The Lounge 2

Guys I have an announcement to make ๐Ÿ˜

My mum has been discharged from hospital as 'medically fit', her hip replacement is a success and will return to being mobile after some sessions of physio! ๐ŸงŽ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿง
My mother had a shocker last week during the heatwave, one of her veins popped open and she had to whisked off to the hospital. She lost a bit of blood, but she seems to be recovering well now.

For those of you who are squeamish please don't look at the pic. https://postimg.cc/PvYKJHq3

Pleased for Jessicas and your mother Zman. I lost my mother 15 years ago. She kept from her own children the fact that she had respiratory trouble, until it was too late when a massive stroke took her. Instead of booking herself into hospital she had been breathing thru those puffer items.๐Ÿ˜ข

Crikey Zman, that picture looks serious. I wish your mum a safe recovery.

Bless you Richie. Your mum was protecting you both by not telling you, that's a mothers love.

You missed this mein freund. Too late hope you voted for the winner

Friedrich Merz.๐Ÿ‘ Is he good for Germany.

You're right mate, in fact I did as I have voted conservative in the last 7-8 elections (including regional, local, European ones). He's the best candidate Germany can have in theses times. He'll have to deliver, though, and that is on various burning issues like immigration, defence, economic affairs. He used to be parliamentary party leader in the early post-millennium years, then lost the battle for the chancellorship against Merkel in 2005, as a result of which he left politics in frustration and became a big shot with Blackrock. Not too long ago he returned to the political arena seeing his chance to become chancellor when Merkel's era was about to end. He became party leader and the party's candidate. I don't envy him for this job. In fact, it's beyond my grasp how anyone at my age can decide to do it but it takes all sorts...
I voted for him because I find a fair part of his views and the policy of the Christian Democrats acceptable. He's ambitious but also fully aware that he'll have to tackle an Herculean task for which he shows the necessary degree of humility. Although I have no clue how you can physically manage such a job, I wish him all the stamina and perseverance needed. On a personal level, we have certain things in common and I'll follow him closely in his endeavour to steer the country through these troubled times.

Thanks for your perspectives Thomas. I wish your Friedrich Merz all the best to steer Germany through the current times. Nice to hear he's got humility, unlike so many others.
I had a quick search too, and my ABC Radio, ...
