lose weight?

coach/captain put enormous amount of hours into season therefore deserves renumeration...

berak is a thomastown resident/plays footy with them....
fellows well you should know..
louie been a thomo player his whole life..
the list goes on..

2 or 3 do get looked after but they are certainly not paying their home loans with their payments...

plus most clubs out there are always wanting to speak to AJ and the likes about a move...what are you planning on offering, chocolates and lollie (be warned he can guzzle)

I think I said that a C/C deserves to be paid didn't I?

And I didn't say that you shouldn't try to win. What I'm saying is that if you are running around attracting park cricketers with money, then you are missing the point of playing park cricket. If you are so serious about winning a suburban cricket comp (which, to be frank, isn't the strongest around), maybe you should be testing your skills at a higher level?
