The Lounge 2

All I can vaguely remember is that research into it was to be intensified. I wasn't aware that an Aussie company is on board yet it doesn't surprise me either. However, Quantum Brilliance cooperating with an Austrian company is one of six companies one of them being a German startup which are engaged in the project but will work on different aspects. Apart from the know-how, it's always a question of funding which, in turn, is based on a national or corporate strategy. It seems that Germany is ambitious to become a player in this field for which cooperation is vital and inevitable.
I heard those Quantum computers are getting better everyday, especially with the new chip Google is developing. Thousands of times faster than the current chips. Even faster and the Boffins have greatly reduced the 'error' issues which earlier was the achillies heel of Quantum computers.
Basically, in Quantun mechanics an object can be in two places at the same time. With our current computer algorithms we have binary switches that are either on or off, up or down, ...
With the advent of Quantum computers these switches can be used twice, not just doubling the computing power but raising it exponentially. An amazing Scientific break through with most of the "error" issues sorted.
I heard we'll see great stuff pubically available in the next decade.

The fellow saying this on ABC also said, "imagine this new chip powering AI systems!" Wow! That's a bit scary. We're doomed! πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ˜±

I like Twiggy Forrest, he's a very decent billionaire philanthropist. Totally opposite to Clive the Palmer.
Twiggy has my vote too as a huge patriot above all else. Same as our Gina. Dick Smith was another.

My new Samsung Android tablet is brilliant but it has been a little onerous getting up to speed with it. Like, what's new and what can it do. A few hurdles to jump. It's got a special stylus that does all sorts of things, even without quite touching the screen. BC doesn't like my gifs but I can talk to it and it types what I say.
Transferring my data from the old tablet was okay. I was able to do a lot of it by Bluetooth. This old fellow can still learn a few new tricks. ┐('~`)β”Œ

You need my brilliant son Terry. Built my Windows 10 from scratch. Always wanted a tablet. How much are they mate.

He's a phoney, and his main interest is just himself.
Cant agree with that. If the case he'd not had a philanthropic arm outside of his main businesses. Buying such iconic Aussie companies such as Bega Cheese, RM Williams, Akubra was to save them falling into foreign hands. Not the sign of a greedy man but more a patriotic one.

I bought myself one recently. A Samsung Galaxy A9+ costing 190€, that's AUD308.
I checked out the Samsung Galaxy A9+ after reading your above post Thomas.
My local shops are selling them about the same price as yours cost you but with a good variation in prices.., if one can get one cheaper.
That's a good price for a good solid tablet. Did you get a SD storage chip with it. They're cheap as chips! And even a basic 32gb chip can hold a life time of photos, letters, ... It'd take the pressure off your internal drive with its operating system.
Also, I've just discovered with my new S6 tablet that I can install simple apps, like puzzle games, and move them to the external sd chip. Nice, and love a clean machine.

Then, speaking to a mate this morning he said he was looking at buying a Samsung Galaxy A9+ himself and did I know about them? What a coincidence and I rattled off the prices and specs I'd just seen. He was impressed but I told him why I knew what I knew. He and I saw one for $254 at one end and one at $449! Maybe it had more storage and memory. I didn't check.

That's an amazing coincidence, Terry. Glad you like it. I'd bought the same for my wife and my 94yo MiL who uses it for Whatsapp as smartphones are too small for her. I've looked up the specs and they are 64GB memory and 4GB RAM, which is enough for my needs. Could be extended, as you say. I bought all three tablets from Amazon after having read product tests and I'm satisfied with the performance and the value for money. I treated myself to a ProCase cover for little money because it can provide a nice stand for watching vids if you fold it like this. No, they came with no extra SD chip.
The S6 lite is more expensive (AUD660) but there's also one for AUD412 with the same specs? No idea why. It's to do with the processor. Didn't go into detail. Have fun with your new tablet. πŸ‘

That's a nice case Thomas. I'm half tempted but I prefer watching TV on my TV.

I spent extra on my S6 to get a 128gb main storage which here was ~$650 but I grabbed mine on the early black Friday sales for $450. It was too good a bargain to ignore. I also put in a 128gb SD secondary storage chip which I was amazed to get for only $15! A Samsung chip too. Normally > $100. The assistant pointed it out to me saying it was a Black Friday thing. Luck of the Irish! It works great!

I've downloaded a stack of puzzle games like Mahjong to keep my grey matter sharp. They're mostly fun but I'm culling the banal ones and the ones with too many Ads. All free, but with in App purchases which I ignore nowadays. I got sucked into spending $$$'s that way about 4 years ago. Silly me salivating like Pavlov's dog.
