Re: South Africa v Pakistan

Well Pakistan managed to throw it way on a flat pitch. They'll be lucky to get 250.

South Africa should finish with a big first innings lead, will they be able to push on and win the test?

Fracture rules Morkel out of tour

Fast bowler Morne Morkel will play no further part in South Africa's tour of Pakistan after fracturing his foot.

The promising 22-year-old suffered the injury in bizarre fashion when he stepped on a pebble during a three-day tour match on Friday.

"Since this kind of"Since this kind of injury takes six to eight weeks to heal, his tour is over," a South African spokesman explained.

From the BBC.

A freak injury there, he broke it by standing on a pebble during a 3 day match. His absence may open the for Pollock to return but it's unlikely.

we will be ok. i think pakistan will make 300 - malik will score big. this wicket had loadsa runs in it last year - we miss yousuf, why not pick him?

should see us bat out last day for the drwa

Re: South Africa v Pakistan

Pakistan are limping towards the 200 mark but a lot now rests on Malik and Butt. They need to get to 250 at least.

Re: South Africa v Pakistan

malik almost got us to the 300

if we can gt early wickets thenwe have a chance not lloking great is it?

Re: South Africa v Pakistan

South Africa have lost 3 quick wickets. Pakistan still have a chance to win this match if South Africa falter in this innings. They've done well to avoid the follow-on.

Re: South Africa v Pakistan

As long as Pakistan can get to around a 320 lead they should have the match in the bag.

Harris took his first 5 wicket haul but the jury is still out on him - what ever happened to the guy who got banned for throwing (Botha?)?

Re: South Africa v Pakistan

not happy, looking bad for pakistan depsite the wickets, will be chasing a big total here.

Re: South Africa v Pakistan

wow kallis got hundred in both innings  :eek:hmy:
looks like pakistan are trying for victory scoring at over 4.its the right thing to do.i havent been watching the match but 82 off 95 for younis looks brilliant.i think simbazz might be right that pakistan will win.sa will be embarrassed

Re: South Africa v Pakistan

Good match for Kallis, the proper way to send a message to the coach about your value to the team instead of whinging in the press about it.

Younis is going for it and will hopefully make an exciting final day.

Re: South Africa v Pakistan

I dont mean to brag, but who said Pakistan would win?

I know they havent yet, but if Younis has anything about him he'll stick in!

Re: South Africa v Pakistan

South Africa are still in the game, its not going to be easy to make 277 on a day 5 pitch.

Re: South Africa v Pakistan

In the end a comprehensive win for South Africa. Pakistan really needed Younis to stay in for most of the day to have any realistic chance of getting something out of the game. Once he went it was curtains.

Some good bowling from Steyn and obviously a fine batting display from Kallis in scoring two centuries.

All eyes move to the 2nd and final test. Will Inzi get the chance to play a farewell test?

Re: South Africa v Pakistan

Probably a 50/50 opening day in the 2nd test.

A few SA batsmen got starts but none have been able to convert to 3 figures so far and the Pakistan bowlers took wickets at regular intervals.

SA will be looking to get to 400 and beyond with Pakistan hoping to keep them to 350 or less.

Re: South Africa v Pakistan

Pakistan must be unhappy with their performance with the ball. They are off to a good start with the bat scoring at 4 an over.

Re: South Africa v Pakistan

we have the upper hand in this match. the ball was spinining a mile for kaneria so harris will be the man for us.
