yer but we all know teams are allowed 1 professional player......and you guys wouldnt have 40 g's....would you?.....i know for fact melton has spoken to macca and i tell you what back when i captianed him in the jnrs gee whizz some real smoke on the hard wickets trust me i had the gloves on keeping to him.......pitty when he started he was bowling leg spinners other wise he would have been noticed alot earlier....i have faced him a couple of years ago at our local club we played at and the big left armer hadnt changed.......quick with bounce........abit like clemo when he first came to willy........

look at all the bowlers who have come from district ranks they havnt done all that well when playing subbies......its the all rounders and batsmen that do the damage.......good luck to melton if they get those 2 over the line but its all rumor atm.........but id be spending the money on the younger blokes at your club getting them comming through the ranks which i know there are plenty goodies down their id rather go back for a couple of years to get a bigger gain in the future........get a good coach and lets face it like all subbie clubs good teams have 4 or 5 older type players who arnt gonna be around for too much longer push the younger kids up i say..........and the good coach to develop the younger brigade into decent 1st 11 players......

kids are the key......and if they are good enough send them to the next step.......and start working on the next batch.........

my opinion any 1 else?

yeh thats true we dont have 40g's, we have 80g's!! and were gonna get mchammond, harwood, john taylor, and anyone else on the market hahah! i think what your saying is a bit silly old weapo, have a good think about it, IF these rumours were true and these players were on the market, it would be stupid not to get high profile players to the club, no offence to young kids like dylan kight or adam kennedy but i know who i would rather be giving money to play cricket to, hmmm harwood or kight?? mchammond or kennedy?? real no brainer isnt it mark, and if you do nail a high profile player well then of course they will be great for the young kids, and there is no point in trying to keep all the young kids at the club, eventually a few of them will want to go and try their hand at district and you just have to support them in doing it and then when they finish at district hopefully they will come back to the club, thats normally how it works

you have 80 g's for 1 year what about the next...........?
youd wanna get his name spelt right first david.....so we are on first names now are we.......sweet........and it would be great to get a high profile player ie:sheedy, bartlett, travaglia, dale ect ect to the club........will they help the younger brigade comming through?????some instances yes but all are concentrating on their own game and how the team goes.........
a good coach is the key...........get my point.......

my point is though the kids who arnt quite good enough to go to a higher level are the key's to any clubs advance up the ladder.......

and you dont give the kids money cmon david thats a no brainer as you like to call it give it to their development........i think its called resources......get my drift.......

thanks david........@|

gee youve changed your tone why would that be.........

Re: subbies season 07/08

what about the draw........what odds would have you given me d/h.......

a.blake........46* and took all wickets......motm
a.bennett 80 odd is this the bloke they call ''bam bam''

dissapointing result i say there should have been a winner in the champ final and to make it ordinary conditions on the sat after losing 110 min due to rain and the wicket was a belta.......i think its dissapointing for subbies cricket..........2 teams get to share the champ final...........dont get me wrong well done to both teams competing on making the champ final.........a disapointing end to the season i say.......

no your right mark, bowlers dont always win you games, but wait till you see our new look batting line up next year.. because batters can often win you the game too, especially really really good batters.... watch the space ;)

Re: subbies season 07/08

hi all,

yes it was dissapointing there was no winner but that's cricket. A Blake outstanding as usual taking all of the wickets and chipping with a 48 not out (even slapped a nice largie off dale). Wicket was flat and hard but unusually slow. Bennett hit the ball very well along with harrison at the end. in the end it was a weird game where it never felt like anyone was on top and draw was always on the cards. personally an earlier decleration may have made the game interesting but really who knows what is best in ordinary conditions. did anyone watch the game? happy to hear some thoughts. looking forward to subbie night soon.

Re: subbies season 07/08

Yeah, pity about the rain on Saturday, was always gonna be a fizzer after that.
Your right Weapons,A.Blake motm, what a star, has he ever had a crack at Premier?,maybe he is just happy playing with his brothers?
My noms for team of the year in batting order are;
Ferguson MW
Brown NP
Sheedy Wtown
Craig Malv
Bartlett MW
Pradeep Moor'bin
Beshara Orm
Ayres Bops
Hodges Wtown
Blake BH
Goodwin Broady
Apologies/12th men,Lawrence,Scott,Connell,Dale,Harrison,Travaglia etc
You could argue for hours about this but one thing for certain anyone batting lower than about 6 would probably never get a hit.
Everyone have a go at this ,be interesting to see who gets closest to the actual team.

Hodgey batting at 9 and blake at 10 is a fair batting line up.
A.Blake what a champion and yes he is a champion because only a champion would get 7/73 in the championship final.
